Scout is a charming takeout gem in Silver Lake by Beau Laughlin, boasting quick, delicious breakfast and lunch options with a delightful California vibe.
"What It Is: An all-day cafe attached to Sawyer in Silver Lake Perfect For: Lunch, Dining Solo We checked out Scout, the new all-day spot attached to Sawyer in Sunset Junction, and found a bright space about the size of a deluxe janitorial closet. There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk, and if you want to sit inside Sawyer and eat, you can do that too. But Scout is very much a to-go operation. The menu is full of things people like to eat at lunch like grain bowls and kale salads, but their sandwiches and toasts are where you should put your focus. Also, their breakfast burrito is very good. Verdict: A solid lunch spot with affordable prices that’s ideal if you’re short on time." - Jess Basser Sanders, Brant Cox, Brett Keating
"Including a place that closes at 7pm on this guide might seem like a stretch, but this is LA - you leave work every day at 5:30pm, and your crystal doctor told you to eat dinner before 6:30pm for a fulfilled lifestyle. So Scout works. This tiny order-at-the-counter spot right at Sunset Junction has a menu full of salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches, and everything is very good. The most expensive dish is $14 and their efficient to-go situation will get you home with plenty of time before 6:45pm rainbow reiki." - Brant Cox

"Welcome to the new Scout, a sunny takeaway shop for easy eats and neighborhood staples in Silver Lake. The new shop is tucked tightly right between Sawyer and Kettle Black, and opens today. Scout is the work of serial restaurateur Beau Laughlin, though it comes with a sunny California aesthetic all its own. The shop is just 240 square feet in all, but comes wrapped in throwback wallpaper and gilded metal touches. There’s a grab and go display case right at the entrance, along with bottles of to-go wine, cookbooks, dishware, and just about everything else. A tight menu offers Heart Roasters coffee as both espresso and drip, with pastries up front to take away. Other morning morning staples include a breakfast burrito, grain bowls, smoothies, a fried chicken sandwich and salads for lunch, and those always-ubiquitous toasts. The opening menu for Scout is below. The restaurant officially opens today on Sunset Boulevard, keeping hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily." - Farley Elliott
