At Sister Pie, this charming West Village bakery showcases a rotating medley of imaginative pies and pastries made from locally sourced ingredients.
"Sister Pie is a nationally renowned Detroit bakery with a fresh rotation of pie flavors rolling out monthly. Expect the unexpected in seasonal pie flavors, ranging from Michigan strawberry, rhubarb, and lavender; toasted marshmallow butterscotch; or the crowd favorite, salted maple. The shop, helmed by Eater Young Gun Lisa Ludwinski (2015), emphasizes the needs of its employees and surrounding neighbors by hiring from within the community and regularly checking in with customers to find out what they wanted to see stocked in the bakery. "This iconic West Village bakery serves some of the most expertly made pastries in the city, but Sister Pie doesn’t get nearly enough credit for being affordable, too. Rosemary cookies run for 85 cents, savory hand pies hover around $4, and flaky, buttery galettes topped with egg cost $6. When you order the galette, make sure to get the swipe of dijon mustard from chef/owner Lisa Ludwinski. You can also fill a box of pastries for $20, which in turn can feed multiple people breakfast." - Danny Palumbo
"Beloved bakery Sister Pie in West Village serves up great pastries using Michigan ingredients. While the flavors rotate monthly and seasonally, the salted maple pie is a standard-bearer that tastes great any time of year — especially with a dab of whipped cream on top." - Serena Maria Daniels

The ever-changing menu focuses on seasonal Michigan ingredients and runs the gamut from cardamom tahini squash pie to buckwheat chocolate chip cookies to rose pistachio shortbread cookies. The cafe regularly features soups with pie crust croutons." - Eater Staff
