The MICHELIN Guide Beijing 2026: New Stars Rise, Mentor Chef Award Debuts in Mainland China

"Reopened in Beijing in 2024, this Hong Kong brand blends gourmet and home-style fare within an interior of pale wood and apple-green details that echo lush greenery; the long-serving head chef demonstrates unquestionable skill—must-tries include the ge zha (a savory egg custard, floured and deep-fried until crispy) and the osmanthus scrambled egg with crabmeat and shredded shrimp, which bursts with umami." - The MICHELIN Guide

"The name refers to the owner – the seventh son who learned his culinary skills from his father from the age of 14. The must-try barbecue meats include roast suckling pig which is smoky and rich. The skills of the kitchen team are manifest in traditional dishes like deep-fried egg custard with chicken kidney, and steamed beef patty with dried tangerine peel. The smart room comes complete with teak floors, gold accents and warm lighting." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong - Eater

"For a taste of classic, high‐end Cantonese cooking, you can’t go past Seventh Son. The restaurant may only be a few years old, but the recipes and techniques reflect generations of tradition. Pre‐order the suckling pig if you’re part of a large group. [$$$]" - Janice Leung Hayes

19 Best Dim Sum Spots in Hong Kong

"Seventh Son nails classic, elegant Cantonese cuisine. Come at lunch for the dim sum; it's a "tycoons' canteen" during weekdays with groups of businesspeople and office celebrations. At dinner, stick to simple homecooked classics like steamed beef patty with dried mandarin peel or order the suckling pig a day in advance. The place runs like a well-oiled machine: Service is efficient, and mistakes are rarely made. The senior staff speak enough English to communicate with overseas visitors." - Kate Springer, Janice Leung Hayes

Seventh Son is an upscale Cantonese restaurant that serves your typical Hong Kong dishes but more on the premium end. Their specialty of Suckling Pig needs to be ordered in advance and comes only in the whole size. Back then, you’d need to make a reservation a few days in advance as the place would be packed despite the high prices (probably due to their Michelin Star) but in our last visit, there was plenty of empty seats. Though we did enjoy the food and the service is still as good as before, we find that it no longer holds the same allure as it once did.

Wish I could have taken more photos of every single dish. Much of what we had were really good here. Really liked the roast pork skin. You ate it like Peking Duck and that was just amazing. Again, could say the same for many of the other dishes too. Also, this restaurant has baby seats which were super helpful. There’s also a diaper changing area in the disabled toilet (not the best but at least it’s available). All in all, pretty good for families.

Trust me this place has the absolute BEST suckling pig in the world! Top notch Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong located on the 3rd floor of Wharney Hotel, Wanchai. We reserved table and order suckling pig 3 days in advance. **some menu like suckling pig, lobsters, pecking duck need to order at least 2 days in advance. Mr. Roy (assistant manager) very helpful, he can walk you through all the details of what must be order in advance and recommend the must try menu in Seventh Son. We enjoyed every bites of what we have ordered. Suckling pig- the crispy-ness of the skin, juicy-ness of the tender meat, the smell of perfectly grilled pork. Another star here but it is not in the menu, steamed egg with dry scallops. Juggling juggling. Just order it, trust me, you definitely won’t regret. The price is expensive but it is worth every penny you spend.

This Chinese restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Wharney Hotel in Wanchai. You can reach there by taking MTR and get off at Wanchai station with a further 5 minutes walk. The restaurant has won The Michelin Award several times and that's why the price of the dishes is high. Though the dishes are delicious but in my own opinion, it's not worth that high price.

Google
Absolute rip off, leeching off their Michelin star I guess. I was dining in alone, I asked the waiter for smaller dish recommendations as the portion sizes for most dishes are for 2-3 people. Paid almost 1100 HKD for the most boring food I've had anywhere in China and two small bottles of Tsing Taos. Definitely don't bother with this restaurant if you are travelling alone. Service was good nonetheless, they don't speak much English but they are helpful.

Seventh Son Restaurant: Delicious Cantonese Cuisine Seventh Son Restaurant is a well-known Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong, famous for its premium Cantonese dishes and high-quality dim sum. It’s popular among both locals and tourists. One of the must-try dishes is the Roast Suckling Pig, which I highly recommend booking in advance to ensure you don’t miss out. I tried several dishes during my visit, and I can honestly say that everything was delicious. The flavors were so memorable that I still think about them and can’t wait to go back for another meal.

Maybe the new year eve atmosphere made the game place electrified. Service was great/good. Mr Hu was exceptional in making us very at home. He has been with the restaurant for 20 years+. The best Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong that I have tasted. Came for suckling pig but sold out by 7.30pm!!😞😞 The tables was not fully occupied. All in a celebration mood to usher 2025!!

The food and service were exceptionally good. We ordered a few dishes in advanced and it was worth it. The crab was tasty but a bit too hard to eat. Shrimp with egg yolk sauce was very fresh and the sauce was great. I love the crab with garlic and do was my favourite. We wanted to order some fried rice which looks so good but they only make it for 4-6 ppl and there were only 2 of us so we got the abalone congee instead. It was good but I wouldn’t say exceptional as we find many great congee in Hong Kong. Pigeon was good but a bit too small. I love dessert but they didn’t have too many varieties so we went for the one we don’t find often in other places which was chestnut egg yolk. The vegetable was gvery good. All in all, a great place to enjoy food. Would order the other things next time when we have more ppl, would love to try their chicken and goose. So far the seafood we selected were excellent!

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Really delicious upscale restaurant that specializes in suckling pig. The service was incredible and the food was amazing. Everything we got was delicious. It is a little pricey, compared to other restaurants in Hong Kong, but totally worth it. You do have to order the suckling pig in advance so make sure to give them a call or message them through WeChat / WhatsApp. Suckling Pig: *5/5*: The skin was perfectly crispy and fatty. They serve it with fluffy steamed bread (mantou) with hoisin sauce and sugar on the side. It sounds weird putting sugar on it, but definitely recommend trying. They serve five dishes with the pork: crispy skin, pork meat, soup, pork intestines, and forgot what the last one was. Walnut Shrimp: *5/5*: The shrimp pieces were huge and fried perfectly. This was one of my favorite dishes. Do wish it was a little sweeter but that's just my person preference. Loved it! Stir Fried Lobster: *5/5*: If you love lobster, this is a must order. The sauce was perfectly coating the lobster and it's so so good.

Yelp
I have booked from overseas a month before with deposit. The communication with restaurant was good. Roy was quick and courteous. Service was 5/5! The location was easy to find but it was confusing to get to the right floor. Even when the address listed as the 3/f of the hotel, you have to find the specific elevator to access that floor. The hotel elevators did not have access to the restaurant and there were no sign to let customers know about that. All of the guests at my table needed to get on multiple elevator rides to get to the restaurant. The suckling pig was very tasty! The best I have had. The turtle soup was good but I didn't find it as impressive as other dishes. The sea cucumber were also amazing and tender. The only complaint I would have is that normally Chinese restaurants provide dessert at the end, with the expensive menu, this place didn't offer any. It left a void in the experience.

Yelp
Came because of the Michelin status but I suppose that's reflected more on the service and price side only. Maybe the decoration is also more updated than the traditional dim sum places and it's overall a more quiet eating experience. Booked for Father's Day and had to put down a HKD $1000 as deposit and we were asked to dine in 1.5 hour time window. Service was better than the normal restaurants. Multiple waiters and waitresses came to greet us, pour tea, change plates, etc. However they missed our order of the spare ribs and delayed the whole dining experience because they served all savory dim sum first and then the sweet ones. As for food, I tried ordering the not so common ones like: 1. 咖哩蒸土魷: curry squid which is soft and flavorful and not overly powering on the curry. 2. 蛋黃滑雞卷:yolk with chicken roll. This is a disappointment as it's just 2 pieces of steamed chicken buns. 3. 豬肚燒賣: pork stomach covered siu mai. Overall tasted ok but it's more like meat ball underneath instead of real siu mai. 4. 百花釀魚肚: shrimp on top of fish maw steamed with an egg white sauce. This is tasty and the maw soaked in the flavors. 5. 腸粉: Cheung fun: I just had to order it every time I have dim sum. The wrapping is thin and the inside is stuffed with fillings, much better than the American types of thick skin kind. We tried the bbq pork and veggie, I like the veggie one better, it's smoother overall in texture. 6. 鍋貼明蝦:shrimp toast. The Chinese name confused me as I thought it's some new things. For hkd240, I think this is way overpriced with a small shrimp on a small piece of toast bread. 7. 蛋白杏仁茶: almond tea with egg white. So the menu doesn't have egg white but when placing order they asked if we wanted to add egg white. I like it and with egg white it is smoother with enough almond flavor. 8. 豉汁蒸排骨: steam spare ribs in fermented bean sauce. The spare ribs are in big chunks and not soaked in oil, which is good. The meat is also soft and tender. But I feel like without anything at the bottom such as taro or squash something is amiss. The restroom has mouth rinse, which is rare to find in any common dim sum places. So I think they earned the Michelin star among their peers from better service attentions and an updated decoration.

Yelp
Finally had the opportunity to eat at Seventh son restaurant. The restaurant is small and only has a few tables making it a pretty difficult place to get a reservation. The food quality here is top notch and the service is also quite good. Recommend this place for special occasions. My four star rating is based on: Food: 4.5 stars Ambience/atmosphere: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Value: 3.5 stars Recommendations: Roast suckling pig, eggplant clay pot, almond cookies The suckling pig is widely considered the best in Hong Kong. You have to order a whole pig or split a pig with another table. The skin is crispy and is eaten similar to Peking duck (hoisin sauce and sweet bread). The meat is really tender and I particularly enjoyed having the leg meat. The appetizers we ordered were the thousand year old egg and fried frogs legs. The frogs legs were good but nothing special. I preferred the thousand year egg, which is one of the better versions I ever had. The other surprising stand out dish for me was the eggplant clay pot. The eggplant really melted in my mouth and wasn't too starchy. The sauce also was perfect as it wasn't overly sweet and thick like it is typically in other restaurants. The food here is top notch Cantonese. This comes with a really high price tag, which I think is a bit over priced. I would recommend coming here at least once.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was completely packed - not one single table was empty. It was fortunate that we had reservations. Outstanding food and even better service in a beautiful environment. All the dim sum items were delicious, and the crab dumpling was made to perfection. The highlight of course, was the roast sucking pig which was crispy on the outside and extremely juicy with extremely succulent meat roasted to perfection. Dessert was a bit disappointing, which is the reason for the four stars. All in all a worthwhile experience.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch. The waitress and head floor manager told me 2x that there was a corkage. I said YES...or HIYAHHH each time. The char-sui was probably one of the best I've had so far. Just the right amout of tender and phatty-ness, not to sweet and not too salty combo. The pork fat wasn't as crunchy as I've had. Most of the other small dishes were solid. Unfortunately, I couldn't really enjoy the rest of lunch...my 3 year old daughter's jet-lag was kicking in, so most of my time was spent with her while my wife got to enjoy brunch.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant and the food is good, although a bit expensive. The roast pigling has to be preordered and are sold only as a whole pig. We had ordered the dish for the wrong date, but the kitchen managed to fill the order in 30 mins. Full marks for service. The stir fried pea shoots was excellent! Very tender and absolutely not fibrous as it sometimes can be when old shoots are used.

Yelp
Meat is very good here, no matter goose, chicken, beef or pork, as well as fish. Strong recommend

Yelp
A lot of their menu is shark fin soup, which I am not a fan of, but the food that we did order was good. The portions of the main dishes are family style so be prepared for a lot. The chicken was a good substitute for the duck since the duck has to be ordered in advance. The service was very attentive though and they spoke fairly good english.

Yelp
Regular customer here, foods are always up to standard! Service always good and friendly! Price is reasonable! Their BBQ pig is the best in town! No matter lunch or dinner, this is a great place for family gathering!
