I’ve come here every few years & the experience is always great. I just had a date, we did a 3 course meal and it was less than $80. To me this was insane because I thought the bill should have been $150. I tried something new this time & I woke up next morning craving more. This must have put crack in those noodles, it was so good!

This is an upscale, decently crowded restaurant right opposite to Manhattan views. We enjoyed our food - flavorful and packed with good spice. My starter was a huge size and had spicy tuna + layers of pastry dough which was a good heart eat. My main course was hearty and good sized too. Service was pretty decent and we enjoyed our dinner at Shi.

You can definitely find a better place than this one. I don’t recommend appetizers like shrimp dumplings there is barely shrimp it’s all mashed and mixed inside with dumpling dough. Fried cauliflower it’s not fried it is a cauliflower with breadcrumbs doesn’t taste good. The sushi rolls crunchy spicy salmon, a little bit of salmon is mashed with something it’s not like an original sushi very small portion of 6 pieces. Chicken dumplings were quite good (4 pieces) but not the best. The only good dish was sesame chicken with rice. Although broccoli wasn’t cooked enough, cold and hard.

Food was really good and the prices were extremely reasonable. My only problem was our waitress came over to our table at least 15 times to ask if we were done, or we wanted to wrap anything. I could see if it was packed but there were so many empty tables around us. We got there at 9 and the large table next to us just got there shortly before we were leaving at 10:30. I probably would’ve gotten 1 more drink or even dessert but she frustrated me so much coming over to the table. We were only 2 people. And when she wasn’t coming over she was staring us down. Besides that I would go again for the food and ambiance.

We came here on a Friday evening and promptly got seated. The hostess was courteous and waiter was okay. The food is a bit overpriced for me but I think it’s mostly due to the area and location of the restaurant. We sat outside but could tell that it’s a very nice Chinese restaurant. We ordered the beef skewer and lycee calamari which were pretty good. Would have appreciated more for the price. For entree we got the orange beef and seafood crispy noodles which were both pretty good. Overall I’d recommend it but if you’re expecting Chinatown or Flushing Chinese food at the same prices, this isn’t it. It’s definitely more upscale and the prices are higher but not ridiculous.

As Canada was burning down, and the NYC air was more toxic than the average sludge I inhale, I decided to get sushi! The service was amazing and the food was great! I do feel it was a bit over priced but it’s a nice restaurant in a nice area right by the water and the park so you have to go into it knowing you’re paying for the vibe. Bathroom was pretty beat up but it works none the less. if you’re not easily impressed and have a complex then this may not satisfy you. If you want good food, you want to treat yourself to decent Asian food and then take a walk along the water before or afterwards then this is the spot!

I’ve been going to SHI for over 10 years and it’s still one of the best restaurants/lounges I’ve been to. The food is delicious- I highly recommend the beef and asparagus- it’s my favorite dish. The atmosphere is beautiful and so is the view. Not sure why the back area has been closed the past few times I’ve been there recently, but I do hope it opens back up.

I went to Shi Long Island City on Friday around 8:00pm ish. It was a good crowd. A lot of birthday dinners. We did not have a reservation , but was a party of two and was able to get seated rather quickly. We ordered drinks, a Summer Essence Martini and my friend ordered Titos. I enjoyed my drink. The food order was lettuce chicken wrap , cubed steak with brown rice and a California roll . The prices are reasonable $6.00 for California Roll. Ambiance was nice , the owner walked in and greeted everyone.. I was impressed , I will be back !

We had a mini college reunion here because of the proximity to the water. The ambiance was great, but that is all. The food was ok, nothing memorable. I ordered the super punch mocktail and started with the Toro Scallion roll. For the entree, I ordered the Crispy Noodles with Seafood. My entree dish was generous, and I ate half, and I took the rest home. When I requested to take my dish to go, the waitress took my plate as I was still eating. I even stated to her to let me take my last bite. For dessert, I got the Sundae Shi, and the same waitress gave me three scoops of vanilla ice cream and asked if I wanted the liquor. I responded, of course. The liquor was supposed to be part of the sundae. The sundae cost $11 because it contained liquor. In addition, when we got there, the hostess said we had to finish by 9 - that should have been mentioned when the reservation was made. This set the tone for the dinner. We had just sat down, and the waitress asked what we wanted to drink. We had to tell her we were waiting for another friend, needed time, and requested she come back. We felt rushed to finish our meal from the beginning. We didn't care for the food, and personally, I won't be returning. I've had better food and service elsewhere.

I have been coming to shi for years. But I came for my birthday dinner recently and couldn't help but notice all the fruit flies. Like an insane amount I killed 3 and one that was about to go in my food. The only reason I give it 3 stars is the drinks are always good and so is the food.

It was cool, not the best, but cool overall. The drinks was a little weak, maybe the bartender for that day but nonetheless weak drinks.

Food was delicious and the staff were great. I had a spinach and egg kiche and then treated myself for a yummy apple and cheese crepe.

I never leave reviews but this place was amazing! The food, atmosphere, service, and drinks were all great. I will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful restaurant with friendly and welcoming staff. Thanks to our waitress who called herself "mama". She was so sweet and her recommendations were spot on. Lychee martinis were phenomenal. We also ordered the shumai and chicken potstickers (ate them before i could take a picture). Everything was great. Would definitely return.

We loved our food and we were satisfied with the portions, service was fast and place is divey. Would go back there again sometime. They dont have a valet parking and you cant find a parking easily

Nice ambiance and good service but I would not come here for the food. The tuna crispy rice was thick and mushy. Steak cubes were unseasoned. The crispy seabass texture was good but the sweet and spicy sauce tasted like the bottles you would buy from a supermarket and just poured on with some fresh peppers in it. The lychee martini and whisky smash drink was okay. There are better restaurants in the area esp for this price point

Been here many years ago and loved the food came in recently with friends and ordered a ton of food I was so disappointed it's certainly not what it use to be we were served soup dumplings twice we ordered Bao. Food is just average. Service was fast and attentive though.

I came in with my family and they refused to seat us. They asked if I had a res, I didn't. They said the only seats available is in the "lounge" area which is a couch by the door. I asked when is the next available opening, someone else walked over and said that's the only seat they had. Now, being black and being told I can't get a seat really doesn't fit. They refused to give us proper service and they said the only seat they had was by the door, no table, with a toddler? DO NOT GIVE THE PLACE ANY BUSINESS.

The staff was friendly, polite to attend, and had recommendations which I always appreciate because I got wonderful dishes because of that everything I had was delicious I thought very reasonable for putting in the city. The sake was delicious lovely decor, lovely bathrooms parking is a little tricky, but you can pay for it at the garage.

Food was good, with portions generous enough to share. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and made sure we understood the preparations of various dishes. The bar drinks were spot on. Ours was a party of 5, and everyone drank different drinks. We ate a LOT, including desserts and drinks, and for 5 adults, the bill was only $375. All things considered, very reasonable. Atmosphere was lovely. Shi is a smaller establishment, but space is divided very thoughtfully. I didn't give it 5 stars bc although the food was good, there was nothing that was a striking standout or unique. Upside, if you're traveling with kids, they'll find something they like. Menus were physically tired and worn. Maybe from all the love they get but new menus would be an easy fix to make the table experience feel more fresh, clean and sharp.

SHI is a spacious sushi restaurant in LIC with great views of Gantry Park. I thought their food was pretty good. I didn't enjoy their bacon wrapped shrimp that much but I did like their gyoza and sushi.

We get to go food regularly from Shi and it is always excellent. In addition we go in for a drink at the bar and the service is excellent. Thank you Charlie !

A few new tries to review. The spring rolls are okay. I didn't care for the green curry shrimp or basil chicken. But the mapo tofu was excellent, as was the popcorn beef!

The food here is delicious. Even if you don't like sushi which I don't there's something there for you. They'll also make something not spicy if you prefer that. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The place is large and really has a nice vibe especially where it's located.

Came here with a group, overall very good. Yummy drinks - both alcoholic and non; I appreciate they have a section for mocktails. A good variety in the appetizer options. We got vegetable spring rolls, lettuce wraps, kani salad, eel rolls, and calamari. Entrees we got were orange chicken, general tso chicken, and spicy Thai basil shrimp. Portions were good sized and not overpriced. They even gave a nice little Mother's Day ice cream for the table. The service was good, not too long and they accommodated our no-seed diet. The decor was very nice and different. Parking is almost impossible but there is a municipal lot a few blocks away.

Asian Fusion is not my vibe, and yet I've found myself at SHI on many a Friday night over the past year. Why? Because the Friday and Saturday night DJ knows how to set the tone for a good time, and when throwback dance tunes are blaring through the speakers, you can't help but have a good time. As the years pass I find my habits changing as I seek out Friday night plans. While I still like to turn up and find the next dance floor, it is equally as important for me to find a place to sit down when I want. SHI is the perfect happy medium between a chill lounge and a club, with lounge seats you don't have to reserve and an easy to access bar. Getting older can be hip and fun! The crowd is mostly a local deep Queens crowd, though I could easily see people pulling up from other parts of the city. Looking around the fashion would indicate most were probably from outside the city, all looking to bop to the DJ, and maybe have a few sushi rolls while they're at it. Drinks are fine, but it's the weekend vibes I'm here writing about. The people here know how to have a good time and won't judge you for getting down too.

I wandered down on a cold night to have dinner at SHI, Nice looking place and the nearby view of Manhattan is stunning. The food was OK. Sushi was good not great. Service was great. Overall not a bad experience.

This review is for take out as I haven't had the chance to dine in here yet. We ordered via grubhub and got the gantry special roll (8 pieces crunchy spicy salmon topped with salmon and avocado), chicken fried rice, and wonton. The food was ready for pickup at the time specified- there is a shi to go next to the actual shi restaurant. Pick up the order at shi to go storefront. The chicken fried rice was great for the price and quality! Great for lunch and costs around $11. The wonton soup was comforting. The sushi rolls were really fresh!! I would def try other sushi rolls on the menu. The rolls are about $15 and came with 8 pieces. The sushi roll themselves was not very filling but it is good quality. Great variety of different items on the menu! Also very convenient to order if you live by in LIC!

I was visiting a friend in NYC who suggested that we give this place a try. Overall, the service and food here was good, but it was nothing spectacular. I had the Mapo Tofu with Pork, which I was able to customize by ordering it as less spicy. With less heat, I was hoping to better taste the flavors of the dish; however, the mapo tofu was somewhat on the bland side. It was good nonetheless and paired well with the unlimited rice they provided.

After ten years- still a fan. The food, the service, the drinks the cool people ( regulars) you meet at the bar. String drinks. Great spot for a casual date, first date or bring the family. Today was lychee martini (YUM) Shumai ( also a HOT YUM) edamame and BLAST sushi roll- ready for liftoff. Always a fave when I'm in town.

Review for takeout experience. SHI was one of the restaurants that's a quick walk from Gantry Plaza State Park. We were too nervous to leave and to lose our viewing spot for the MACY's July 4th fireworks, so we decided to do takeout instead of dining in. We ordered via the Seated app and I went to pick-up the food at the designated time. We ordered three rolls (i.e. crunchy spicy tuna, crunchy spicy salmon, and spicy snow crab) and the cold sesame noodles with chicken. We definitely enjoyed the rolls, but we thought the cold noodles were OK and lacked some flavor. Overall not bad experience and we will dine in next time if we are in the area again.

Food is fantastic as always been. But the restaurant is finally showing its wear and tear ...from the furniture and the actual menus. The staff are always friendly and very attentive.

This is the venue of the recent bridal shower we attended. Awesome place. I was fascinated by the door when we walked in. More fascinated by the ambiance when get in . It has the vibes , just perfect for the affair. The welcoming lounge has beautiful setting, the bar has perfect location, the chandeliers are mesmerizing, the paintings are looking pretty nice, the table setting are adorable and the city view are just perfect! The food - appetizers and the buffett food were great, Asian fusion food always works for me. The drinks were awesome. The service was beautiful. Everyone had a great time. I could tell that the hostess/es were happy with their accomplishments. You could ask to validate your parking ticket in the bar for a discount. Definitely coming back for a personal dining.

Long before the recent boom of Asian eateries in the Vernon Blvd area of LIC, the go-to spot for many residents was SHI. Unlike the more nuanced, authentic joints, SHI brings a very different vibe that I've appreciated over the years: fusionesque (Americanized) Asian options, killer cocktails, lovely ambiance, and one of the best views (#1) of the Manhattan skyline one could ask for in NYC. It is a damn good looking restaurant, which feels modern and contemporary all throughout. The bar area is a great place to watch sports and mingle with fellow cocktailers, while the lobby area is perfect to lounge and indulge in the ambiance and there is lots of indoor seating as well as outdoor options for groups and small parties alike. If you're a purist of Asian cuisine, then the food might not be in your wheelhouse. Save for smaller dumplings, sashimi, fried rice and noodle dishes, expect a mean crab rangoon, helping of popcorn beef, and even a sushi egg roll. If you can get past all of that, then I would venture to order a number of things to sample. Variety is definitely encouraged here. The drinks are what take the cake for me. They're potent, colorful, and make for a really great happy hour atmosphere. The bartenders are excellent, in particular Eric and Charlie from back the in day. It was bad experience. Nobody was in the restuarant. We waited 45 for sushi. When we were awaiting the sushi they delivered the fish. The management would let us know to order something else so we didn't have to wait 45 minutes. Also,they have to upgrade interior furniture. It looks like it is from the opening of the resturant more than 10 years ago.

The food here is awesome!! We shared a bunch of items, as a group. My favorites was the Mango chicken and shrimp, the bacon wrapped shrimp, and shrimp curry. The ambiance is really nice. Perfect for a large group or and intimate dinner with friends and family. For sure this place is a hidden gem in LIC

Solid Chinese spot in LIC with a good variety of entree selections ranging from beef, chicken, and seafood. Came here for dinner and order several dishes to share for the table. My two favorite dishes: -curry noodles: the flavor of the curry noodles was really good and this was quite unique as a menu offering, it's not super spicy and a good sharable dish -popcorn beef: sweet and crunchy coated beef, really liked this one

SHI is the classic narrative of how hip and new restaurants eventually wither away when not cared for. I remember the first time I stopped by for a birthday dinner several years ago. There was liveliness in the air and it felt like the place you wanted to be at, with that gorgeous city view over LIC. Attentive waiters, music to set the mood. I used to visit frequently during that period, even for a quick lunch. I went back for yet another birthday this month and you walk into an establishment with holes in the wall at the main entrance. This essentially sets the tone for the rest of your experience. Seriously, why is there a hole in the wall?! The staff was inattentive and didn't care when we expressed we were there for a celebratory occasion. She took the order, in an out, and that's the most we saw of her. The food came right away as the restaurant was at 5% capacity at best and pretty quiet. The food itself was A-okay, nothing to write home about. The calamari and kani salad appetizers were my favorite. The salmon sashimi was melt in your mouth good, and the rolls were subpar. The tuna toro was mediocre, if not stale. I love toro, but perhaps they got it off season because it didn't taste good at all as sashimi or in the roll. Overall, meh. Not going back again. Not worth the price or time. Hope SHI gets their flare back because the decor really is beautiful and has so much potential as was the case before.

Mediocre Chinese take out food at a fancier location and price tag. Popcorn beef has the flavor profile of orange chicken (sweeter end) and general tso chicken was soggy

The ambience of SHI is unmatched. The decor and vibe that the restaurant emits feels classy, upscale, and polished. However the food was a complete miss. Beef Pho - felt like their own twist on the traditional Pho. While it looked appetizing, the broth was bland and the noodles were clumpy. Not good! General Tso Chicken - it was mediocre at best. At the price point of $20+ a plate, I would have expected something better than your typical takeout restaurant. Would have been okay if it was half the price. Philly Roll - meh. It was ok! While SHI passes the initial smell test, but it misses after further inspection. The menu looks like a hodgepodge of various Asian dishes, non of which appear to be executed well.

Always prefer saying the good stuff. I've been to shi a bunch of times over the years, especially when they first opened. They were terrific, everything was shiny and new, food was delicious, service was on par. These days not so much. It looks like it's under new management. Also, the back patio is closed indefinitely. If it's your first time, enjoy, there could still be magic in that. If you're like me and want to revisit, I'd say pass. The cauliflower tempura was great. The lychee calamari was creative and something I might order again. Our drinks were strong, a plus but didn't make the food better. The special sushi roll combos are boring, the fish is fresh though. I got the shrimpy and it was underwhelming. The pork potstickers were a nice size but no flavor. The summer rolls were fine, nothing special. The cheesecake was odd tasting. The choco molt was perfect, they were out of the apple tart so we got the banana spring roll which was fun and a very funky tasting creme brûlée. Service was attentive but sub par. Girl at the front was helpful and personable. I'd go with a group to share but not for a romantic dinner or upscale experience.

The ambiance is very quiet and cozy. Our server was very knowledgeable on the dishes and could answer all our questions. The portions for the food were good and the food was delicious!

SHI was a huge disappointment. My partner and I visited at night, there were no tables available inside so we opted to be seated outside. We ordered appetizers and an entree each. My entree came out first and then what felt like twenty minutes later, my partner's entree came out (really unsure why they would not being them out together because I had to eat without him due to the food getting cold) the server said three times that our appetizers were delayed but legit did not come out until we were both done with our meals. The food was just okay, the margarita was horrible and you could just smell the cheap tequila, it made our stomachs hurt. The calamari was so greasy and cooked weird we did not finish it. The prawns were just okay and so was the sushi. Would not recommend this place based on our experience.

Food was too salty, have had this dish each time I've patronized this establishment and it was way too much. We usually have a very nice waiter whom we tip well but tonight this women was very rude I felt like she didn't want to serve us. I won't be visiting Shi anytime soon ...

I have only had take out from this establishment although next door boasts a pretty swanky scene with great music. The service is terrific and the take out preparation time is reasonable. I like everything on the menu except the curry. I found the curry dishes a bit too bland for my taste. I would definitely recommend anything else on the menu. I have yet to go next door, but I there will be an update in the future on the experience dining indoors. I'm hoping there will be a DJ the night I make my cameo. We will see.

This is a go to Place. Great ambiance, you can come here for drinks and apps if you just wanted to. Came here with my sister and brother, here is what we ordered and loved. Apps-- pork dumplings Sushi-- salmon avocado , shrimp tempura , Medusa , Spicy tuna --- yes we order 4 different types. If you are into something different do Medusa Mains-- Chicken lo Mein

Unfortunately I gave this restaurant one star which I have never done before and it was because of the terrible dining experience I had. Upon arriving at the restaurant at 6:30pm with a reservation, I was told that they would need to table by 8 PM which my party and I agreed to and sat down for dinner. My party and I were having a great time, enjoying the lettuce wraps and catching up with one another. At 7:15pm my waitress proceeded to tell me that we would have to get up at 8pm because they needed the table for another reservation, we told her we were aware and that was fine. Fifteen minutes later she came back to our table and mentioned it again. I found this to be rude, especially because I had made a 6:30pm reservation. Around 7:50pm a completely different waitress came to our table to tell us that they would need us to hurry up and finish eating because they needed the table at 8:00pm. This is when my dining experience was interrupted one too many times for something that I was already aware of so I asked to speak to the manager Chan. Chan approached our table very aggressively and in an aggressive tone asked us what the problem was. I explained my inconvenience, and told Chan that my party and I were interrupted mid conversation constantly throughout our dinner and told that we would have to leave by 8:00pm, he was't apologetic and didn't seem to find anything wrong with that had just happened. He then aggressively asked if we were done eating and if we would like to take our food to go. It seemed as though we were just a number to him and his only concern was flipping tables. When it comes to dinning, it's not just about the taste of the food, it's about the total dining experience which includes how the staff treats you. Unfortunately, I have experienced better service and customer service at fast food restaurants and it's a shame that this kind of management will prevent me and my friends from returning to SHI. When I asked the manager if he could do anything to fix the terrible dining experience we just had, he offered us a second round of drinks but told us we would have to drink them at the bar. I feel as though the manager did not handle the situation in the best way he could of.

Takeout is terrible. Nearly my entire order was old except for the Kani salad. The ribs were rock hard and the rice looks old as well. Quality has declined so much.

The service and ambiance here was pleasant. We were able to get seated rather quickly even on a hot busy Saturday night. My family and I ordered the salmon teriyaki, sautéed Chinese broccoli, green curry prawns, fried fish fillet sweet chili style, and duck. Our favorites were the fried fish fillet and salmon teriyaki. Personally, I was a big fan of the sautéed broccoli. Each dish was thoroughly enjoyable, but I couldn't help but notice each dish was a bit "healthier" than what you'd get at a traditional Thai restaurant. If you're looking for traditional flavors and richness, you might be a bit disappointed. I thought I would be too but I ended the night on a good note. Each dish is mild, so if you're looking for a kick then max out their spice levels because you won't get any otherwise. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

If you're planning to go, book in advance. This place is always busy on weekends, ESPECIALLY when it's nice out. Recommendations: (in the evening) visit the Gantry State Plaza (it's about a block or two) because it's a beautiful view of the city. Orders: Steak cubes, fried banana crepe, uni, toro, bao Steak cubes were delicious - it was tender and perfect. Served with brown rice and salad. Banana crepe with vanilla ice cream and honey - 5/5. Boyfriend insisted fried bananas has a similar consistency to ice cream and he wasn't wrong.

This place is sooo pretty, food is great with a view and reasonably priced. Be ready to dress up, which isnt required but you will notice many are dresses up bc of the restaurants ambiance. Drinks r good. Service excellent and always polite. Food good as well. Had their sushi and several orher entrees

The decor space is nice. We went today to try some food because we were thinking of reserving for a large group. We were seated immediately & got some appetizers. The vegetables rolls were okay, cauliflower bites were lighted fried. However the food was bland not well seasoned for Asian fusion. We got vegetable soups. The soup was like warm not hot at all for soup on a cold wet day. Order the general Taos chicken tasted undercooked we had to ask for rice which came out warm & undercooked. The bok choy & mushroom was okay rice was undercooked. The upset of the day was we ordered a cheesecake dessert, and before my daughter could take a bite she noticed it was ants crawling all over. The waitress was too nonchalant about the dessert when she walked over to the table the waiter that cleaned the table seemed more concern & looked alarmed. Thank goodness it happened I would have been horrified if that happened to all my guests I invited to eat here! The waitress took off it off the bill but seem to have an attitude & act like it was no big deal! Eat at your own risk!!!!
