"Cocktails with Monks Tucked into Santa Fe's medieval-looking St. Francis hotel, Secreto is a place to sample award-winning cocktails in style. Cozy couches and a dim, candle-lit hotel foyer may even entice you (and your drink) out of the bar itself. Sink into a chair and survey your new castle. If the ambience doesn't pull you into this place, the cocktails should. Well designed and crafted, these are drinks you'll be talking about long after you leave."

Wow, hands down my favorite bar experience in Santa Fe. Tucked away into the St. Francis hotel, Secreto Bar is an absolute treat. Jancarlo and Adam run a superb bar experience with one of a kind cocktails and top notch service. They even infuse their own syrups and liqueurs! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, I’ll be back! Thank you ✨

Cool lounge with really inventive drinks! Bartender was friendly to chat with as well! I had the smoked sage margarita because I was on the margarita trail! Very unique and smoky!

Delicious cocktails in a gorgeous, historic hotel. This place is a special treat! The cocktails are delicious and thoughtfully prepared - stunning to look at and equally as tasty!

My sister and I stopped in at Secreto Bar during our girls getaway, and we had an amazing experience! We don’t drink often and definitely don’t have a sophisticated palette for cocktails, but Adam and the other bartender (didn’t catch his name, unfortunately) were incredibly helpful. They took the time to chat with us, sharing their passion for mixology and their craft. We really appreciated how they made us feel comfortable and helped us explore new flavors. Even though we only drink on occasion, we left with a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind every drink. Great vibes, excellent service, and amazing conversation! Highly recommend!

Google
Small bar located inside the Hotel St. Francis. It’s upscale but laid back and lit mostly by candle or Edison lighting in the evening. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. There’s a small outdoor patio to sit and people watch. I had the smoked sage margarita which I really enjoyed. The cocktails aren’t cheap but are in line with most drink prices in Santa Fe.

Fun bar with great cocktails and beer selection. Quiet enough for conversation. Bartender was excellent. We had a blast!

Google
Highly recommend! Sat at the bar and everyone was so nice. The bartenders showed us all the house made bitters and syrups and recommended an off-menu cocktail which was very fun. I got the “I Stay Up Late” and loved it.

Google
Staff is very nice and makes conversation, the drinks are good however the margarita was smoked a little too long and had a overwhelming smoke/burn flavor

Yelp
The customer service is fabulous Juan Carlo made the best espresso martini I've ever had. The atmosphere is super calm. I love this place from now on. Super recommended 10/10

Yelp
Secreto Lounge is truly a Santa Fe institution, and if you're in town, you've got to stop by for a drink. Located in the historic Hotel St. Francis, it's the perfect blend of charm and ambiance, with a cozy indoor bar and a lovely patio for those warmer nights. I love bringing guests here, especially for the people-watching--Secreto has the best mix of tourists and locals, making for a lively and laid-back vibe. It's right next to the Gruet Tasting Room, which is great for some bubbly if they're open (though fair warning, they close too early). Thankfully, Secreto stays open late, giving us all the time we need to enjoy a relaxed evening. There's no pretense here; the bartenders know exactly what they're doing and have a friendly, approachable style that makes you feel right at home. Secreto Lounge is the perfect place to unwind with a well-crafted cocktail in a beautiful, historic setting--whether you're visiting or want to soak in the local scene, it's a Santa Fe stop that shouldn't be missed.

Yelp
Tasteful and comfortable all-friendly lounge. Very nice craft cocktails with unique flavors. The decor and furnishings are very Santa Fe. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Carroll V.

Yelp
Best downtown bar. We were in Santa Fe for days and managed to come here on 3 different nights. The bartenders can mix anything--but I recommend the Vieux Carre, Brooklyn, and the Smoked sage margarita. Not in that order, mind you, but these 3 will knock you back. Great table service even when slammed. Historic vibe to the interior, a perfect setting for classic cocktails

L R.

Yelp
Awesome service, great ambiance and wonderful drinks!! Some of the best cocktails ever and such a fun and creative menu

Megan J.

Yelp
It's a bit bones, I wouldn't say it's long on charm and ambience. No food, decent Margarita.

Scott M.

Yelp
We stopped for cocktails twice this trip, and both times we were very impressed with our drinks. Well made, well balanced, great service... we'll be back!

Marcella M.

Yelp
Secreto Lounge is a must visit with classic drinks in a beautiful lounge that resembles the bars from the 20's. Relax and enjoy this romantic, beautiful bar in the heart of Santa Fe.

Kara L.

Yelp
A friend told me about this place, so I decided to stop in. Wow. The decor, mood, and overall ambiance is relaxing and sophisticated. The ingredients for the cocktails are made in house and it shows. The waiters and bartenders greet you immediately and allow you to settle into the menu. I had a black manhattan on one night and a mezcal old-fashioned on another. The smell and flavor profile were complex and unexpected. One time, I just said surprise me. It was an unbelievable drink. Honestly, I can't see cocktails the same after this experience. They are elevated on every level and the professionalism and expertise of these individuals is not to be missed.

Anita R.

Yelp
Wow superb service and superb cocktail! It is such a treat to sit at the bar and watch the bartenders excel at their craft! Super cozy bar or you can order and take your drink outside. This exquisite bar is in the hotel Francis. It is totally worth a stop if you are in the area. If you are lucky enough to have Andy mix your cocktail you won't be disappointed!

Jim N.

Yelp
Interesting bar in the Hotel St. Francis. Looking at the specialty cocktail menu, nothing really looked good, lots of wine mixed with hard liquor cocktails. We stuck with basic margaritas and loved them. Talk to the bartenders, get their recommendations!

Kelly O.

Yelp
One of the best margaritas in Santa Fe. That's all. Order the house coin. Enjoy it in the lobby by the fire if it's going. Perfection.

Samira D.

Yelp
We were having such a nice time until our waiter completely forgot about us, we did not see him for the rest of the time. We had to close tab in the bar and left without ordering our entry plate. So upsetting!

Allye P.

Yelp
Juancarlo is one of the best bartenders we've ever had! He's attentive and you can tell he takes great pride in perfecting his craft. We came back just to have drinks made by him again before we left Santa Fe. The seasonal cocktails they currently have were adventurous and creative, don't be afraid to branch out here -- you will NOT be disappointed. We'll be coming back next time we visit!

Todd P.

Yelp
Cramped and very loud. They constantly serve "Smokey" drinks. So it smells horrible with people coughing.

Daniel Z.

Yelp
Only stopped for drinks and were served ours at a table in the lobby because the place was packed. The smoked margarita was unreal and well worth the $$. Great and friendly service.

Xi C.

Yelp
awesome smoky margarita. you can also order food that's from the kitchen of Market Steer Steakhouse

Hannah M.

Yelp
This bar is Located on the first floor of the St. Francis Hotel. It is a very small lounge that gets packed during happy hour. Their happy hour goes until 6 o'clock and features two dollars off drinks and select appetizers are on special as well. When we visited it was during happy Hour and the actual lounge it's self was packed that we had to sit in overflow seating in the main lobby area there were three servers and we didn't feel like we had to wait a long time for our drinks at all they were definitely on top of it. I got the smoked Margarita that they are famous for and everyone raves about, but I didn't see anything really special about this or mind blowing. It was just average and I would probably would rather have had a gin and tonic like my mom got. It comes with a lot of salt on the rim so be prepared or perhaps ask for light salt? Their menu featured a ton of great different drinks that I'd definitely try again.

Tim S.

Yelp
Wow what a surprise! This place is a find. And that sounds silly as it's near the plaza and in a hotel. But today at least, it is the spot to walk in off he street on a hot day. Great music, great vibe, and a creative drink menu that matches the passion of the bartender. I walked in not expecting much(see above inside hotel in the touristy part of town), but the bartender, she made me thirsty for many of the libations. I tried the smoked sage margarita to start. The concoction came together in a wonderful way. The tart of lime with the aromas of sage worked great. Second was the Arbusto. It looks basic, but the combination of the celery bitters and the vinegar tones creates a pickle back flavor that I have never had in a tequila drink before. Original and quite good. A must try when in Santa Fe. At least once, if not more.

Gordon G.

Yelp
The food was great, our server was overwhelmed with diners but still nice. He truly needed help and no one jumped in to help him. He missed out on talking with diners. The owners need to stick there heads out of the kitchen every once and a while. Unfortunately the inside dining room was painfully dark and not at all pleasant, no theme or atmosphere! Zero charm...Don't sit inside AT ALL!!

Winlee W.

Yelp
Low rating in my drinking book. Why call this place a secret when passers by can see you through the window? Located in the Hotel Francis, anyone can see it upon immediately entering the front doors. This place decently decorated but in an odd space similar to a cantina. Connoisseurs of secret bars and speakeasies, I was surprised to find this place very open and not truly lending itself to be clandestine. To top it off, 1 of the 7 cocktails on the menu were 86ed, as well as two of the same menu showing different ingredients for said cocktails. I was not impressed at all. I would never recommend this place to a fellow speakeasy explore or one whom appreciates a good cocktail. Go next door to Tonic.

Veronique C.

Yelp
The bar, located in the historic St. Francis hotel, is famous for its craft cocktails made with seasonal local herbs and house-made syrups. The drinks are definitely innovative, just looking at the menu I was intrigued! I had the smoked sage margarita and it's worth getting it not only for the unique taste, but also so see the bartender smoking the sage to prepare your drink. The atmosphere is relaxing, with an old New Mexican vibe; there is also a nice patio in front of the hotel when the weather is warmer. A great place for drinks!

Ryan W.

Yelp
Possibly the absolute worst service I've ever encountered. Staff was rude and unresponsive when we sat at the bar. Asked for a cocktail menu - was ignored. After not being served and asking who we order from - was ignored. All in all, we sat there for well over an hour and received one round of drinks, the first drink in the order coming out about 10 minutes after ordering, the second one came out 30 minutes after... I think I've only reviewed 3 places over the years but this experience was so bad I had to take to the web. Caution to all who go there, especially on a weekend.

Carolina F.

Yelp
Nice little place for a cocktail before dinner, we were able to sit outside the bar inside the hotel and it was great.

Rachel T.

Yelp
Lovely cocktails. Pricey - but anything good is pricy these days. Mixologist is gifted. Ask for the blood Orange tequila sour, not on the menu!!

Loren C.

Yelp
The drinks are creative, and the bartenders are nice and love to have fun. Great playlist of music, chill fun vibe. Also, you can order food off the Market Steer menu from next door.

Jack B.

Yelp
As someone who lives in Santa Fe, I cannot recommend this place on the weekends. It may be better during the week but I am unsure. Slowest service I have ever had. The food is good but.... 50% through I asked where my drink was...90% through my food I was told my tab was lost. Ordered a second drink and was made aware of the multi-drink policy. I said I didn't need it now but if it was going to take 30 minutes again then she needed to order it. Finally decided I did not want to deal with it. Sadly, my wife ordered a refill and 29 minutes later I am still waiting it. Update: it finally arrived as I am about to submit this review. The bartender was texting instead of mixing drinks. Now we are waiting to tab out and I am wondering if we need to get a room to wait for that process. Stay away unless you have hours to wait. $120+ tab for all our aggravation.... WTF!!!!! Extremely understaffed!!!!

Mike S.

Yelp
We were ignored for more than 10 minutes. I tried to attract the attention of the hostess who sat us. She simply said "wait a minute," never to return. Yes, the bar was busy, but we were in no hurry. A simple courteous greeting would have sufficed. We didn't get one so we left. No one seemed to notice our departure.

Samantha M.

Yelp
This place is inside the hotel and served amazing food. The ambience is the same as the hotel with a clean, pure, ethereal sort of vibe and they serve all the classic New Mexican items. Would highly recommend.

Alysia B.

Yelp
Bartenders were bunk. No personality. No eye contact. Treated patrons as though they didn't even exist. Best thing about this place is the valet. Will no longer suggest this place. If you want a fun place to have a few drinks, in a lively and kind environment, where the bartenders are engaging go to La Posada or La Fonda!

Morgan T.

Yelp
absolutley amazing. got lamb and truffle fries, extremely delicious and perfectly savory. The waitress and waiters were extremely friendly and pretty fast. The nice almost sandy like colours and the gorgeous architecture was extremely comforting and visually pleasing. i truly do reccomend this place, a bit pricey, but so worth it.

IC E.

Yelp
Used to love this place when we visited SFe.....great drinks, friendly service. That has all changed. We dropped in last night and had horrible, unpleasant service and a drink that we couldn't finish. There are so many wonderful places in this city. We'll spend our money elsewhere!

Matt E.

Yelp
Smokey sage margarita might be a hit for others but I found it to be undrinkable. My gf had the Bomba that tasted like children's pink bubble gum. It started pouring rain so we moved from outside to inside - all the tables were taken - so we posted up at the pillar in order to close out our tab. Immediately the bar tender yelled at us that the pillar seating was closed "for social distancing" which like would possibly make sense if not for the fact that literally everyone else was on top of each other and no mask policy was in effect? Like what? That type of cognitive dissonance is just hard to understand. I think people can find better in town. We certainly did.

Yelp
We are so deeply saddened by what has become of our favorite bar in town. My husband and I had made secreto lounge our date night place for the last three years. We were so excited that they were open again and when we arrived at our beloved mainstay, our hopes were crushed. It is unclear how one is supposed to wait to be seated. You are greeted by a very unclear sign and forced to stand at it (very close to people eating and drinking) while you assume you are waiting for a host of some sort. I waited here for over ten minutes. My husband finally went to the bar to ask what we should do. The bartender immediately began yelling for us to go to the lobby and try to find a place to sit ... where we had just come from... my husband inquired further about where exactly we should go as we were instructed by the sign (we had been waiting at) to wait to be seated. Now we are being told to seat ourselves? It was very confusing ... The bartender continued handling our confusion by yelling "the lobby" over and over again at us. Then he began mocking us. Then the other people behind the bar began laughing and mocking us as well. It was the most appalling behavior I have ever witnessed in a restaurant by the staff. I can not say if we will ever return but I very much miss the staff that was there before the pandemic. They knew our drinks when we walked in ... they were wonderful. We are so deeply saddened by this extreme and detrimental change to this bar.

Yelp
I was told at the airport by a friendly stranger on my flight to find a bar in a hotel downtown that had smoked sage margaritas. By complete happenstance, I ended up at said bar on Monday and recognized the margarita on the menu and had to order it. The margarita tasted like a normal margarita that had a nice smoky, earthy sage flavor to it that was really enjoyable. Best part though was the smoky salt rim! I normally don't get my margaritas salted and get them sugared because I don't like the salt, but the smoked salt was delicious! Pleasant surprise! The bar itself is in the St. Francis Hotel and is a smaller loungy bar. The drinks are on the priced on the higher side so I recommend coming around happy hour if you want to try them out. I decided to stay here to do some pleasure reading while I sipped on my drink and enjoy the view from the window. The bartender (He himself gets 5 stars) was nice and he seemed pretty attentive even though he had many tables occupied while I was there. I think he may have noticed that I may have needed a little bit of water because he brought me a bottle without me even asking (I was having a rough day). Many thanks!

Lloyd B.

Yelp
Sat there for ten minutes at the bar with zero acknowledgement. Someone walked up after us and got attention right away.

Joyce R.

Yelp
I must predict that attitude is everything. We're staying here and can't even get in. They could care less. They're busy. I enjoyed the smoked sage margarita. . . W A Y. . . @ the end of the lobby, where they really don't want to walk to serve you. They WONT scope you a table. It's "hawking" only. I should think guests deserve something. Hubby appreciated they had a non alcoholic beer. A good one. Chef ended up serving us, but I *was* taking pix. Non hungry hubby ordered the filet! $17 bargain. He ordered it medium, but we heard it moooing. I had dips: tomato jam, pimento chz, awesome marinated vege & a hummus. The sauces w/ the stk were good. Well catsup & a chili stk sauce & chimichurri. I did not care for the chimi as it was doused w/ mayo or something, not original South American sauce which I love. We concluded the steak sauce tasted like A-1 stirred into catsup. It was GOOD! I wish the crostini had been warm, somewhat softer. It was so hard. Incredible drink/wine list. Staying here so may try again.

Yelp
I just moved back to Santa Fe and desired a decent drink. I have a ritual -- when trying out a new cocktail bar (not a dive, but somewhere that claims to have a good bar) I order a sazarac. It's a simple drink that many bartenders don't do well, and a sure fire sign, if you get a good one, that they know their business. So I took a seat in the lobby and asked for a sazarac. It didn't seem particularly busy and the staff was plentiful, so after fifteen minutes, when asked if I'd be ordering food ( the menu looked delicious) I inquired after my drink and was admonished that patience would go a long way. 27 minutes after ordering, I received my drink. My sazarac came with large ice cubes and, I kid you not, a cherry. It was sweeter than a popsicle. I can still taste the sugar. I'm gonna go down the street and order a pint of beer to wash the sucrose from my mouth. It will take a long time for me to try this bar again. What a shame. The decor is lovely, and my hopes were high. Update: went to the Dragon Room, had an excellent margarita and a perfectly cooked steak.

Cher C.

Yelp
What a find! This place has an inventive cocktail menu that does NOT disappoint! It was hard selecting a drink, because they were all so intriguing, but I eventually settled on the Infamous Monk and had two. The spice, the bitterness, the booze, and the sweetness were all well balanced. Not to mention the vibrant orange color that dotted the patio...Clearly a popular choice! It was such a treat to sip on these and watch life return to the plaza as cottonwood seeds wafted all around.

A R.

Yelp
I love going to Secreto lounge! The staff is warm and welcoming. The space is very pleasant and cozy. The drinks are great. Could be five stars all around!!! The portal is wonderful to have drinks and people watch, but it's also why I reduced my stars down to three. The hotel should note that the portal needs a thorough hosing down, the windows, sills and Spanish lanterns cleaned, and the furniture has seen better times. While you're at it, hire a good interior designer to select new furniture that can be moved to suit different group sizes. Sitting in a line on either side of the portal is not comfortable or convivial. When you make these improvements, I'll be glad to make this a five star review! OMG! This place is in trouble. Do you really have to beg for a drink to be served in the portal???? Love the setting, but the outside wait person couldn't have cared less about the customer waiting. Could break a nail serving a cocktail!!!!

Andrea P.

Yelp
Really great drinks. The wait staff is also very friendly. My only complaint is that the bar food is the same as the steakhouse menu. There aren't very many snacks or things that you'd want to really just accompany a drink.

Farrah W.

Yelp
Finally! Great food and cocktails and service were stellar. The crowd was fun and the atmosphere upscale but chill with great patrons and did I mention the service? If I ever wanted to come back to Santa Fe this would be our go to place.

Foodie G.

Yelp
If you're looking for the best fried chicken sandwich in the world, it's here, oh and the fries too!!! The fries were crispy, salty and just perfect! But back to the sandwich. The chicken breast was AMAZING, it was crispy, juicy and flavorful. It had fresh crunchy juicy pickles and a delightful slaw in it with the most flavorful sauce on its buttery toasted bun. Get that ok, seriously, get that! OR Steak frites! I couldn't believe the quality of steak you got with this dish! The steak was seasoned perfectly and of course, those delicious fries accompanied it. Comes with 2 sauces. One being a steak sauce (which you don't need) and the other a garlic pesto type?? Which by the way was amazing whatever it was. They have really good drinks here as well! Definitely visit this spot but just know, they're closed on Mondays.

Michael B.

Yelp
Used to be a favorite cocktail stop. Menu is now lacking the local spirits signature drinks and there is no food.

Rose G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, service took a while but they were quite busy, and the drinks were not very good. We got their most popular whisky/bourbon drink and the Aom's something, and neither were good.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We had been to Secreto several times before COVID hit, and are back in town again and were wondering how they'd fared. Checked the recent reviews and almost didn't go, but so glad we did! Our service was prompt and attentive, and our drinks also came out within the time I'd expect a craft cocktail to be made. I loved the smoked margarita, and my husband had the one made with mezcal and he loved his too. I saw one review that called the interior "garish" and the lobby of the St Francis "tacky" and that couldn't be further from the truth. Elegant, intimate interior (slightly smoky from the cocktails that have smoked components), and the St Francis is a lovely historic hotel. Don't hesitate to try this place!

Mary A.

Yelp
Great food and service, even when extremely busy! There is a short food menu, and a nice wine and beer menu. They serve craft cocktails, offering seasonal specials that look intriguing!

Cheryl H.

Yelp
A bit on the expensive side but if you're in for some adventuresome cocktails, this is your place! The smoked sage margarita: the salt on the rim tastes so strong of smoke you might think you licked the BBQ grill! Had a punch for sure! The Smokey Rosa: so strong and one gives quite the buzz! Tastes of smoke and grapefruit. The Arbusto Secreto: served in a tall glass with a hint of poblano, does not disappoint as a sipping cocktail with all its ingredients coming through each taste. 3 drinks, $40 and a nice buzz to boot! On to the next bar! PS: service was GREAT!

S B.

Yelp
I found the manager to be extremely rude. He was rude to all my guests and when I mentioned this he was even ruder. I do not encourage anyone to patronize this bar. The service is terrible.
