"Modeled after the ice cream shop’s birthday cake and blackberries flavor, Salt & Straw’s ice cream cake features seven layers of rainbow-flecked yellow cake and its Double Fold Vanilla ice cream swirled with blackberry jam. The cake is finished with cream cheese frosting and birthday cake crumbles — and it’s a veritable must for summer birthdays when it’s extra hot out. It’s available for pick-up or delivery." - Michelle Lopez, Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Janey Wong

"There are plenty of other specialty ice cream shops out there, but in my opinion, there is no other like Salt & Straw. Their thoughtfully creative flavors, often drawing inspiration from chefs, notables, and locally made products are created with the intention to taste curiously delicious and not just to shock your palate. Their Classic flavors (like Arbequina Olive Oil and Blue Cheese & Pear) are worth the visit, but the monthly changing Seasonal line-up always steals the show. I recommend having the helpful cheery staff guide you through tasting every seasonal flavor. They encourage it! Then order a split scoop of two because you will have a hard time narrowing down your choices." - Factory North

"If you really love someone, you’ll send them five pints of ice cream to eat every single month via Salt & Straw’s Pint Club. As the name indicates, the Portland, Oregon-based creamery will ship five random pints of their always unique flavors to your recipient each month. Note that each includes a “selection of flavors that are both dairy-based and vegan, and some contain nuts or soy.” Three-month, six-month, and year-long subscriptions are available." - Amy McCarthy

"Subverting dessert expectations, ice cream purveyors Salt & Straw have turned savory dishes like turkey stuffing and potato casserole into sweet ice creams. Other flavors in the Thanksgiving series are Parker House rolls with salted buttercream, mango pie, and the vegan option pumpkin and gingersnap pie. Order through the website for pickup or delivery." - Janey Wong

"Salt & Straw, a Portland, Oregon-based ice creamery, opened its new location at UnCommons in Las Vegas on June 16. The venue introduced its Upcycled Food Series and several classic flavors. Co-founder Tyler Malek mentioned plans for unique Vegas-only ice cream combinations influenced by the art culture in the city. The limited edition flavors for June aim to educate about food waste, utilizing ingredients that would otherwise be discarded. The ice creamery aims to provide more than just ice cream; it offers an educational and engaging experience for visitors." - Ryan Slattery
