"Sarabeth’s started out as a bakery in Chelsea Market in the 80s, where owner Sarabeth Levine perfected cookies, scones, and cakes (with unabashed amounts of sugar, flour, and butter). After she became legendary, she opened Sarabeth’s and basically launched the craze that is weekend Brunch. Years later, it’s still hard to get a breakfast reservation at any of her roomy, all-American, restaurants, but it’s so worth it for luscious pancakes and french toast, not to mention ideal omelettes. There are additional locations in the Upper East Side, Midtown, Gramercy, and Tribeca."

Sarabeth’s Upper West Side serves up a great breakfast. The menu has the usual suspects for an American style breakfast. Omelettes packed with cheese along with vegetables and meats depending on the order. Service courteous and prompt. If your cell phone isn’t working, you can make a call from the pay phone in the basement. Do have some gluten free options.

We celebrated my husband’s early Bday dinner yesterday at Sarabeth’s UWS location, and it was such a delightful evening! From the front entrance, entire staff were extremely friendly and courteous. We dined really early, so it was quite in the restaurant which was perfect for us. Food was great and drinks were strong and delicious. Everything was great but Chicken Pot Pie was our favorite. It was savory, creamy and rich. Chocolate toffee cake was extremely rich and delicious as well. Overall, a really pleasant evening thanks to wonderful staff and great food!

Showing it's age... It might be Amazing for tourists, but the competition is stiff on the UWS. Everything is showing it's age at this point, and it's time for a refresh... Service was Good - but not Excellent, Good was Good - but not Excellent and Atmosphere is a little less than good with chairs that are loose, dirt in the corners and the crevices. It's time to close down for a week, clean up, shape up and start fresh. You guys are Better than this

Loved this place. Very cute, intimate, peaceful place with outstanding food! Michelle took great care of us. I especially enjoyed the lemon and herb braised chicken with fingerling potatotes from the Restaurant Week special menu. I hope that becomes a regular dish- so tender and the sauce was amazing! A new favorite place 😀

Google
The restaurant week $30 two-course lunch was quite good. The watermelon and pumpkin seeds added textural contrast to the gazpacho, while the avocado gave it some richness. The doubled dipped crispy chicken was served on a bed of cabbage salad. The amount of dressing was just right but it could have done away with the cornbread croutons as there were not crisp or but rather dry and crumbly. Price-wise this offer is almost getting the first course for free as most plates are around the $30.

Great place to stop for breakfast before going to the Natural History Museum, which is just a few minutes away on foot. I had the Farmer's Omelette with greens and wheat toast. Everything tasted great and the service was good!

While in New York try to figure out which is your favorite location. Good Southern comfort food that can’t go wrong.

Yelp
It's an attractive pleasant space, and as bustling as you'd expect during a Sunday brunch. If the weather's nice, outside provides a more peaceful setting. Service is friendly and efficient. They deserve a solid 5 stars for the salmon benedict. Absolute brunch perfection. Smooth salmon, a perfectly soft cooked egg, flavorful hollandaise, a fresh green bit of side salad. As I finished it, I thought it would be hard to imagine anything tasting any better than that. Which is about as much of a complement as you can give a dish. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
I love a local spot, it is a chain in the City. I came here because they offered popovers and they're one of my favorite things to eat. I was disappointed with the staff. It was our first time here and our eyes are always bigger than our stomach so we wanted to make sure we ordered appropriately. When asking about the wild mushroom popover our waiter told us it was one popover with small mushrooms inside it. So we ordered the popover, lemon ricotta pancakes, the quiche and a side of pork and apricot sausage. IT WAS TOO MUCH FOR TWO PEOPLE Our waiter even made a little "oh okay" noise after we ordered, but we weren't sure why until all the food came. Loved the mushroom popover - it's a EGG scramble and totally misrepresented by the waiter, the popover was just okay. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good. I loved the side salads that accompanied both the popover and the quiche. Overall a solid spot for breakfast, nothing mind blowing minus the mushroom scramble - that was lovely, but it's an egg dish with a side of popover vs a filled popover.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in for brunch on a bright Saturday morning. It wasn't too cold outside and since we didn't make reservations ahead of time, they told us that it was either about an hour wait or we could sit outside. There were heaters so we took the chance. It wasn't bad. We kept our coats on but the heaters worked great! I ordered coffee and water to start and then decided to add a mimosa a little later. Our waitress was very gracious and had expressed no complaints on my additional beverage order. I got the farmer's omelet (leeks, ham, potato, guyere). Delicious! I have never had an omelet prepared so delicately and with so much flavor. I am normally opposed to ordering an omelet when somewhere unfamiliar for fear of getting a rubbery or odd textured one but I'm glad I did. The portion was also huge! I ate half. I was too full to eat any more and was sad to leave the other half behind. My order also came with a small serving of greens tossed in vinaigrette and a wonderfully baked muffin. So while people might think $21 is steep for an omelet, it comes with 2 other sides making it actually reasonable. My one friend ordered the quiche. She thought it would be a tiny quiche but it was actually large. She also did not finish. She ordered a side of their pork and apricot sausages ($10 for three large sausages). She shared and wow, they were absolutely to die for! Our other friend ordered the steak Benedict. It looked very tantalizing. I could tell he enjoyed it a lot. I was quite pleased with our visit here that we almost went back another morning but alas, we had other agenda that didn't quite work as well to factor in another stop. The next time I am in NYC, this is definitely a repeat stop.

Yelp
It is what it is. You come to Sarabeth's because it's an institution, or because it's the gathering place for Manhattanite weekend social rituals. Food is OK. Service is OK. Everything in line with expectations as long as your expectations are correct.

Mizan R.

Yelp
Went here on a sunday for brunch it was cozy seating and heating calm vibes. the service was good waitress is very kind and helpful she even fixed the wobbly table without us even asking or realizing. we got a couple mocktails like lavender lemonade and mai tai lemonade it was way too sugary and sour but after the ice diluted it was refreshing lemon ricotta pancakes was a hit i enjoyed it very much. the omelette was mids i don't recommend it, definitely needed more seasoning chef forgot the salt. Nice day for a brunch B-

Yelp
Absolutely lovely. Very busy. People clearly love this place and for good reason. The food and the service are exceptional. I've never had a bad meal here or less than excellent service. It's definitely one of my go-to places.

Carlie M.

Yelp
Came in for brunch last weekend while in the city. I never went when I lived there so wanted to give it a try. It is definitely pricey but worth a visit. We got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the eggs any style. It was so much food! The pancakes were tasty but needed more syrup. The eggs and bacon were tasty and came with our choice of breakfast bread - we got the pumpkin muffin.

Didi G.

Yelp
The lemon ricotta pancakes are a delight to the palate, totally scrumptious! The tomato soup is also excellent and I don't normally eat tomato soup. I have never ordered something from here that I was disappointed with. I just wish that they had kept their other locations open. Wonderful restaurant-highly recommended.

Latoya T.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this restaurant and I was so pleased with everything. I can't wait to go back. The ambiance was great, the service was top tier! I loved my waitress ( sorry I forgot her name ): ) my friend was running late and she made me feel so comfortable because we were both worried they would tell us to leave. Lastly the coffee, food and the mimosas were great! Like I said before I can't wait to go back! Would definitely recommend!

Bri K.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the brunch menu, the pancakes had a slight citrus taste that wasn't too overpowering and complemented the sweetness of the fluffy pancakes. The French toast was just as soft, fluffy and flavorful. The sweet breakfast portion is a must when you go! The eggs were fluffy and pulled pork hash was seasoned to perfection. My friend got a burger from the lunch portion and felt the burger was a little dry but every other component was good. The service was friendly and very sophisticated I loved it. The ambiance was a dim light and casual setting. My only complaint is the overkill pricing on the sides, although you get ~5 pieces for bacon, $14 is a bit much if not every piece is done to perfection (no burnt pieces). Don't get me wrong though the bacon was goodt and crispy, surprisingly the way I like it cause ALOT of places fail in that dept/require the emphasis of "crispy" (sorry bacon enthusiast here) . Overall, my experience here was an A/4.5!

Dakota L.

Yelp
First time visiting New York, and this was the only place with available reservations for Thanksgiving dinner! I was a little nervous given previous reviews, but we were very happy with the food, service, and ambiance! The Thanksgiving meal included crab cakes, apple fig salad, steak, with mashed yams, asparagus, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and finished off with pumpkin pie, and a berry crisp with vanilla ice cream, it did not disappoint!

Kenzie G.

Yelp
Saturday morning(ish) we were looking for brunch food and this place did not disappoint! We were a party of 2 and didn't have reservations, but we were seated right away, inside tables were only available. This place does have a cute patio seating so maybe next time, will try to get a table there. Ordered a Bloody Mary and mimosa - wish the Bloody Mary was a little spicier, but that's only feedback on drinks. The food was great, the portions are a good size and they have a lot of variety when it comes to their benedicts (which is why we were there) I ordered the quiche (HUGE PIECE LIKE A CAKE, so goooooood) and also ordered the Lox Benedict, pretty pleased with it. Service was attentive and nice, our waiter was super helpful with different recs. Great place to take out-of-towners, family, and lowkey brunch spot

Jeannette U.

Yelp
I think this has been the most expensive brunch place I've been to. A naturally squeezed orange juice was $15! Food is extremely underwhelming for how overpriced it is. I would never return here. There's way better brunch places with decent prices.

Amber P.

Yelp
This food was amazing, the server Kimberly was a great example of what a company stands for, She made my Valentine's Day and set the tone .

Lisa S.

Yelp
I have been here numerous times and always enjoyed it. I had a friend visiting from oversea last week, and decided to take her here for brunch. We had a wonderful time and stayed for a long time, chatting and catching up, without any interference or pressure to leave from the restaurant. The food is always delicious and although it can get quite busy at times, the staff is very attentive. It is on the pricey side, unfortunately, but this is the Upper West Side so you sort of expect that going out to eat will cost you more than it should.

Tina H.

Yelp
Fantastic breakfast! We had the fluffy french toast with strawberries, the avocado toast came with eggs, the lox scrambled eggs and coffee. Added a side of fries. Everything was simply delicious! The service could be better. The waitress did not even top up our water the whole time we were there.

Bo K.

Yelp
This is a tourist trap and we fell right into it, since this location is near the American Museum of Natural History. We made two online reservations for a party of 9 because of the limits imposed on the website. We're familiar with doing so and have never encountered issues until now. Despite adding notes on our reservations that we were together, the hostess stated that she could not place us close to one another because we made separate reservations. I'm not sure what the purpose of being able to add notes on a reservation is then. We were placed on two ends of the restaurant. Yet there were plenty of empty seats next to us, as pictured. The eggs benedict was so underwhelming. One egg yolk barely oozed, and the other did not at all - see my photo. The skillet cinnamon bun was dry and bland. The short rib tater tots tasted fine but $15 for five single bites is a little ridiculous. The standouts to us were the Goldie lox scramble and lemon ricotta pancakes. The lox was a little on the salty side but the portion of the dish was fair and the popover was nice. We all liked the pancakes even though it was on the dry side. Overall, the food was okay but nothing to rave about. The service we received (or lack thereof) when we entered spoiled our visit from the start. Especially considering their prices, I'd try elsewhere for a breakfast fix in the city.

Camy K.

Yelp
The restaurant is spacious by New York standard. We made two separate reservations with seven rooms since they would not allow one large 9 people party. We made a note on both reservations that we were actually one party. When we arrived the check in staff summarily ignored our request and said because we booked two reservations we can't be seated together. Only for us to have a empty 4 people table right next to our other table of 5 for the entire duration of our visit. The waiter we had was good. But she never made an attempt to refill our water. Food itself was very underwhelming. The cinnamon bun was very dry and bland. The egg on the egg benedict was overcooked. Other dishes we had such as the Goldie Lox scramble was solid with no critiques. The popover was good. Overall, I don't recommend making the trek here with any sort of expectations. We will not be returning.

C L.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and to enjoy the Thursday night jazz. I recommend sitting on the far side from the band to make it easier to chat. The food was good and the duck was cooked perfectly EXCEPT an extraordinary amount of salt. I know that chefs love salt but this was a little distracting to the meal. I would come again if the chef could adjust the meal accordingly.

Kate F.

Yelp
This is the type of place that gets raves for being one of the best brunch spots in the city. However, I found it to be just another pretentious tourist trap. We made a reservation for brunch on a 20 degree day, but since we did not specify a table indoors, we were told to wait "atleast 30 minutes". I'm not trying be a Karen, but the hostess gave us a considerable attitude. Once seated, the service was fast and the food came quickly. I ordered the garden omelette which was mediocre at best. The cheese was bland and the eggs tasted straight out of a Marriott breakfast buffet. Popovers were disappointing as well. However, the wild mushroom scramble was tasty. Maybe I'm being too critical, but for the prestige and price, the experience was very underwhelming.

Tammie W.

Yelp
Total tourist trap directly across from Central Park, but we were hungry and it was conveniently located to where we were going. I ordered the green & white popper which was 2 scrambled eggs with cream cheese and scallions alongside a green tossed salad with oil and vinegar and a popover with butter and their homemade orange fr marmalade on the side. The eggs were super yummy and soft mixed with the tang from the cream cheese. There were too many for me to eat, so I ended up giving half to my husband. The popover was hot and the butter and orange marmalade were superb. $24 for my breakfast which is overpriced but was very tasty. The hubby had the special at $27 which came with scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon and a piece of chicken sausage. Pair that with his cup of coffee and that's $32 for breakfast just for him. A side of bacon was $14, so we opted not to do that. The restaurant is big, not enough bathrooms, servers were delightful and food was good. I wouldn't go back because of the prices but the location is convenient and I can see why they're so busy.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Sarabeth's offers a very classic and lively atmosphere for brunch, with the interior feeling very warm and cozy. However, the food here is just mediocre and a little overpriced.

Ali S.

Yelp
One of the best brunch places in NY! The Egg Benedict was class! Great service and ambiance as well. Try the 4 fruit Juice you won't regret it!

June X.

Yelp
We went back in the fall and got the Classic Ham Benedict, applewood smoked bacon, truffle fries, and pancakes with figs. Everything was delicious and service was great. Overall just a bit pricey, but would definitely come back!

Zoe H.

Yelp
Sarabeth offers a proper brunch! The pancakes were fluffy and light and the berries were perfectly sweet. The waffle was delicious and oh-so-buttery! As for savory, just as good. Deliciously flavorful and the portions were amazing. Definitely packed it up and ate the rest of it later! The UWS location is spacious although it was a bit dark inside considering the bright, yummy food. Service was great! Enthusiastic and polite.

Joe M.

Yelp
Used to love this place. This was our weekly spot. They must have changed management, because all of the sudden, it had gone downhill. Very disappointing service. Kicked us out while we were still enjoying our lunch. Sleepy atmosphere. Food made us queasy. Way too pricey even for extremely sour New York pancakes. Left a bad taste in my mouth - and it wasn't just pancakes!

Patrice G.

Yelp
Went there to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. They put us right by the front door. I asked for a table in the back so my mother would not have to be cold and they did not even try to accommodate us. Then we ordered a carafe of mimosas. We waited an exceptionally long time and when the waiter finally brought it over he placed the carafe and glasses in front of my husband and told him he would have to pour. Then we saw a mouse run under our table and through the restaurant. Time to leave!!!!!

Bijou C.

Yelp
Sarabeth's is an iconic establishment and I am sort of abashed that I don't dine there more often because it is a sublime experience. The food is wonderful and portions generous. The service is great and the ambiance is so comfortable and relaxed. I definitely plan to dine there more!! I posted our visit on Facebook and the responses were overwhelmingly positive. Many had fond memories of going to Sarabeth's when they lived in the city. I am lucky to still live only blocks away from the restaurant!

M L.

Yelp
Well prepared food in a small pleasant restaurant. Attentive service. Make reservations, even for breakfast. Highly recommended.

Kate M.

Yelp
I came here on a weekend for brunch. I had been to other Sarabeth locations in the past. Sarabeth's is just reliably good - good food, good service, good decor. The menu has a large variety of options and the prices are fair for the quality and portion size. Credit to the hostess who was very patiently dealing with an elderly couple next to me, complaining about absolutely nothing. She was more patient than I would have been.

Justin M.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and had a wonderful time. Eggs Benedict was perfect!! Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Loved the ambiance and music.

Ami Y.

Yelp
I went to grab some lunch with a friend. The inside is spacious and there are some outdoor seatings as well. It was a little chilly so we decided to sit inside. I got the waffles with some fruits. I was happy it actually came with real maple syrup, as it should. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside and it was very good. It wasn't so filling and I got hungry again after an hour or so, but still good experience.

Jake W.

Yelp
First time I have had dinner at Sarabeth's and it was exceptional. Salmon was fantastic as well as the amazing Bruschetta app. All of my friends commented on how good the food was and it was nice that it was a quiet atmosphere so was easy to chat. The manager was very kind to let our table stay and chat long after the restaurant had closed. Will definitely be back for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Andrea C.

Yelp
Love it here! Food is great and I can always find a reservation! Nice spot for a brunch too!

Caren B.

Yelp
friendly accommodating staff. good food. best of all the live music jazz combo every Thursday from 6-9.

Chill P.

Yelp
Wonderful place for brunch. Very helpful and polite staff make it this a very rewarding experience. The breakfast menu is very good and has a wide variety that will suit everyone's palate. Nice decoration and selection of spirits. Sitting at the bar isn't that bad either!

Rebeka B.

Yelp
Enjoyed a good, quick brunch here! Shout out to Jayson our server. He was funny, friendly, and attentive. We ordered the 2 egg plate, avocado toast, and a side of chicken sausages. The side of chicken sausages come with the 3, so worth it for the price. The 2 egg plate was great and super filling. I had the avocado toast which was alright, wouldn't necessarily recommend based on my personal taste. Maybe would be better with a topping added, I added the arugula on top while eating and it tasted better. But some of the food other people were getting looked incredibly delicious. So I definitely think we should've instead had some french toast or pancakes! Good experience, would return with a different choice of food.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a 10 degree Saturday. Food, ambiance and service were really great! Just a little annoyed when we were told that we had 5 mins left at 12:55pm when our reservation was for 11:30am-1:30pm.

Magenta B.

Yelp
Sad excuse for brunch. Overhyped, mediocre at best, underwhelming and ordinary. Go elsewhere, plenty of top notch establishments to pick from in this town.

Charles S.

Yelp
the food is fantastic (especially the salmon/eggs benedict. sooo good. also, please know your two hosts, emma and sidney are exceptional. this morning they were confronted by a rude customer that felt rules of "first come first serve" didn't apply to her. i listened as she was so over the top rude and both emma and sidney handled the situation sooo professionally with respect and courtesy. sarabeth, you are fortunate to have both of these people on your side. they represent your brand well.

Madiella R.

Yelp
Very good service! Started out with a water and a hot chocolate and ended with the pancakes and a skillet cinnamon roll. I was not completely satisfied with the cinnamon roll as here was an over abundance of icing and not much flavor. The pancakes were amazing. The hot chocolate was excellent. The fruit bowl is very generous, and the omelette and bacon was the best had in a long time!! I very much recommend this place and it was a great way to start my NYC day. On a side note, there was no toilet paper in the restroom and it was unsanitary.

S. B.

Yelp
I really wish there was another UWS brunch spot. Hostesses have always been friendly and food is good albeit overpriced but that seems to be the world these days But I've never had my water glass filled. I've always had to make a real effort to get attention of wait staff, for anything and everything. And then the endless wait for the check. And today we got the half burnt bacon. We will continue to go, but will also always be looking for a new spot

Angela B.

Yelp
Breakfast on Monday around 9:30....pretty slow for the restaurant. Got sat right away, we had a reservation as I wasn't sure how busy they'd be. Ordered coffee right away as we had a long night...coffee was very tasty. The cream/milk came in a unbalanced container and when the table moved it spilled all over the other person in my party. The server wasn't very concerned. And thankfully we were towards the end of our meal. Had the egg Benedict and quiche. Both were good and I'd like to try other things on the menu.

Natasha L.

Yelp
This is a nice, elegant cafe that feels very upper class. We were seated inside for breakfast. The service can be a little slow but the food is pretty tasty - just nothing too special and maybe more on the pricey side. I got the avocado toast and added on a side of smoked salmon - they were generous with the avocado and the bread was quite nicely toasted. My partner got the two egg set with smoked salmon and it was also good, just pretty standard.

Jaimee A.

Yelp
The Yelp is mightier than the sword. Today we decided to go back to Sarabeth's West since we had such a great experience a few weeks back. Let me preface this by saying the food and and the server were terrific. The manager and hostess, well they need to attend some customer service training. We arrived early for our reservation and requested an outside table due to Covid. The table we were shown to, was loaded with flies (we counted 8) swarming the table. I will upload video if Yelp allows. I told the hostess and she seemed impossibly burdened with my request for another table and told me to speak with the manager. The manager came to our table and said that it was because of the weather (it was humid). I asked for another table and she said the other table that could accommodate our party also had flies. My husband requested that they turn on the fans as a deterrent to the flies (kind of shocked they weren't on already). I told her I wanted to wait until the rest of our party to arrive before we made the decision whether or not to stay. I pointed out that files were a health code issue. She corrected me and said "actually, it's not" and walked away I started to video the flies swarming the table and the manager must have saw this because she then asked if we wanted a table inside and that we needed to make a decision right now because she needed this table. I said, you can wait until my whole party arrives as my reservation is not for another five minutes also I am a yelper so be mindful. I told her we were reluctant to eat inside due to the Delta Variant and she looked at me like I was speaking another language. We ultimately decided to sit inside. As I stated earlier, the food and the server were great. Ironically when we were walking to and home from the restaurant, none of the outdoor seating areas had the same issue - and they had real plants around their perimeter. Whether or not we decide to come back remains to be seen.

Shareta W.

Yelp
The food is exquisite! My first time having Egg Benedict and it was absolutely amazing . The eggs were made to perfection. The pork sausage was bathed in a sausage sauce with a hint of mango and ginger under tone flavor . I mean WOW! I'm empresses and I will definitely come back . Everything I ordered was literally made to perfection from taste to quality of preparation. Also the staff here was soo sweet and kind . Thank you

Peter C.

Yelp
Sarabeth's is a must for brunch! Came with a large group (10) and they were able to seat us all comfortably. We did make a reservation a week in advance Me and my friend split a sweet and savory dish and got the adult grilled cheese and the fluffy French toast. Both were incredible. I also got a side of pork sausage which was also good

Casey S.

Yelp
Came for a late low key brunch, sat outside, and had the best time. Was really in the mood for pancakes or French toast and I was so happy I went w the French toast. It was pretty expensive compared to a diner, but it was the perfect amount of sweetness, portion and made with challah bread. What we ordered: Lemon ricotta pancakes Fluffy French toast Lemon ricotta pancakes: way too sweet for me, but def gave you a lot. French toast: get it! Will def be back for more

Steven W.

Yelp
I enjoyed the croissants with a slice of banana bread. Great service and location. They did check for vaccinations when you are dining in. Line moved quickly for a Friday morning.

Vaughn F.

Yelp
Saturday brunch, no wait for a table for 2. I had the eggs benedict while my girlfriend opted for the farmer's omelette. Both dishes were cooked nicely, tasted great, and the ingredients were very fresh. The famous marmalade on a piece of bran muffin is a vibe.
