Rovello 18

Lovely restaurant especially the outdoor dining area for the warm weather. Excellent food and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the octopus and all the signature dishes of Milan. The desserts (chocolate cake and cheese cake) were the cherry on top.

Loved this place! I went there following a friend’s recommendation and it was totally worth it. Their Risotto Milanese was delicious, the waiter recommended great white wines that go with it. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being too much or making you feel uncomfortable. We also tried their baked cheesecake and tiramisu - both of them totally delish.

We were a group of 15 people, but the staffs were very friendly and accommodating. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their dishes. The veal cutlet was superb. I could see that the local business men were using this place, and this usually means a good sign. I would definitely go back for my next trip in Milan.

My favorite meal during my 3 night stay in Milan - went back twice. Still dreaming about this tomato pasta that had incredible depth of flavor and perfectly textured noodles. Price was also very reasonable!

Food was very average with good wine. We got the veal milanese which was on the heavier and saltier side. The past with eggplant was good 4/5. Vibe is very very cool and people were nice. Central location. Cool interior. I wish the food was more elevated, the veal milanese was average but otherwise excellent spot.

The restaurant was truly exceptional before its move out of Brera. Unfortunately, it has since become overly commercialized, seemingly focused on serving as many American tourists as possible in a short time. The once-authentic Italian ambiance has been replaced with the feel of a bustling sushi bar.

Overall, Rovello 18 offers a relaxing dining experience with excellent food, service, and value.

Initially, the atmosphere felt a bit distant, but once the meal arrived, the service became excellent. The staff was knowledgeable, and the food had a charming, rustic, and homey quality nothing over sophisticated. The cacio e Pepe was likely the best I've ever had, and the desserts were delightful too

We had dinner here on a Thursday night on our second night of vacation. Our reservation was for 7:00 which is early in Italy so the restaurant was pretty empty upon arrival. By the time we left the tables were mostly occupied and there was a lively atmosphere in the dining area. For dinner we had: Cacio e Pepe pasta - cooked perfectly al dente and very delicious, but also super rich. Perfect to share with the table because I didn't want more than a bite or two. Watermelon & Feta salad - Fresh, nice and light Hummus with Pickled Beets - Seemed like an interested started to have at an Italian restaurant but was really very good Spaghettini with Tomato & Tropea Onion - this was the stand out dish for me. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the tomatoes were jammy, sweet perfection. Tagliatelle with Bra Ragout - My husband let me have a bite, and it was great but I still preferred the tomato spaghetti Sautéed Greens - well flavored but a little salty Overall we had a very nice dinner here with good service and good food!

We booked a reservation here on the last night of our trip. It's hard to escape tourists but the later you eat, the more locals you see. So expect your 7pm reservation to be amongst fellow visitors. We found the service to be friendly and attentive. The wine list is accessible via QR code, which personally I didn't like. It was a little cumbersome to read through it. It's an excellent list which would be best read on paper. We enjoyed the burrata antipasto along with the anchovies and brioche. Followed by cacio e Pepe, bra sausage ragu and the fave bean pasta. They were all excellent. For secondi we ordered the veal Milanese, veal tonnato, and the octopus. We also ordered the zucchini soup for our daughter. The pastas were cooked perfectly al dente. The sauces were just right. We enjoyed this meal very much and would return.

Wonderful Dinner in Milan We had an amazing first dinner in Milan at Rovello 18. I found this place originally on Eater.com where it was highly recommended. The reviews at TripAdvisor were mixed which in retrospect makes me trust that site even less. Making the reservation via their website was very easy. The unassuming restaurant is about a 15 minute walk from the Duomo. Once inside the surroundings are simple yet elegant. Service was prompt and attentive. We tried the Russian salad, veal Milanese, pasta with mussels, and pasta with guanciale, and a side of mixed sautéed vegetables. The shrimp and mussels were some of the best I've ever eaten and flawlessly cooked. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and extremely delicious. I thought the price to portion ratio was reasonable. Food: 4.5 stars Ambiance: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars I highly recommend Rovello 18 and would definitely return.

I had one of my two favorite dinners during my trip to Milan here. I walked in on a Saturday at 7:15 and while they were fully booked on reservations for the night, they were able to accommodate me dining solo for 1-hour. So definitely make a reservation, or come in early when they start serving dinner. I started with the Finferli soup with taleggio cheese and bacon (5/5), which was divine. Ate every last drop, and used the free bread that came with it to soak up the last bits of it. I was surprised and delighted to see a selection of truffle dishes on the menu. A truffle pasta was my favorite dish during my first trip to Italy 18 years before, so I decided to treat myself (It was 75 euro!) and make another lasting memory by ordering their white truffle pasta (5/5). It was worth every euro. It's the best pasta I've had since the first time I had truffle pasta in Florence in 2004! If you can afford it, I highly recommend ordering the white truffle pasta if it's available.

Great service and wonderful wine selections. The Anchovies and Branzino dish was excellent.

We weren't very hungry and only ordered the spaghetti with guanciale and a green vegetable and the steak tartare. The spaghetti was delicious and the greens added a nice crunch and delicate flavor to the pasta. We mentioned that we were sharing and they served the pasta separately which was a nice touch, but hence the small portion size in the picture. The steak tartare on the other hand was slightly disappointing and underwhelming, to say the least. While the taste was okay, it seemed bland, even with the mustard on the side. If we were to go back, we would definitely try something else instead of the steak tartare, perhaps the ragu or truffle pasta instead. We had a reservation at 7pm, which was the first seating of the night, so the restaurant was pretty empty when we went and it felt very intimate and quiet. Service was excellent, the waiters were all pleasant and spoke English to us. Do note there is a ~3-5 euro service charge for the meal, which includes water and bread I believe (can't remember the exact number), which is pretty standard for most restaurants we visited while we were in Milan.

Milan, Italy Not bad, not great. Ate here in Sept 22, sat outside. Service was very good, as was the atmosphere. An American perspective on the food, it was nothing special. We had the Tuna Tartar (decent), Octopus (not bad, I've had much better) ... Pasta w/ Fish (The pasta was great, al dente/perfect, exactly what you'd expect in Italy, the fish was terrible like salty tuna. Also had cheesecake with berries. Very good, US Cheesecake is more Cream cheese based, this cheese cake was more young natural cheese tasting... excellent. Great 'Coffee' ...

We had booked this restaurant on a friend's recommendation and as the day came closer, I had read some of the reviews here and was more than a little nervous. But as always, I should trust my friends - this place was fantastic. Service was very attentive - as more people were coming in a little later in the meal (hoping to score a table), our waiter actually told us not to rush and take our time. Started with the carciofi al forno and a mixed salami plate. They have a prosciutto that is aged 77 months that is ridiculously good. For pasta I had the homemade tagliatelle with ragu di salsicca di Bra and my husband had the Chiartarra with guanciale and puntarelle. Amazingly cooked, fresh, delicious. We then got the costaletta (aka Veal Milanese) - technically my husband got it but it was huge and good and they hooked me up with a small plate to share. Dessert was a chocolate cake with hot pepper - don't judge, it was fabulous. Wine selection here was really good. You could spend as much as your entire vacation on a bottle, or get something really good at a reasonable price. The service was at the same level as all the restaurants in Milan we've eaten at (we're here for 7days) slow, slightly rude but hey we're used to it. Our waitress did a great job on selecting wine for us. They brought out cold bread, we had to ask for oil and vinegar, we ordered the zucchini blossom it had potential but was pretty much tasteless (I looked pretty tho). On to our meal we ordered we entrees the pasta with tomatoes and bacon-good (not amazing) but good. Ravioli-it literally tasted like dry chicken noodle soup my palette was confused but I like chicken noodle soup so..... take it as you will. Now let's talk about the reason we went there....the fettuccine!!!! We it was terribly dry (sigh) so my friend asked if we could get more cheese sauce, the first girl ran away when we asked then a guy came back, we asked for more sauce he flat out said NO! Then went on to very loudly explain that they would have to make a lot of pasta and cheese sauce. My friend is an elite private chef for a professional athlete so she knows what's she asking for. It would have taken less than 5 mins to throw some heavy cream in a saucepan sprinkle a little pharm cheese in and bring it out as requested. My 12yr old made it all the time. The food was disappointing but the staff was a real disappointment. Well there you go my honest review. Ambiance-cramped

Visited here while in Milan. Amazing veal Milanese with the bone!!! Beautiful peas and string beans with onion as well. Friendly staff, American travelers and locals come here. Really freshly made pasta as well I recommend going here while in Milano.

This was one of our top choices to experience traditional Milanese food. It's a family owned and Michelin rated restaurant. Definitely the right choice. Great food, great atmosphere, great wine list. The family owned flavor came through repeatedly. Risotto salto was on our must try list of Milanese foods - a saffron flavored crusted pancake with lots of butter. Interesting, but now on the been-there, done-that list. Next was another traditional dish, cacio pepe. Its a simple dish of pasta, black pepper, and Pecorino Romano cheese. Really delicious. Then a cotoletta Milanese, basically a real tender veal cutlet. Large and tasty. All with a great bottle of Friulano wine. All perfectly presented and naturally flavored. Finished with tiramisu and coffee.

Found this place on an internet search since we liked the menu and it was within walking distance from our Airbnb. An impressive introduction to dining in Milan on our first evening here! Comfortable, cozy atmosphere with understated but attentive service. We were seated upstairs, which was very comfortable on an extremely hot and humid evening. Our server offered helpful recommendations and explanations. The cacio e pepe and mini beef ravioli were fresh, hot and delicious, as were the steamed green vegetables. A reasonably priced bottle of wine complemented our meal. Highly recommend!

Warm environment with traditional fittings and furnitures. Good and varied menu proposals based on Italian regional cuisine with also some innovative touch. The wine list satisfies all tastes and can be managed according to individual budgets. Overall deserves the 5 stars with attention point: the handwritten menu is unreadable even for native.

Our best dinner in Milan! The ragu pasta was delicious, the beef tartare was very high quality, and the grilled octopus was amazing. The waiters were also friendly. Great place overall.

The restaurant is friendly to locals as well as tourists. We had dinner here on friday night, and had a great time. Restaurant is very romantic... such an old space, steeped in history. The main dining area is upstairs.... and we were seated right away. The menu is in italian and english.. and the staff was very helpful in customizing our order. We had a nice salad to start with and for the main course, we ordered the stuffed chicken dish, and my wife order the pasta with the meat sauce, along with a glass of wine. Meal was perfect, and the restaurant is very warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend the restaurant when you are in Milan.

Brilliant Italian food and great cozy atmosphere. Came here with coworkers after a long day of work and was not disappointed. Whether it's the tomahawk steak, or veal with tuna (pictured) or truffle pasta, all of it was fantastic. I would highly recommend for a casual dinner with friends or a special occasion.

Good wine, friendly service, fine food. The person who complained about the prices is right... this cost more than Burger King & McDonald's. The food is great and reasonable. The service is European leisurely, helpful& friendly. The Veal Chop Milanese is too big for me and fabulous!

This is homemade Italian food at its best! The dishes are generous and flavorful and the staff is very friendly. They are rather busy so it is best to make reservations

Elegant place for a quiet lunch in Brera with the most wonderful saffron risotto cakes.

I want to give this place the full 5 stars, because the food is very good and the ambience is quite nice. But I felt I had to take a one off for the poor service. Too bad. But I would definitely consider returning. Maybe it was just an off night for our waitress...

Absolutely the worst service we experienced in Italy. Never had imagined a bad service could destroy every positive impression on a restaurant until this one. Can't recall anything nice about their food although I do remember their Michellin stamps on the window. How ironic. We went in for lunch and the waitress didn't serve us the bread set which is covered in the obligatory "coperta". But all other tables (even the empty ones) had bread set. This kind of "neglect" never happened to us ever in Italy and we probably visited more than 20 restaurants. We can't help wonder if this neglect was rather intentional discrimination. If you have one of the following features, I strongly advice you not to go to this one: young, Asian, not wearing any fancy (or expensive?) outfits or accessories, appearing like tourists.

Friendly to locals and tourists. Wonderful veal Milanese although it's giant! Great al dente pasta and believe it or not, amazing sautéed veggies. Highly recommend.
