"The New 400 Theaters, Rogers Park Edgewater. Sometimes the best way to see a movie on the big screen isn't to see it in a theatre with 200 Lay-Z-Boy seats, a 40 foot tall screen, a sound system ready to deafen. Sometimes a small room with a couple dozen chairs, a projector, and a box of popcorn is all you need. The new 400 cinemas is a great way to get away for a movie without all the distractions or the cost that comes with them."

This is a true neighborhood gem, with the kindest owners and staff. We always feel welcomed, ticket prices and popcorn are reasonably priced, and each theater is an intimate experience, laughing and watching with maybe up to 50 other people. We love that we can walk to this beauty.

A quaint, old theater. Sound was still great. Seats could use a refresh (if you're sensitive about that in your watching experience) It still provides a great, small community feel to your movie night. And the snacks are cheaper than the big name places! It's a great place to watch a movie and support local historical business without feeling like you're sacrificing quality for supporting your community

The staff is great and drink prices are acceptable. Only complaints are that the popcorn was burnt (probably just an occasional issue) and the seats are quite uncomfortable (my behind and friend's behinds hurt or fell asleep repeatedly). They need new seats pretty badly.

I love this theater (cinema) because is more cheap than greatest. But not only "cheap" is the reason, also popcorns are delicious, the space in rooms is enough and intimate. There is discounts for students!

I have lived in Rogers Park for 15yrs & just love this neighborhood! The 400 is one of the many reasons why. It's located within walking distance of my home. The theater is very comfortable, the popcorn always fresh & all for a decent price. I cannot imagine Rogers Park without The 400! Thisplaceneighborhood gen

Cute old theater with potential; however, don't eat the popcorn. It tasted like old, bad oil, and I only ate a handful and felt sick most of the evening. The sound is great!

Go support this local theatre! Very affordable. So many options to drink and eat. When I said to the staff, "please give me a ridiculous amount of butter on my popcorn," she heaped it on until it was dripping out the bottom - I was utterly thrilled. We saw the DnD movie and we had a lovely time. Wear layers, it does get pretty chilly in the theatre!
