The ambiance is warm and inviting when you enter Simpl Things in the evening, greeted by the always-smiling chefs in the kitchen. The cocktails are nothing short of sensational, and the espresso martini that always gets praised among friends is one of the best in the city. Chef Betty's food has Asian flavors created with a sophisticated French technique. For brunch, their Pasta Cartl feature is definitely a must-try, allowing you to reserve a table for weekend brunch. The portions are generous, starting with two delicious fish croquetas for only $9. The tagliolini, at $19, is brimming with flavor, rarely allowing the aromatics of the ingredients to be overpowered by one another.

We’ve been here so many times now, this place is the BEST restaurant in Toronto! We’re so happy we discovered it! We just moved to the neighbourhood and discovered Simpl Things this summer. The drinks are out of this world (they have the most unique cocktail list) and the food is SO good. We’re obsessed with the udon noodles, bao buns and the DUMPLINGS (seriously, to die for). Still need to try their Chef Night, but everything we’ve had so far has been amazing. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend anyone to try it. 🤍

Walk too quickly on Queen Street West and you’ll breeze by Simpl Things tucked away on Dunn Avenue. It’s a cute and cheerful establishment swathed in pastels with a retro feel. It’s a place that locals know given their rotating customer groups during our late Saturday lunch. The brisket croquettes ($9) are a great snack or appetizer. Hot from the fryer, the crispy potato nuggets are stuffed with shredded beef. Offered as a daily special, I feel it deserves a permanent spot on the menu. In fact, an order of the croquettes with the mini wedge salad ($7) makes for a nice light lunch. The side salad is surprisingly large, almost half an iceberg lettuce topped with a creamy and zesty herb sauce and sprinkled with crunchy corn nuts, hazelnuts, and cashews. The excess dressing would go wonderfully with the croquettes. There are a lot of incredible breakfast sando ($22) around town. Simpl Things is fine, a tower of scrambled egg, bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, pickled onions, and lettuce sandwiched between thick slices of soft house made milk bread. While filled with great ingredients, they just weren’t hot enough – the bacon was cold having been premade and the omelette merely warm. Maybe it’s a matter of preference, but I like mine steaming to cast of an enticing aroma. While it doesn’t rock in the sando department, Simpl Things is where you go for boozy brunches. They offer an array of cocktails. I tried the butterfly effect ($18) that looks and tastes fruity, but not overly sweet so it makes for a great summer sipper. And if I were in the mood for more, I would have went with the cocktail flight (three for $30) or just ordered the “teeny” sized ones that are $10 each and make my own flight. Just a little tipple, a great excuse to knock back a few without getting smashed.

This place was a pleasant surprise! The food was flavorful and reasonably priced, and their Thursday $12 martini special made the experience even better. The staff were attentive and kind, and both the indoor and patio seating areas were beautifully designed. Although the weather was cold, the restaurant thoughtfully provided blankets, which added to the comfort. My only minor disappointment was the chashu portion it felt a bit small. Other than that, I would definitely return. A great new find!

We went for the daily happy hour 3-5. The 3 drinks we had were very tasty and varied. The mystery wine of the day was their Niagara rose which was decent but very good value. The chips were freshly fired with their own curry spice mix but were a bit overcooked for our tastes. Definitely a great place for a mid day patio drink.

WOW. Everything was absolutely awesome here from the decor to the food! The pickle plate was perfection and I am going to be thinking about that french toast for some time! I can’t wait to come back here for dinner!

New favorite speakeasy on queen west! Truly a hidden gem! Nora our bartender not only whipped up some really cool cocktails for us but is also fun to chat with about her travels as a bartender. Fun spot for a night cap. Will come back to try the food there and of course more cocktails 🍹🍸

Though small, Simpl things delivers delicious food and cocktails as well as a great dining experience. We ordered several dishes and loved everything but the big standouts were the Chinese eggplant, black pepper calamari, and grilled mushroom salad. The cocktails were balanced and refined. Our ube custard tart dessert was the perfect finale. This restaurant delivers a unique dining experience in comparison to a lot of other Toronto spots and it was a welcome change. I would definitely recommend visiting and checking it out!
