Tony had northern Indian food here. Lunch dates: John and Shamarke, two asylum seekers living in Hong Kong.

Was bit skeptical about the place having seen the reviews before hand. Doubts have been cleared to be fair. It was a good experience. The food was given to us fresh and warm. Tender Afghan pulao, decent Chapli kebabs with soft naans and roti. The chicken curry was somewhat decent too. Service was top-notch, and the owner personally greeted us, even offering complimentary tea. Great spot, can't fault it.

It's pretty obvious that two separate chefs are trying to cover the region, so skip the Indian food and go straight for the Pakistani/Afghani signature dishes—the Chapli Kebab and the Namkeen Mutton Karahi. And just FYI: I'm saying this as an Indian before anyone pulls out the race card! There are better options in TST to get your Indian fix.

Small but OK Indian restaurant. The food style is more Bangladeshi rather than authentic Indian. The decor and inside needs a revamp. It was not that busy but service was slow. Food was mediocre and nothing spectacular as promised.

Really great food - we surprisingly went to this restaurant after going to Moti Palace and receiving extremely poor service (Moti Palace told us they were getting a large reservation and they seemed to not care about our business whatsoever; we felt so unwelcomed/ unwanted at Moti palace that we left when no one would take our order). Luckily for us, we walked by Sher-E-Punjab and the staff had a really friendly smile so we decided to sit down. The food was superb; we really enjoyed the fresh and spicy pani puri, the stuffed naan, the mutton saag, and my hubby really liked the spiced beef kebabs (whereas I found it slightly too salty). I also appreciate that the staff made our mango lassi to my liking (no added sugar) even though it wasn't typically made that way :) - the sourness from the yogurt went well with the spicy food. Finally, I appreciate that Sher-E-Punjab have both an indoor "restaurant" space that is closed/ more private and has AC, as well as tables in the main hallways of Chungking that uses fans.

Never take away from this restaurant. I have ordered kabali plao from this restaurant. The order is served within 5 mins, however when I open the box at home, it only contain rice and carrot with old and new rice mix. There is no meat inside. It also have bad smell and cost 200 HKD. Very bad experience, be aware!!!!

Authentic tasting Indian food. First time for me to try Chapali Kebab on seeing recommendations on Google and it was delicious. Squeeze plenty of lime on it. Mutton Curry was just righty spiced and goes well with plain naan. (You can also try garlic or butter naan) Inside seating is available if you want to be seated in privacy with family or friends. (By the way, water was not served though a tumbler was provided, I think it’s a thing with many restaurants in Hongkong who wants you to buy water) Service was fast, portions big and taste as promised.

I've got to say, I've never had my expectations be completely wrong on this level. I reluctantly went and walked away very happy. The food was astonishingly good and very reasonably priced. This is a hidden treasure of Hong Kong. Every dish was pretty much amazing. I never leave the island but I'd make a point of coming to TST for this.

🐐Generally in 🇭🇰Hong Kong, any restaurant serving “South Asian” cuisine especially in Chungking Mansions (a location made even more famous by Wong Kar Wai’s “Chungking Express” is deemed 🇮🇳Indian Food! In truth, cuisines in India is diverse across its many regions; and then beyond the borders of India; there’s also Bangladesh, Pakistan.. and IF we’re talking about 🇵🇰Pakistan; again the cuisines are rich and diverse from south versus up northwest in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which borders 🇦🇫Afghanistan… Peshawar, the largest city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is primarily populated by the Pashtun ethnic group which itself is of Eastern Iranian ancestry.. 🥩 “Sher-E Punjab” was a shooting location in Anthony Bourdain’s final visit to 🇭🇰Hong Kong in January 2018, less than 6 months before his passing. The food wasn’t a feature, as he was there to discuss the plight of refugees in the city. During that time and until a few months ago, “Sher-E Punjab” was just another eatery with a “Indian/Punjabi/Nepali/Jain” menu.. However, there now appears to be a shift in focus with Chef Hassan introducing the rich meaty flavours of the Pashtun through its exceptional 🐐Namkeen Mutton Karahi, 🐄Chapli Kebabs and 🐑Lamb Chops.. The meats are well-marinated, at the appropriate level of 🌶️spiciness; and oh so meltingly tender… Check it out! 😋

Yelp
I enjoy this Halal restaurant in Chunking Mansion very much. It's small and clean, quiet, and the service is very friendly. They have a wide variety of foods to choose from, very reasonable prices, and I've never been disappointed in a meal here. I can't recommend any particular item, everything I've tried has been tasty. I come here frequently. Four stars because they can never seem to bring your food out all at once.
