"Zighy Bay, on the northern end of Oman, just across the peninsula from Dubai, is the sort of desert-meets-the-sea idyll that the Middle East really ought to be known for." - Mark Fedeli
"Zighy Bay, on the northern end of Oman, just across the peninsula from Dubai, is the sort of desert-meets-the-sea idyll that the Middle East really ought to be known for. And Six Senses provides a variety of ways for you to explore it, whether that’s paragliding, rock climbing, speedboating, snorkeling, or 4×4 off-roading. The traditional bedouin dining is a pretty good adventure as well." - Mark Fedeli
"How did it strike you on arrival? People come back here year after year, for the light on the cliffs, for the sunshine, for the ease of of its languorous ways which just delivers every time. The ultimate quick-fix fly and flop. This remote resort (accessible only by four-wheel drive) is a rustic, idyllic getaway. The 82 stone villas are set among date palms, pomegranate trees, and wandering sandy paths. Nice. What’s the crowd like? Stressed-out vacationers from Dubai. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Villas are open and airy, with stucco walls and stone flooring. Pool villas have personal gardens, outdoor patios, and private plunge pools. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us? Beds are made with Naturalmat fiber mattresses and unbleached cotton linens. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? Rooms have all the basics, including Nespresso machines and mineral water, but one unusual perk: a wine fridge, that can be stocked according to your tastes. Guests are also assigned a Guest Experience Maker, or GEMs (read: a butler) that can take care of any whim you may have. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? Free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. Guests come here to relax and it shows: cell phone use is discouraged while barefoot is encouraged—right down to the padded pedals on the bikes. The five restaurants serve organic produce grown in the on-site garden, and ice cream is served complimentary alongside the tranquil pools. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? Even if true relaxation isn't your speed, you won't be bored: activities range from sailing to mountain biking and archery." - Laura Ratliff
"Soar from nearly 1,000 feet in the sky down to the soft sands of Zighy beach by way of paragliding, which offers an incredible arrival to the Six Senses Zighy Bay."
