Silver Sands isn’t the kind of place you stumble into, it’s the kind of place you find when you’re lucky. Tucked near Duncans in Trelawny, this beach is pure Jamaica: calm, local, and blissfully untouched by the tourist machine.
It’s one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever set foot on, white sand, turquoise water, and a sense of peace that feels almost sacred. You won’t find cruise ship crowds or all-inclusive chaos here. Instead, you’ll find families picnicking, kids playing soccer in the sand, and the kind of easy laughter that only comes when people feel at home.
I was one of the only Americans around, and that made it even better, a true glimpse into how Jamaicans vacation. We stayed at Mai Tai Villa, and it couldn’t have been a better setup. The team who cooked and cared for us made the trip feel personal and real — like staying with extended family who just happen to be incredible hosts.
For families or travelers who want a genuine, soulful experience of Jamaica, Silver Sands is it. Quiet, local, and absolutely unforgettable.
