Rocklands Bird Sanctuary (Montego Bay)

A bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip. Very unique experience to hand feed the four different hummingbird species. Awesome views of Montego Bay as well. We drove ourselves and I suggest using Google Maps to navigate there as there's not much for signage.

A visit to this bird sanctuary is truly an unforgettable experience! Hand-feeding hummingbirds and little finches was magical, and seeing two Jamaican owls up close was incredible. The peaceful atmosphere and the chance to connect with these beautiful creatures made it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Highly recommend for nature lovers and anyone visiting Montego Bay!

What an amazing experience! We were immersed in a beautiful lush garden landscape surrounded by the spectacular humming birds, finches and owls that live there. Beautiful seating areas provide a comfy spot for guests to sit and interact with the birds. It's so special and really a once in a lifetime experience IMHO. You can stay at the lounge level or go up to the "birds nest" which is a large covered deck & canopy overlooking the bay. With bistro tables and chairs I wish we had prepared to bring a lunch for the el fresco dining area and a glass of wine. Some drinks can be provided for a small fee upon request, but there is no food available. Go venture around the nature path on the property and learn about the original owner. Restrooms are provided in the form of an outhouse on the trail. Plan on not rushing through... take your time. Each person gets a nectar bottle and seed to feed the birds. Be prepared to get a little sticky - there are water faucets available however. If you want something a bit more quiet and interactive this is it! Feel and hear the flutter of their wings. It's a small gem with lots of sparkle. My only cons are: 1) Signage - google maps will get you there but it sure looks like you're going somewhere you shouldn't be. 2) Parking - a bit tight and freelance (no real parking area except in driveway - can only fit 3 vehicles. No fees though). Group size - 8 Visit - Monday afternoon. Time Spent - 2 hours Price - $25 USD or $3750 JMD per person. CASH ONLY Staff - Kind, knowledgable & very relaxed. They were not pushy, they made it a peaceful, comfortable and inviting environment. We were greeted upon arrival.

Awonderful, relaxing hidden gem in Jamaica. There are plenty of birds to see, over 16 kinds, and they help you get to see several types of hummingbirds. The hummingbirds will perch on your finger as you feed them sugarwater. All around are finches, doves, orioles, and we even caught an Owl sleeping. The sky view is picturesque, and our guide was helpful at naming all the types of birds and flora. Highly recommend! To know in advance- Steps and a path. Would be hard or a no for wheelchairs unless you can walk some rock path steps. There is a very clean restroom at the bottom of steps. We had a great time. And would go again.

Such a fun and unique experience. While there may be a few sketchy roads to take up to the top of the mountain, the view is stunning and worth every minute and dollar. Plus the personal interaction with all the hummingbirds is unlike anything else. If you are a bird lover and in Jamaica, you need to check this place out. Beautiful place. Not all tourists want to see caged animals and drink shots. We much prefer an attraction where the animals are free and living in harmony with the humans. This is the ideal place if you like that kind of thing. Organic, beautiful and the most gorgeous location. Also a cute dog came to say hello to us, & the man who lives there's little daughter was a sweetie!

Loved this experience. Being able to relax in the trees and feed birds was truly an experience I will never forget. Our guide was very laid back and full of knowledge. I learned so much about various plants, trees, bees, and birds. Not to mention the view is breathtaking. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Chris was a great tour guide! This place was peaceful and secluded and great for anyone who wants a relaxing day with nature. It was a special day. There were 10 people total the day we went and one couple got engaged while we were there! It was a great trip I would recommend to anyone visiting the north coast of Jamaica. Word of caution if you are unfamiliar with the roads in Jamaica, I would recommend having a driver or tour bus or a native Jamaican driver take you to this location as the road up the mountain is steep and narrow.
