Silk City Diner is a cozy, renovated spot with a charming outdoor beer garden, serving up comforting classics and a relaxed vibe perfect for brunch.
"Silk City is an unusual hybrid of classic diner, neighborhood bar, nightclub, and outdoor beer garden. The Northern Liberties restaurant part is housed in a 1950s dining car, with the attached nightclub to one side and the big, colorful, covered, and heated beer garden on the other. Open daily for dinner, and Saturdays and Sundays for brunch, Silk City offers a full-service bar through it all. Try a unique cocktail like the Black and Blue Espresso Martini, blending blueberry vodka, cold brew, Kahlua, Frangelico, and lavender syrup." - Olivia DiPasquale, Emily Teel
"Sure, you could go to Silk City during the day and have brunch in their outdoor beer garden. You could come for dinner in the retro diner car. Or you could show up a few drinks deep at midnight and head straight up to “The Lounge,” where they have a bar, guest DJs, and a dance floor that’s always full. Located on Spring Garden, the menu is packed with comfort food like short rib mac and cheese, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, and crispy buttermilk fried chicken. Definitely go back to Silk City the next morning for some pancakes, though, if you can convince your friends to meet you again after a late night out. " - candis mclean
"A diner with an outdoor garden, multiple bars, and DJs might sound like a drunken fever dream, but in Philly, it exists on Spring Garden Street. Located in a renovated old-school diner, the menu cuisine hops. So you’ll see amped-up crowds sharing everything from solid burgers and glazed salmon to seitan wings pre- and post-dance floor. As a bonus, the kitchen closes at 1am on the weekends. It's that rare place where you can have a decent sandwich and dance to Backstreet Boys under hanging lights after midnight. " - candis mclean
