At Silver Lake Wine, embrace the vibe of a wine temple with a dizzying selection of artisanal wines and microbrews, all while enjoying casual tastings.
"Silverlake Wine will host Mas Vino and Wonderwerk, two natural wine specialists, along with chilled wine, pizza from Triple Beam, and stick-and-poke tattoos." - Rebecca Roland
"Silver Lake Wine is the mecca of wine and fine spirits. Come here to find a special bottle for your wine enthusiast friend or simply to find a table wine. They source wine from small-batch, often family-owned, wineries. The staff is quick to navigate their special inventory with their expertise knowledge of taste and origin. They host weekly tastings but check the schedule for availibilty." - Presshaus LA
"SIlverlake Wine is a full-on Eastside institution, open on Glendale Blvd. in the heart of Silver Lake since 2003. They’ve got every kind of varietal you could name, plus a few you’ve probably never heard of. Call them ahead of time, and they’ll be able to put together whatever you need - just give them an idea of what you like and what you want to spend, and they’ll tell you whether to get a gewürztraminer or a gruner. They’ve also got locations in Highland Park and the Arts District. App delivery, or pick-up in-store." - brett keating
"A Glendale Blvd. institution for nearly 20 years, Silverlake Wine has been selling natural wines long before every restaurant in town had a gewürztraminer on their bottle list. And they’re still ahead of the curve - chances are, whatever new bottles you see at Silverlake Wine will show up at your favorite restaurant in the near future. Whether you call with a question or just stop in, their staff is extremely helpful, and they’re doing curbside pick-up and free local delivery. All the same goes for their Highland Park and Pasadena locations, as well." - brett keating
"With its poured-concrete floors and rustic shelving, Glendale Boulevard’s Silver Lake Wine looks like a wine temple. And in many ways, it is. Bottles, stacked from floor to ceiling, cover every square foot with no real organizing principle (or at least not one that we could figure out), and that’s half the fun. That weird, random bottle you had at a friend’s wedding in Corsica last summer? They probably have it. Call ahead and ask for their top choices or have the knowledgeable staffers point you in the right direction. Order four or more bottles and delivery to several zip codes (check the site) is free. There are two other locations, in Highland Park and Downtown LA."
