Google
What a great ice cream shop. They have the most creative flavours that taste great. The service was fantastic from the man working there and you can even have free samples to ensure you like your flavour before committing to a flavour. We had the miso caramel toffee ice cream which was smooth and of great quality. Prices are very reasonable too! Amazing ice cream shop!

Google
The most creamiest ice cream in Los Angeles. They have the most sophisticated flavors I have ever tried. As for service, the staff were the nicest people ever. They made sure that the flavor I picked was the one I would like the most. They offered many samples to ensure this. They are located in a small shop in the Far East Plaza in chinatown. Though the room is small, they have perfectly decorated the place to create a great atmosphere for ice cream. Over all, I highly recommend this ice cream parlor. Please drop by and taste the great flavors they have to offer.

Google
Love the different types of flavors and the variety they have, especially including flavors for ice cream enjoying lactose people like myself.Their scoop portions are pretty good but the new cones sometimes stick to the paper.

Google
My favorite ice cream place ever!!! They have so many different flavor. Their ice cream is little softer and lighter than any other regular ice cream place so u can eat more hahaha. My favorites are alcohols in it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you can't taste alcohol so much I think it makes more softer and melting in my mouse.

Lorenzo

Google
had a nice scoop of sesame ice cream back in March 2024, guy was super nice. It was an interesting flavor, nice to have unique options on rotation, especially next to Howlin Rays

Esther Lee

Google
Really generous scoop size for kid scoop at $2.50. They only have one signature flavor, and change out ALL the rest of the flavors every day. What a feat, it's awesome! The ice cream is very fluffy and light - not too sweet, which is a nice change. I got pistachio jasmine, it was very tasty. The guy behind the counter was happy to let me sample whatever I wanted before I chose (I sampled five, I couldn't decide!!!)

Leo Le

Google
Amazing selection of flavors to choose from. One of the best ice cream shops I’ve been to.

Manoela Caldas

Google
Amazing unique flavors, I was super impressed!

Adrian S.

Yelp
Really good ice cream! The store was air conditioned and calm. Service was great and quick

Sandra S.

Yelp
Very friendly service. You can try as many flavors as you want. The ice cream was good, but the flavors felt a bit too subtle. While the choices, like Jasmine Pomegranate and Lavender Tea, were intriguing, they didn't have the depth I was hoping for. By the time I dug into both creamy ones, the flavor distinction between them was almost indistinguishable. I just wished the flavors had more intensity. The Yuzu sorbet ended up as my favorite. Small store with two small seating space inside.

Yelp
Scoops is this really awesome ice cream shop across from howlin rays. The outside looks really cool.So once you eat some awesome hot chicken you can follow it up with so delicious ice cream. The people inside were really nice and kind and let you try samples to know what you like. I don't know if there flavors change weekly but I tried Oreo Cookie Dough. And it was delicious. The cookie dough blended so perfectly with Oreo to create a whole new flavor. It was so good and I would definitely eat it again.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Came in looking for a little treat for the little one, left with a sorbet for her and saw such interesting flavors that I couldn't help but try some myself. I got the nigori sake cream and burnt sugar with another scoop of black sesame. The burnt sugar was a nice texture and the bits of black sesame was a nice crunch. I think the owner was the one who helped us and he was so nice! It was rather quiet.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Overpriced ice cream. It's good but not special nor memorable which makes it not worth it for me given the price. For this price range I'd much prefer salt and straw or something in that realm.

Brandon N.

Yelp
What we ordered: - Marscapone & burnt sugar - Maple, miso, and praline pecan The marscapone & burnt sugar ice cream (right) tasted very creamy/light due to the marscapone. You can definitely taste "burnt sugar" flavor with each bite. Use of high quality ingredients is quite noticeable compared to other ice cream spots! The maple, miso, and praline pecan ice cream (left) seemed like an interesting flavor and we had to try it! The pecan bites added the perfect amount of saltiness and texture, while the sweetness of the maple was just right and not overbearing.

Karen O.

Yelp
Really good flavors, price and great service. It was a quiet spot which is nice given the chaos of all the people in that plaza. Highly recommend trying the blueberry lemon lavender or the coconut flavors, they were so refreshing.

Renee D.

Yelp
Dog days of summer require cool refreshments. Was at the Broad, headed back to Eagle Rock and wanted a treat that would require more money for parking than the actual treat! Pulled up the handy dandy Yelp Ap and Voila! A large selection of options popped up on the map! Scored street parking with money left in the meter and walked half a black to the Far East Plaza between Hill and Broadway. Access available on both streets. Found out all ice creams are made at the Highland Park location and flavors change weekly. I tasted a few samples before deciding on the Hong Kong coffee, Thai tea and blueberry lavender. They were all good. My friend got pistachio honey also good. The other ones we tried were a bit too sweet. Service was great and to get 3 flavors in a "single scoop" is a good deal.

Johan S.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick dessert for the girls. The shop is small and quaint. As part of the shopping center, there's not much space to sit inside, which isn't really a problem as it's easy enough to find a spot outside or to walk and eat. We were served quickly and with a smile. Oh, and no complaints about the ice cream either! It was a nice little pick-me-up. If you're in the area and have a hankering, or if your tongue is on fire after Howlin' Rays, then this is definitely a good place to stop.

Haleh M.

Yelp
The cutest little ice cream shop with unique flavors to choose from. I got the cookie butter oreo (made with oat milk) and the pomegranate lavender. Both completely different but equally as amazing. I got there right as they were opening at noon. There was no wait and service was fast. Located right across Howlin Rays this small shop is the perfect grab and go vibe. There's no seating inside or outside. If you're in Chinatown this is a total must try!

T L.

Yelp
Bring a friend to stay in the car while one of you runs inside (no parking). Got the vegan coffee scoop on a sugar cone. Was it a thick cream? No, but the flavor was complex and satisfying! Reminded me of old childhood bluebell brand coffee flavor. The sugar cone was on point too.

Isabella D.

Yelp
Good and cute small ice cream place tucked within an area filled with lots of food places. The biggest thing that I loved was their "baby" size, which is perfect for when you're craving ice cream but don't want to commit to a whole cup. The flavors were unique and I loved how we were able to get samples of them!

Nathalie B.

Yelp
Scoops in Chinatown is a gem! We tried the pandan and ube mazapan ice creams, and both were amazing. The pandan had a unique, fragrant flavor, and the ube mazapan was rich and creamy with a delightful nutty taste. The service was friendly and the ambiance cozy. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try delicious and unique ice cream flavors!

Gabryella W.

Yelp
Nice, friendly staff! Wish we got his name. My partner and I tried the pistachio with fig jam & olive oil w/ rosemary & sea salt ice cream. Don't knock the latter til you try it. We were so pleasantly surprised with the samples we opted for a large even though we only meant for a small after a super filling lunch at noodle shop next door. This place was very unassuming, but a wonderful surprise. They mix up their flavors, I forget how often, but we were so glad we came in today because the pistachio was just that good. Definitely worth trying!! We want to come back here soon to see what surprise unique flavors they'll have.

Allie L.

Yelp
Friendly service, cute decor, reasonably priced and yummy unique flavors. The server said their Bianca bread flavor is a regular but other flavors are rotated. Sampled a few flavors today. Each were unique and equally yummy but I ultimately chose the pistachio cardamom honey flavor. Boyfriend got the chocolate horchata, which said the chocolate overpowered the horchata flavor. Server was nice to top my scoop in a cup with a cone because I couldn't decide whether I wanted in a cone or cup.

Alan N.

Yelp
This ice cream is bussin'. Enough said. Pistachio and rose water is what dreams of made of. Be careful where you sit in the plaza. Some tables are reserved for specific store fronts Smell the howling rays

Angel L.

Yelp
Came by on a Saturday afternoon for a few scoops of ice cream and we were not disappointed! Parking: we did metered street parking. Service: there was only one person working when we went and the person was very efficient. It was my first time and of course I had questions but he answered them nicely and was able to help me make my decision quickly! Flavors: +_Mango, Yuzu, and Honey sorbet: my bf got this and it was sweet but not overly sweet. Definitely wouldn't be able to get more than one scoop of this flavor, personally. Especially compared to the bianco bread and pandan coffee, this flavor tasted like candy! I think this flavor would appeal to kids or someone with a fruity sweet tooth! +_Bianco Bread: this brown bread flavored ice cream had a touch of mascarpone and bits of the raisin crunch cereal to give it texture. No raisins though! It tasted like cereal milk ice cream to me. Yummmm. +_Pandan Coffee: ooo this was my favorite! Good/strong coffee flavor with a touch of pandan flavor. It kind of threw me off that it didn't look any bit green but the flavor was there! I'd come back again if I was in the area and would recommend this place as well. I like that they rotate flavors so it keeps everyone on their toes. Btw, I really wanted to sample the lemon lavender and balsamic ice cream so I asked if I could get a sample of it after I was rung up, that way I could step out to pull down my mask to try. The person working described it pretty well, 60/40 lemon to lavender flavor with a swirl of balsamic to give it a different kind of acidic kick. I thought it was different and I liked it but I think I preferred my pandan coffee and bianco bread pairing more lol.

Wan K.

Yelp
Really friendly and welcoming place. They are generous with giving free samples. I got the salted Oreo. I would recommend adding traditional flavors such as vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. It's across from Howlin Ray's. I needed ice cream to cool the heat from Howling Ray. The employee was down to earth and super chill. Good vibes. Got the baby scoops which is around $3.

Teresa N.

Yelp
Fun flavors, delicious, and kind service! Go support this lovely shop + all the small businesses in the plaza :)

Hugo W.

Yelp
Their ice cream is just amazing. The owner and his staff are the nicest people ever and this place has been a symbol of childhood memories in Chinatown. The store is welcoming and the price is worth the quality.

Morvarid A.

Yelp
Very delicious ice-cream, very interesting flavors, however small portion, overall it's worth it!

Christina C.

Yelp
Delicious flavors!!! I love that they have $3.50 kids scoops in the case you're not that hungry for a full size cup. The pandan chocolate chip ice cream is so yum. And the sorbets are great too. Btw, they do milk shakes here and I may have to try one next time I come back! Really friendly staff!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Me and my siblings arrived to try out ice cream while waiting for our order from howlin rays. One we get to the car I began to feel very bad stomach pain, then after that my siblings did too! We had to go to the bathroom because we had gotten food poisoning from the ice cream because it was the last thing we ate before eating the hamburgers. And I saw the last inspection was august of 2022! Was the ice-cream expired nor anything clean ?

Natalie Z.

Yelp
It's awesome that the Far East Plaza continues to function as a food mall with vendors like Scoops to breathe new life into it. I came on a hot afternoon and decided on the brown bread ice cream after trying it and peanut butter and yuzu (also awesome). The ice cream was creamy vanilla with nutty, toasty flecks of sugared brown bread. I've never had anything like it. Also...I love how you could get the ice cream in a cake cone. I enjoy waffle cones, but they're too sweet and filling. Cake cone supremacy. I love Asian-inspired ice cream flavors and am excited to try more of the rotating menu.

Shayla H.

Yelp
Came by Chinatown to get Howling Rays and decided to get dessert. It's a small store and I loved how colourful the interior is! They change their flavours regularly. For my two scoops, I got thai tea and oreo. The taste was amazing and refreshing!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Great unique ice cream flavors and great texture. Service was good too! Wanted to try all the flavors. Will be back again whenever I'm in the LA area

Yolanda R.

Yelp
Scoops has the coolest flavors and nicest workers! Always want to try their new flavors!

Eileen Y.

Yelp
I don't cared how basic it is, brown bread is my favorite. You get to choose multiple flavors, so I always get one scoop of brown bread + whatever cool new combos they have that day. The employees are really nice about letting you sample things and don't get impatient with you even when you're being super indecisive. Super cute spot with homey vibes. I love scoops so much and it's one of the first places every time I'm back in LA. Can't wait to eat it again soon!

Rose Lyn C.

Yelp
I used to get Scoops every week when I lived in DTLA, and I'm just so thankful that they're still open right now (Boo Covid). Now I just get it whenever I pickup takeout from Lasa. They change their flavors regularly, so normally I'll order the Biaco Bread and something else. It's been pretty easy to find street parking on Hill lately but there's also parking underneath. Really just head to that plaza, order all the food and ice cream and enjoy.

Jimbo J.

Yelp
Delicious flavors, me and my gf went in and LOVED the ice cream. We purchased two milkshakes (coconut taro, and Horchata oreo cookie) and they were great! Apparently the options change everyday, will definitely be back

Alina P.

Yelp
Great vegan options and they can make a vegan shake! I had the fig burnt sugar flavor ice-cream as a shake, and was so freaking gooood!! I'm not a huge fan of ice-cream normally and I drank that entire thing.

Keith H.

Yelp
I recently checked out this Scoops location, and like I expected, I got an excellent serving of ice cream! This Scoops is located in Chinatown's Far East Plaza near to a collection of various restaurants, so this can be a great post-lunch or post-dinner dessert option. During COVID-19 times, you order right at the entry (where you pay at a table set up at front), and the employee brings your order to you. I tried the Bianco Bread, which is similar to Brown Bread offered at other Scoops locations with an addition of mascarpone. I paired it with a rum raisin ice cream that included almond and nutmeg, and both ice cream flavors were fantastic. The employee taking my order was welcoming, and now I have another location where I can stuff my face with awesome ice cream when I'm in Chinatown!

Jenn G.

Yelp
Summer time scoops! It's always fun to be in downtown LA/Chinatown exploring the city and the various eats! Let's be honest though...there's a lot of walking though and it can get pretty hot. Thankfully however there are plenty of spots that will help you beat the heat. One such place is Scoops! Located at Far East Plaza is this small colorful spot offering various different unique flavors of ice cream. From Key Lime pie to peanut butter; they've got something delicious for every sweet tastebud. After trying out a couple samples, I chose to get their popular Bianco Bread. Bianco Bread which is Italian for White bread was the perfect name for this smooth, rich and tasty ice cream that was almost like Italian gelato. I got the kids scoop $2.95 and it was just the right size err shall I say scoop ;). I really enjoyed my scoop of ice cream and will be sure to check out Scoops again one hot day.

Kevin V.

Yelp
This place is a must if you want to try some unique and delicious flavors you can't find anywhere else. I had a scoop of the yuzu, pomegranate, and port swirl and it was so good I went back for a pint.

Frida I.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this location while in line for another location. I tried three of the flavors that day and walked out with scoops of the same flavors. The individual working the cashier was beyond friendly. The three flavors I order were: * Coconut lavender * hazelnut fig * chocolate buttercream HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Rachel S.

Yelp
Yummy Ice Cream place! We came here after having dinner at Oriel down the street. I had been to this complex before to eat, with Howlin Ray's and Chego to name a few. It was 8:00 and they had a sign saying they'd be back at 8:10. So we walked around and saw a bunch of people in Howlin Rays. When we came back, the worker was mopping the floor and let us in. We tried a few different flavors but the passionfruit and mango yogurt was really good. My friend got another yogurt flavor that I also tried and really liked, just can't remember the name. Pretty great Ice Cream and Yogurt spot! Seems like they change out their flavors often so I definitely wanna come back!

Kama H.

Yelp
Best ice cream of anywhere in town. Always unique and delicious flavors, including great non-dairy ones. It had been a few years since I have had Scoops since the location I went to more often over by LACC had closed. Just delicious, really fair prices for good quantity and quality, and really friendly service. Yay Scoops!!

Shirley T.

Yelp
PANDAN COCONUT TOFFEE ICE CREAM. YAS. GIMME MOAR. New quest: retrieve many pints with ice chest. Difficulty: low; conveniently close to Metro Gold Line.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Stopped by china town to explore for a bit and craved something sweet. I was really close by and decided to give it a try. Very interesting choices of flavors. I had a sample of their best seller which is the only one they make everyday. BLANCO BREAD. it was exactly was I was looking for. Sweet with a little crunch element. Highly recommend !

Steve S.

Yelp
Best ice cream in LA I seriously mean that it's so creamy so delicious doesn't taste like any other ice cream it taste so real simple shop good service been coming for years

Nancy A.

Yelp
I've loved scoops since the heliotrope location. I had to stop here for ice cream to help neutralize the hotness in my body after trying Howlin Ray's hottest spice level. I got the blanco bread and chocolate Guinness. For each scoop, you can get 2 flavors, which is a pretty good deal. Apparently, they have certain flavors only at specific locations. I really wanted brown bread, but this location had blanco bread. It was super yummy that I need to go back to the heliotrope location to get the brown bread flavor so I can compare and see which I like best (uh hehe). The chocolate Guinness was also delicious. Place is clean. Service very friendly. I definitely recommend coming here especially after having Howlin Ray's

Troy B.

Yelp
As an icecream queen, I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Overall, very decent icecream, not as thick or rich as I usually like, but generally pretty good. I think it's pretty comparable to Haagen Daz, maybe a tad less thick. I sampled legit like 10 flavors, and the worker was very accommodating, although the samples kept getting smaller as I asked for them HAHA. But still, props to him for putting up with me. I ended up getting the Bianco Bread flavor, since I wanted to try something unique. The Horchata Oreo flavor was amazing as well. It seems like they don't have a consistent list of flavors and they change here and there, so I'd be down to come back and try the new ones. Another note is that the prices here are great. To get just one scoop is like $2.50 or something, which is definitely on the cheaper end of icecream these days.

Harold V.

Yelp
The Yelp definition of 2-stars perfectly describes my experience at Scoops: "Meh. I've experienced better." We happened to eat dinner in the same complex as Scoops and remembered it from the Buzzfeed Worth It video. We excitedly went in to cure our FOMO. I had the Bianco Bread and the Red Velvet Oreos. It was...ok. I guess I value creaminess and richer flavor in my ice cream more than the creators of Scoops. I appreciate their creativity in unique flavors, but in all honesty, it was a pretty mediocre experience. Even the decor was fairly bland despite its attempts to be hipster. It doesn't help that it's in a dark part of the food mall. Anyway, at least the person behind the counter was super friendly and smiley. And although it wasn't up my alley, it satisfied my dessert needs after our spicy dinner.

Nicky N.

Yelp
Not sure if this is one of the orginal Scoop's because they said they don't carry brown bread. Bianco bread tasted just like brown bread but with mascapone cheese. Thai tea with coconut and basil seed was good too. Scoops are a little tiny for the price you are paying.

Sarah C.

Yelp
I almost missed this location with all the hustle and bustle of the howlin rays line but I'm glad I was able to find it! I decided to come to this location because the flavors on yelp looked really unique and interesting. When I got there, there were only a few unique ones but you might just have to get lucky with the seasonal flavors. There were around 10 flavors to choose from and I'm really glad I went with black sesame. It was super creamy and nutty! I'd definitely come back to extinguish my tongue after the fire of chicken wings next door. Parking: we went during Chinese New Year so it was pretty hard to find street parking. There's quite a few paid lots around but we just opted to walk a few blocks away and park in a quieter neighborhood.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Not sure if Scoops intended for their ice cream to be smushy and soft, but that's what I got here. They definitely have some interesting flavors here, which is why I'll be sticking to 3 stars instead of 2. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and nice also, so that made my experience not so bad. If the ice cream here were more solid and thick, instead of watery and slushy, then I'd love it a lot more. It just felt like everything there was melting :( Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 (24/100)

Josh B.

Yelp
Great ice cream! Ordered a scoop (which actually comes with 2 scoops) to treat myself. The Oreo Cheesecake was pretty good, similar to a cookies n cream but the cookie chunks were very soft. My favorite was the Earl Grey, such a good flavor! Glad I got to check this place out!

Blain W.

Yelp
The best ice cream in Chinatown. The whole group got something different and loved it.

Paul S.

Yelp
Absolutely the best and most delicious Ice-cream anywhere! The flavors are increasingly. Hands down the nest Ice-cream in the world.
