The opera is a fascinating place to visit, and it’s one of those locations that you can fully enjoy without the need for a guide. However, it’s worth knowing in advance that the experience spans multiple buildings, each offering something unique to explore.
To start, there is a museum that you can visit free of charge. This museum provides an engaging introduction to the world of opera, performances, and music. It is highly interactive, making it suitable for visitors of all ages, and includes detailed explanations available in both English and Arabic. The interactive displays allow you to immerse yourself in the history and art of opera, making it a fun and educational experience.
In the same building as the museum, there is also a shopping gallery featuring a selection of luxury shops and products. However, when I visited, the gallery felt quite empty, almost like a ghost town. This could have been due to the time of day I was there, so your experience might be different if you visit at a busier hour.
Just outside the shopping center, near the parking area, you’ll find the main entrance to the opera house itself. Unlike the museum, access to the opera house is not free. The entrance fee is 3.15 dirhams per person, which I found to be a very reasonable price considering the quality of the visit. The opera house is an impressive space that has been thoughtfully designed, and exploring it feels like stepping into a world of art and culture.
Overall, this is a destination that I would highly recommend. It’s a place that has been carefully planned to provide a memorable experience for visitors. Whether you’re traveling solo or with family, the visit is straightforward, enjoyable, and doesn’t require a guide to appreciate its beauty and significance.
