Royal Palms in Bucktown is a vibrant spot where you can sip tropical cocktails, feast from rotating food trucks, and engage in friendly shuffleboard matches.
"Royal Palms is like a photogenic cruise ship complete with tropical drinks and 11 full-size shuffleboard courts. The shuffleboard is the main attraction here, but there’s also a giant Connect Four, ring toss, and a photo booth with props that you can take advantage of without having to pay to attend someone’s wedding. The winner-stays-on shuffleboard court on the roof is set up like a pool deck, and they even have complimentary sunscreen—probably because they know you’re going to want to spend all afternoon up there." - josh barnett, john ringor
"Bucktown’s shuffleboard club not only houses multiple bars, courts, and food trucks — it also has a rooftop bar. Named the Lido Deck, the sun-drenched second-floor space offers another bar, another court, and multiple seating options to soak in the summer for those getting into the game or otherwise. It’s open seasonally from May through September and is subject to bad-weather closings." - Ashok Selvam, Naomi Waxman
"Wicker Park: The Chicago Pizza Summit is returning after a little nap, coming to the Royal Palm Shuffleboard Club on Sunday, October 15." - Naomi Waxman
"Royal Palms in Bucktown is a bright, airy bar with palm trees and shuffleboard courts. It kind of feels like a cruise ship (minus the seasickness), and the drinks here are great, from a frozen piña colada to their Shuffleboard Bob made with gin, coconut water, lime, and cucumber. Weekends can be super busy, but on weekdays it’s easy to walk in and get a game going. They also have rooftop courts, just make sure to warm up beforehand since they have a “winner stays on'' policy and legendary Shuffleboard Bob may make a surprise appearance." - john ringor
"Royal Palms in Bucktown makes you feel like you’ve escaped winter by stowing away on a cruise ship. The interior looks like the lovechild of a rec center and a Tommy Bahama catalog, and they take shuffleboard seriously. There are 11 full-sized courts, and you can either get a team together for a league or (if you’ve never played before) the staff will help you with the basics. They also have food trucks and oversized board games, so even if all the courts are full, you’ll have something to do while you wait." - josh barnett
