Saint Luca

Extraordinary greek-cross plan church with exquisite frescoes by Domenico Piola and his son Paolo Gerolamo Piola representing stories from the life of St. Luke.

Pretty small but unique church built and run by the nobiliar family of Spinola. It's the only church in Genova who's still run by a family. You can notice intense baroque and flemming influences in the art displayed here.

You need to see this insane cathedral when in Genua. Try to find it but don't get lost in the labyrinth of alleys like I did. There is no GPS in these canyons.

Lovely place

Impactada con la belleza de ésta iglesia. Íbamos de regreso a nuestro hotel y estaba en nuestro camino, muy simple su fachada pero su interior impacto.

Parrocchia gentilizia del ' 500 delle famiglie Grimaldi e Spinola, ma che ha origini medioevali. Si affaccia sull'omonima Piazza e via del centro storico molto trafficata. La chiesa viene riedificata nel 1600 ed uno dei migliori esempi del barocco genovese. Affrescata da Domenico Piola, la chiesa è ricca di ornamenti in marmo di Filippo Parodi per la realizzazione della statua della Beata Vergine che adorna il tabernacolo centrale. Da segnalare il quadro della Natività del Grechetto. Inoltre, grazie all'acustica perfetta si svolgono regolarmente concerti di musica da camera.
