It was a quiet early Saturday evening in the back patio. We really didn’t need the reservation at 5:45. The two of us were seated promptly and ordered 2 drinks to start. Their menu is quite limited which seems to be the trend these days in these young “trendy” restaurants. There were quite a few pizza selections, but we were not looking for that so we opted to share the hazelnut persimmon and fennel salad, the butter beans with eggplant, and the gemilli shrimp pasta. The persimmon pays hazelnut fennel salad was good, but all the flavors were a little meshed together so lacked anything distinctive. The butter beans were very yummy served with their very buttery bread. The shrimp pasta was excellent with sun-dried tomatoes and some spicy punch. We had the lemon verbena semifreddo for dessert and it was subtly delicious. The service was efficient. $156 for 2 people including tip was not a cheap fare but I guess standard these days.

My partner and I had a delightful cozy dinner in their backyard with our furbaby. We had the potato puffs, butter lettuce salad, blood orange cream soda, mushroom pizza with fennel sausage and the lamb ribs. The ribs were super tender and tasty as they were slathered in a pepper jelly. The pizza was delish too! Loved the assortment of mushrooms and the dough was chewy and had a nice char. Would come back for another romantic meal on a chill weeknight.

Really good vegetarian options with the mushroom, and corn and burrata pizzas. Shishito pepper starter and starwberry dessert also great and combine 3 flavors, textures and temperatures. Good house cocktails and wines to boot. Will come back for their cafe hours some weekend.

Sausage pizza was excellent. Shishito pepper pizza was also really good. Cocktails were fine, but not memorable.

Pastries from nearby spots get a lot of buzz but Sister has been quietly kicking out stellar baked goods for even longer. And it's the best hip morning hangout - bring a book here, bring a date here, bring some work here - you can't go wrong. The wifi is hit or miss so I'd recommend a hotspot. When we've been for dinner, the service has been great every time - warm and helpful too. The food has ranged from quite good to outstanding. There was a hamachi crudo seasonal appetizer last year that was.. just... 🤯 Keep up the good work, Sister crew!

I had a delightful experience for Sunday afternoon brunch here. The service was friendly, warm and on point. I ordered one of their brunch specials, Trout Toast, and it was divine. I kept watching the service walk by with other plates of goodness and it all looked pretty amazing. I think I'm going to try that breakfast egg sandwich next.

Service was amazing! The bread was soo good it was so fresh! The sausage pizza was delicious! And for the dessert the chocolate tart!

It's a great atmosphere and a great vibe. In the end though, it's just pizza, comparable with a lot of other high class pizzas. But the staff and service combined with the environment make up for everything in my opinion.

Consistently close-to-terrible service, long wait lines, mediocre overpriced drinks is why it pains me to leave a lower review. The chai sometimes comes out watered down, sometimes too strong. Same goes with service, months of either lukewarm or dealing with rude baristas have made me stop coming in. I walked by today and felt welcomed by new faces so I'm hoping it's better moving forward. Their unique pastries like the poppy seed cake and miso tahini cookie are great, but make sure to come in early because pastries sell out. Even their basic crossaint stand out more than what other cafes carry. The pastry chefs really have it down. I used to rave about Sister, and their pastries and beautiful dining space keep me coming back (there's 2 outdoor areas!) but the inconveniences really do add up and take from the experience.

Wonderful place to meet up in the morning. Their pizza is how I'd describe healthy style, but also still quite good. I'd give their morning menu and pastries 5/5 stars, but at night is when things get a bit more competitive/complicated. Overall service is great and ambiance always seems to fit the occasion. Perhaps a must visit in Oakland.

First time here for a bday celebration and had a reservation for 6. We were seated early and they came over with menus promptly. But the server didn't come around for awhile so went to the bar to order drinks. The server was kinda annoyed later that didn't order drinks with her. The menu is really light and simple. Mainly pizzas and a few apps. All 3 pizzas were good but a bit pricey for what they are. They took a long time to come out too. The mushroom was little salty but the sausage tasted the best. After receiving the food, servers were non existent and didn't come back. Even for giving the payment, it took awhile to find someone. All in all, decent for a pie but wouldn't come back off of the service.

Hmmmm, not very good. This rating is for brunch only. The food options are pretty limited. The food looked good but unfortunately was extremely bland. The cashier was quite rude, ignored people to the best of her ability and didn't give any instructions as to how the pickup would work. Each time someone pays, she needed to go to the back for about 3 minutes before coming back to take orders again. Extremely inefficient setup. Drinks took forever to come out too, as they only had one barista working on all types of drinks. I did not finish my food. The matcha latte was small for how much it was. The vibe is cute but I wouldn't be back for brunch again.

Although parking can be tough around this area we got lucky and found a spot near the front! As you walk in they did check for vaccination cards before seating you but as I entered the place I was in love with the space. High ceilings, natural light through the windows, and even a cute outdoor space. I ended up dining indoors but it was still beautiful and there's enough space between the tables where you don't feel cramped even during dinner service. Reservations weren't too tough a week in advance for a group of three and I am so glad we ended up trying the place out. They do have a happy hour menu so be sure to come early if you want some discounts on some items. Their menu also rotates so be sure to check it out online. We just did family style for the table and enjoyed everything we ordered. - Sister bread with savory butter (the butter was super unique and had an umami flavor) - Bucatini (love uni pasta and this was great without tasting too fishy) - Squid (must get when it's on the menu. It's cooked well and the sauce they pair with it was delicious) - Pastrami (OK but wouldn't get again) - Pepperoni Pizza (your standard item but great crunch and balance of ingredients) - Corn ice cream dessert (if this is on the menu be sure to get it! It had a crumble and was A-1) They also had a wonderful punch we ordered and it was so easy to drink the whole thing. I tried to find it online but I couldn't find what it was called :\

Had some down time in Oak and popped into Sister to do some work and have a bite. Perfect vibe, dark but not too dark, good music but not too loud to Zoom, kind staff - overall just had a really good experience here. Lots of space, nice high top tables with comfy stool chairs and lively seating in the outdoor patio out back. Had a perfectly made Oat chai and a bitchin avocado toast. Thick, homemade bread, butter, generous avo, a nice chili oil and sesame seeds on top! This was exactly what I needed! Parking hit or miss in this busy Grand-Lake neighborhood. Five star stop for me.

Service -5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Overall, I had a good time at Sister. I came with a pescatarian friend so we got oysters, the heirloom tomato salad and the mushroom pizza . All were tasty but my favorite was definitely the tomato salad surprisingly. I'd recommend this place for a casual hangout with a friend. Small call outs that aren't necessarily the restaurant's fault but were a part of my experience here: 1- we were seated outside and a HUGE rat was climbing up the vines next to us. Didn't finish our pizza after that 2. Had nothing in my car, but still returned to a broken window (in broad daylight) parking right across from this restaurant on Grand Ave. I'd probably Uber if I come back since multiple cars are hit on this street regularly.

Sister is my friend's preferred remote work location and I can see why after joining her here on a recent Thursday morning. After ordering we made ourselves comfortable at a table out back. So long as you're dressed in Bay Area layers, this spot is manageable in most weather conditions. The gloriously buttery toast and housemade jam I ordered hit the spot. The soft boiled egg I chose would have been nicer if it had arrived warm, as opposed to fridge cold. I also enjoyed that they had my favorite tea, genmaicha. The backyard at Sister is like a little oasis and perfect for meetings of four or fewer folks. Staff are nice, pastries are good, and I look forward to hanging out here more often.

Cafe with a small artisanal menu. Seating was limited but I was able to grab a table after waiting around for a few minutes. There is also a patio for outdoor seating, if the weather permits. I got the beet toast. Tangy pickled beets blended into a hummus and spread on a slice of hearty fresh baked bread. Topped with roasted cauliflower and onions. I wasn't sure was to expect but it was really tasty! This is definitely a great place to post up with your laptop. Cozy vibes and moderately quiet.

Stopped in for the first time. I was seated upon arrival but after the server provided water, it took 20 min for the server to return to take my order. The bartender and server were hanging at the bar chatting and sampling wine. At one point the bartender put a bottle of wine right up under his nose and proceeded to pour the wine into a glass. I'm glad I wasn't the recipient of that glass of wine. Overall the meal was unmemorable.

Question: Good (Rainy) Morning. Can someone from Sister Restaurant put me in touch with the person who makes the granola sold there? It is the most delicious granola anywhere and I'm a regular purchaser for the past few years. I will be bereft if I can't get the recipe or another source after Sister closes permanently on Jan 27, 2024! Thanks.

A cute little spot on grand with yummy thin crust pizza and some delicious drinks! I got the green eyed girl which was refreshing. We also tried the mushroom pizza - had an interesting pickled flavor and they have a great chili oil! Overall kinda pricey but seems about par for the area. They said they may have happy hour back in the late spring/summer which would be awesome!

Have been wanting to try Sister for.a while! Got a sitter for date night and an early reservation (5pm) and we overall enjoyed our experience. With a few tweaks, it could be our go-to spot when we have that rare toddler-free evening. Ambiance was perfect-never change! Beautiful brick, open kitchen, wood fire oven for pizzas, simple dining room, gorgeous bar. Felt special but not stuffy. Perfect date night or special occasion eatery. Food was delicious with some outstanding bites. We loved the lamb ribs and accompanying fennel salad! The maitake and fennel sausage pizza was also a fave. We had the gougeres and both thought that app needs to be reworked-small portion, not memorable. Wouldn't order again except maybe to ask for the butter it came with! Cheesecake was just okay-we were missing some texture and crust would have helped. Service was perfect. No complaints there. Areas for improvement: -More non-alcoholic drinks/mocktails please! Their bar is impressive so they could take some more care in thoughtful mocktails for the pregnant/sober folks! -the restaurant was packed. Like there isn't still a pandemic going on. We wished they had actually asked for/checked vaccination status as their posted signs say they do (we had our cards ready but were never asked nor heard anyone else being asked). -more visible diversity in the front of the house/open kitchen. I *always* notice this and it makes me super uncomfortable especially in a place like Oakland. The dining room itself was also overwhelmingly white. Would still recommend Sister as a great place to gather for a solid meal that feels special but still approachable.

Sister has an adorable patio, but pizza that is just okay. I got a mushroom sausage pizza that was different, but I don't think it worked well with oyster mushrooms. Not the biggest fan when something different is chosen in favor of quality. I did try the sunchoke ice cream dessert which was good, but thought the miso caramel overpowered any sunchoke flavor. It felt like this restaurant was trying to be different without the flavors properly coming together, but still enjoyed my time on the patio. It also does have heat lamps!

I haven't been here for dinner in a very long time, so my review is for the brunch situation. Their lattes are pretty decent, though I really wish they had almond milk because I hate oat milk with a passion. Their pastries are good and I really do like their coconut sesame cake, and their galette is really good. I ordered a tea, and it was the tiniest pot, which for $6 seemed annoying and I had to ask for more water. I've also ordered other things from their cafe menu, but it's always disappointing. The egg is always cold, the bread is a little off, and the porridge is, well, no better than what I could make from the frozen oatmeal at Trader Joes. If you do come here, I would suggest that a) you shouldn't be in a rush and b) stick to the pastry case. All of that would give it a 3/5. However, I've never had good service here. To the point where the baristas are on a different planet and barely able to ring people up. And to top it off, this time, my friend and I arrived right around their opening on Sunday morning and went to sit in the back, only to find tons of glass - clearly from last night since no one had been in before us. And judging by the floors that I got to stare at while they cleaned up the glass, the place had barely been cleaned or mopped. And if that wasn't enough, the bathroom was just grimy. All of this makes me horribly uncomfortable and makes me wonder if the front of house is so disgusting, what on earth does the kitchen look like?

I dined at this restaurant and they had my review removed because it wasn't favorable. So I guess I'll say it again. It was slow, the wait staff was inattentive, and the food was insanely overpriced for the quality. Gave it a try. Not going back.

I'm mainly here to warn people to about the beef brisket tagine stew. For $27, I'd expect more. I'd very generously estimate there to have been about 2.5 ish ounces of beef brisket tops, or for perspective, perhaps 7-8 small rectangular pieces of beef about the size of a quarter, small enough bites to feed a small baby just starting out on solid food. The flavor was good, with nice preserved lemon, but somewhat salty and made me want bread or any carb such as rice. I'd be happy if at least they would've thrown in more cheap garbanzo beans, or a tiny side of bread. I could have ordered more bread, but for $8, while quite good, I already had ordered a serving and didn't think it was $8 good. Otherwise, the other plates we got were very good- the shrimp/halibut ceviche with fried tortilla was flavorful and fresh. Could have used bigger halibut pieces but otherwise good. The little gem salad had a nice dill dressing and had a good amount of sunflower seeds for contrast. The cocktails were also better than average. Also, despite other reviews about bad service ours tonight was pretty good. The servers were attentive and we were seated quickly. Other than my main complaint about the very sad tagine, I might be tempted to come back for the pizza- they're roughly equivalently priced like the beef tagine entree at high $20s but from the looks of other tables it seemed like the portion seemed pretty good. Two cocktails priced at $15 each, sad tagine main course, and two appetizers a total of $120 including tax and 15% tip. Paying it and reflecting on the meal reminded me of the current sad reality of inflation and small restaurant margins.

We dropped in after seeing the previous reviews. I had the pork belly which comes with 2 chicharrones strips. It comes with beans which didn't have a lot of flavor. But the pork belly was well cooked. I actually like it a little more tender and fatty. But I finished the dish which I still liked. My wife had the lamb ribs which were killer. There were four that looked like baby back ribs. Very tender and comes with a fennel salad that was also a great pairing. We definitely want to return to try other menu items.

NYE food pop up with My Friend Fernando was a bust. Burnt pork Milanese drenched in oil, chalky starters, missing dishes and overall meh food. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was not super warm for a "NYE Party".

I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews about the service. Had a dinner reservation for 5 on the back patio that was confirmed over email and text. The host didn't seem to want to let us in. Waited in line behind a couple and they all had their phones out trying to figure out where to seat them. The inside dining room was EMPTY. Then the host tells me I don't have a reservation. Showed her my confirmation on my phone. Duh. Turns out, our party was already in the back patio and she dismissed her ignorance by muttering, "It must have been under another name." No. The food is super tasty. But it will take an hour to get it. One cocktail when first seated took 20 minutes to show up. Bartenders openly drinking and fuck*ng off behind the bar, socializing not working. When one of our party asked if the butter was garlic butter, the guy who served it said, "I don't know. It's whatever it says on the menu." Ick. Our server was nice. Slow as hell though. Will not be back.

Food was hit and miss, service is good. Their house made bread with trout dip was super good, very recommend. The salad had old browned and melting leaves, it gave us GI distress for 24 hours, never ordering salad here again. The carbonara was a joke, are they trolling us? It was the smallest portion of carbonara I've ever seen, and lacked flavor for $28. Adding a bunch of grated parmesan made it semi decent (which I had to ask for btw). Semifreddo desert was amazing. A bit disappointed they couldn't maintain the quality that the former restaurant here had, and prices are about 1.5x higher than Boot & Shoe was before they left. if you have cash to burn, maybe you won't mind coming here. Some tasty items are to be had.

3.5 stars for dining during covid; perhaps the experience would have been better otherwise. My friend highly recommended this as one of his favorite restaurants in Oakland, saying that a couple of times before he ordered all of the starters and half the menu with friends and ended up finding everything fantastic. I'm not sure if the menu is ordinarily more extensive, but there were only four choices for starters (two of which were salads) and two to three mains, while the other half was pizza. If you're not in the mood for pizza and a picky eater (I am not, FYI), you would be out of luck. I could see most people having difficulty finding something to like if they didn't like lamb or seafood (the main options for the night). Luckily I LOVE crab and my friend said they have a fantastic pizza dough so he was satisfied with his mushroom and Calabrian chili pizza. We shared a little gem salad to start, which was well-composed but nothing to write home about. My crab bucatini was perfectly cooked al dente and the yuzu was fragrant, but I wished the butter was halved/there were more of a crab taste apart from vaguely in the butter. I was also disappointed that there was no real green or protein component to the dish. From what I tried of my friend's pizza, the dough is indeed good if you like a little bit of chewiness but mainly Neapolitan style, though it could have done with longer in the over and again, some green or protein to it. Although we had a reservation, it took awhile to get us seated and the rest of service was similarly slower than usual. We had long waits just to put our drink order in, get drinks, then put our food order in, etc. Some staff seemed more attentive than others, and graciously cleared our table or asked if we wanted to order different drinks whenever they passed by. Oddly, we never got any water and they didn't even ask if we wanted dessert before dropping the check.

Came with a girlfriend for a Saturday dinner date a couple of weeks ago, food was alright but I probably won't be back. The best part of our experience was our server. I forgot her name but she was excellent, she also swapped out a wine for my friend since it wasn't too her taste. She didn't have to do that and I appreciated her. They had a natural wine on the menu that was very delicious. Overall the food did not meet my expectations... mostly because the portions were TINY!!! We got: Uni butter bucatini with trout roe: good texture of pasta, trout roe was yummy. Didn't really taste any uni though. I felt this could have used more flavor. Eggplant: i was disappointed by this. It sounded really good but they should also mention it's a cold dish. I wasn't expecting that. Flavor was just ok. Lamb ribs with fennel salad: this was really good, the portion was just so small... Pizza: we ordered a vegetarian pizza to go and we ended up getting the wrong pizza lol. It was tasty but not what we ordered. Ambience and service are great, but food is just ok.

The food was excellent. Great combinations of flavors and every dish we ordered complimented the others while maintaining its own unique character. Every ingredient was able to shine throughout the meal. The service and environment were well calibrated to be as chill as possible.

Cafe has amazing coffee, bread and pastries. Beautiful backyard patio, which is THE best place to work virtually or catch up with a friend. Super friendly staff.

We made a reservation on a Saturday night and ate at the parklet. Unfortunately the back patio was reserved for a private party - we would've preferred to eat away from the street noise - but it was still a good ambience and the heaters kept us warm. The servers were super friendly and efficient, and the COVID expectations (ie wear a mask unless eating or drinking) were given ahead of time. The pizzas were pretty good - we got a margherita and anchovy. We're always in search of good Neopolitan pizza! The crust was very chewy and stiff, which made eating the pizza super easy, and the toppings were fresh. The drinks (I had 2 mezcal-based cocktails) were also very refreshing and strong. Thanks for a good meal!

Sister is inevitably crowded even on random weeknights, but it's for good reason. The ambience is shabby chic and rustic modern, with lots of wood and a farm-to-table vibe. The menu is delectable, with a variety of handmade thin crust pizzas and beautiful salads. The corn and burrata pizza with cherry tomato, red onion, mozzarella, grana, chives, and mint is a favorite, as is the sausage and broccoli pizza with garlic, fontina, mozzarella, and aleppo chili. We inevitably end up getting a bottle of wine because their options are well paired with the food. There's an outdoor patio in the back if you can snag a table there on clear nights. They have heat lamps, but always make sure to bring layers. Don't miss their homemade bread and butter - it's worth it!

Food 4/5 Service 1/5 The service here was pretty non-existing. Don't expect to be able to talk to the waiter for any questions, and if you do you get a bad attitude. We came in last night for pizza around 7. We checked with the front desk before we were seated to let them know we would need to leave in time for an 8:20pm movie and they said it was fine. We were seated and had already waited a good 30+ min before decided to check with our waiter on food. It was so hard to get his attention, we had to raise our voice and call him several times to get him to stop by, and when we finally asked him if we could maybe get food in the next 15 minutes, he just snapped at us and responded " it's not happening". Totally didn't expect such dismissive tone and response. Eventually he said he'll check with the kitchen but never came back with the update..Food is good here, but not worth all the effort to come back as you can always find restaurants with better food and great services elsewhere.

Unfortunately the staff at Sisters must have had an off day. We made a reservation and showed up on time and were seated right away. We sat for approximately 15 minutes without so much as a hello from anyone. Several waiters walked past us several times as we smiled at them and hoped someone would at least acknowledge our existence. We eventually got up and left. I'm not sure the staff even noticed. Must have been an off night, since the other reviewers didn't have our experience. We may try them again, but they are not high on my list.

First time at this location since it was Boot and Shoe. Went for "brunch" at the cafe. Too pretentious for a place with less food heating capabilities than a 7-11. The latte was good, but save the bougee attitude if your only food options are overpriced avocado toast and porridge. The building is pretty and we ran into some old friends, which elevated my experience from 1 to 2 stars. Peet's coffee will heat up your breakfast croissant, and at least the baristas are usually kind. If you're gonna be a snob, at least serve me a hot ham and cheese croissant.

Thank god this place is called sister cause it would be incredibly awkward of me to insist SHE IS FAMILY. My meal here- and I'm not just saying this because I recently finished the latest season of Top Chef- was truly an experience. I mean off the charts, I can't remember the last time I had food this good. We started with the oysters, a simple dish that Sister beautifully escalated with their presentation. Yep, that one went on the 'gram. We also shared the bucatini that was thick and chewy, but deeply touched your soul with the rich, citrusy sauce (uni butter, yuzu, toasted nori, pea tendrils, plus we added the trout roe)! This dish in particular was my favorite of the night. We finished with their mushroom + Calabrian chili 'za, which you already know hit the spot. Of course, can't end this without commenting on their drinks- we had the Purple Gold, Kool Thing, and an old fashioned. 10/10, but truly like any good director we like the art, but we loveeee the artist. That is to say, this bartender is just as lovely as she is talented! Overall amazing, Sista! But like, really, can I come to your house for thanksgiving?

It was an absolute pleasure to eat here. We got a couple cocktails, the halibut and shrimp aguachile, and the early girl tomato pizza. Everything was delicious, the plating beautiful, and the service attentive and kind. I don't have any bad notes. Excited to return!

The reviews on this place are a little confusing, I came here for dinner and I had a great time. Server was amazing, she was sweet and gave great recommendations. We made reservations and it didn't look busy at all on a Saturday night. Had the afternoon tea as a drink and it was delicious. We had the cheese platter which wasn't anything to rave about, it's a cheese platter, bread was scrumptious. But the main star of the night was the bacon jam pizza. I ATE THE WHOLE THING. Plus two slices of the mushroom pizza which was also yummy with chili oil on it. It's a cute place, great food, not a super complex menu so no anxiety.

Real cute. Good food. I loved the sparkling matcha! I understand somewhat about the comments regarding service. Maybe the girl who was bringing food was stressed. She moved really fast and grabbed our table number before we had everything. Before we could ask if she knew we had other things coming, she practically ran away. She came out a few times not knowing which table had what, so seems like she was doing that across the board. In the end it was fine! Just not the most friendly moment. The rest was great and still worth coming back.

Everything we ate at Sister was absolutely delicious. We ordered the bucatini as a starter per our server's recommendation, and wow peas have never tasted so good! We scraped the sauce off the plate to get every last drop. We also ordered the mushroom pizza and added the house made sausage. Our server gave us a side of the "fancy ranch" and even that was amazing!! The pizza crust was delightfully crispy, and was excellent when dipped in the fancy ranch. Sister was very busy on a Saturday evening. I'd recommend making a reservation, or preparing to wait. We were lucky to get a spot at the bar. They have a cute little parklet, inside dining, and a lovely back patio area. The bartender was funny and entertaining, and provided excellent service.

I go there for coffee and baked goods during their cafe hours. Best croissants in the Bay by a mile. I am going to miss them so much :(

I'm signing up to write this review. I'm not sure if previous reviewers are appreciating the chewiness and elasticity of this crust. The salt and chew levels are perfect. I haven't had pizza this refined by the flavor possibility of dough in this area in a long time.

Thanks for not bothering to call, email, text or otherwise communicate that you are closed for those with reservations. I'll plan to dine here never. Oh I forgot to mention, this was for my birthday dinner.

I think they are short staffed, so want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But two days in a row - dinner and the breakfast the next day, the service is terrible. Breakfast is do-it-yourself! Clean the floors yourself, clean the chairs and table yourself. Never mind the pile of guacamole under the chair. I was told they have no extra hands so every table is expected to buss itself. Totally fair, but the occupants at the table before us left a disgusting mess. The night before, it took an extra 20 min for my vegetarian food to come after everyone else was eating their food. The floors and tables are filthy. I guess this is a message to the owners? Your staff needs help!

Great dinner the other night at Sister! I had been once before over a year and a half ago, the space has been changed a bit which allows for a cozy indoors, back patio, and then a front patio/ parklet. I made a reservation only which said we would be in the front patio area--I was pleasantly surprised that when we checked in they allowed us to be seated inside instead! It's a very dark but nice ambiance. The back patio looks really cute but had a long wait. Servers were kind but some food took a little while to come out. Food was great though--we got the Manila Clams (this was a delicious broth but comes with NO bread so you need to order the house bread. Definitely recommend you do so but seems like it should come with dipping bread goodness on its own), we also got the Bucatini with Uni Butter (interesting flavors but a little cold), and then the Maitake + Fennel Sausage Pizza which was great! The sausage is homemade and sooo good. If you sit inside next to the brick wall, you'll find cute notes written by previous guests--a fun touch! Recommend and would go again.

We visited Sister 3 weeks ago, the hostess led us to the bar where a welcoming barman introduced us to a limited wine list but accurate. We had a bottle of En Cavale, a well done Sauvignon Blanc from the Sacramento Delta. I got pizza with boquerones with a nice structure and well cooked. I will come back this Friday and I am looking forward to it. This is a place for pizza date night in a cool atmosphere

I've been coming here before and after Richard, the restauranteur (I don't like the racist connotations of Owner), took over the reigns. After doing it's utmost for the community and staff throughout the pandemic, Sister is back firing on all cylinders. Not one corner was cut, and the quality never diminished from its previously superior standing before Covid. ****Cute alert, Richard and his Dad even built the parklet by themselves to meet demand in crazy times. The dishes aren't huge, but that's the point, and it's awesome - you get to try a lot without being a disgusting swine. If you're cheap and want to eat an unhealthy meal, this is not the place for you. Otherwise, lean in to the experience, have some great drinks, and embrace a true Oakland gem.

Really cute and well-loved neighborhood coffee shop with wide selection of special coffee and tea drinks, plus yummy food and pastries. It's a really chill and peaceful spot to stop by.

Love this place for dinner! The food is always on point, the staff is extremely friendly, and the vibes are fun and busy but not too crowded or wild. I especially love the back patio, which is warm and romantic for a night out with friends or a date.

Sister's has got a enviable espresso setup with some beautiful wood paneling in background, an array of colorful cups and crockery and a wide coffee menu. I tried out the gibraltor and it was great (and familiar too, since I brew sightglass beans myself all the time too). The baristas are very skilled, making art in that small 'shot' glass is no joke.

The pizzas here are really good, everything is, really. We've been here twice so far. This time we had a brand new artichoke heart, olive and pesto pizza, although it is very hard not to order the bucatini with uni butter, yuzu, nori, pea tendrils and salmon roe, I could eat that every day.
