"Greetings From Austin This south Austin mural located on the corner of Annie and South 1st Street is a popular location for travel photos as well as engagement photos (or just cheesin' out in general). Why not take your photo in front of the mural the next time you find yourself in Austin ? Roadhouse Relics that occupies the building where the mural is painted is a super cool gallery displaying the neon artwork of Todd Sanders and is definitely worth a visit!"

One of the must see places in Austin, and a chance to get a photo in front of the Austin postcard on the side of the building. We went there when they were closed and the owner was very nice and let us in to see some truly great vintage signs and memorabilia. The area has an eclectic group of stores around it, including a cool vintage automotive shop. Not hard to find and definitely worth the time.

Todd Sanders really knows his neon. He creates beautiful neon artwork and his store/ gallery is iconic. Modern vintage. The work shown here is timeless. One day I will own a piece from here (hopefully!)

It would've been a 5 star review, but on the day we went the location was closed. We don't know if it was lunch time or an off day, but we couldn't purchase any memorabilia from here. There were some really cool relics inside a other cool projects being worked inside. On the upside, we were able to take a few photographs of the Austin sized "post card" on the side of the building and that was cool! Overall, we were able to scratch off one of our bucket list items and locations. We will return on a day when the place is open for business and we will then make it a 5 Star review I'm sure.

Google
Very cool retro and neon light art shop. Only open a few hours a day but I definitely recommend stopping in if the shop is open. They sell giant retro art pieces, between $2,000-$25,000, and retro themed apparel and accessories, between $10-$50. Make sure to not take photos of the art pieces they are selling as they really don’t like that. One of the most recognizable, if not most recognizable, Austin themed murals is on the outside of the shop - GREETINGS FROM AUSTIN.

Google
A great place to watch people getting their picture in front of the beautiful and iconic mural. It seems that the whole world stops here for a moment. You can offer to take their picture, and make a friend. Fun.

This is super cool experience. Even if you only get to see the outside it’s definitely worth the trip.

Thanks for the sticker and moving your car so I was able to snap a picture with the Shasta! I'll stop by again. 😎#RollingwiththeShasta

Yelp
We stopped by here for the mural on the wall, however, it started pouring raining so we ended up inside. They didn't seem too happy about that, but we're so glad we ended up in there. They have amazing pieces of art. We spoke with the artist of the mural and loved hearing his stories.

Yelp
I haven't even been in the location yet I don't know if it was open to give a good review. I seen this cool post card mural that was highly creative and very interesting. The problem is the street is a bit busy to grab a photo. It honestly felt like I risked my life and the person that took my photos life to get this shot. Was on my way to check out a park so I wasn't even wearing what I wanted to wear... It's an amazing shot when coming to Austin it is a must but please be careful when getting this photo and fast.

Yelp
For my first trip to Austin, I wasn't sure where to begin exploring, so I decided to start my day at the Greetings From Austin postcard mural. After seeing it though, I noticed it was painted on the way of an art gallery with a lot of curious figures lurking over the backyard fence. Looking in the windows I could see it was a workshop and gallery showcasing neon signs and metalwork. Even though there were no hours on the door I risked wandering in, and for a moment just wandered around wondering if anyone was there. Then, I walked to the backyard and was soon greeted by the artist and owner himself, Todd Sanders, and his sweet Westie, Hank, who was "supposed to be a guard dog". Todd's a very nice and gracious man, he chatted with me the whole time I viewed his gallery, and was completely comfortable with me taking photos and looking around even though I didn't have the means or intention to purchase his art. That said, his art is gorgeous! Really timeless pieces with a lot of personality, and mostly at a very large size. These are meant to be statement pieces, and if I had a house or place large enough to house one, I'd do it! That said, Todd is very accomplished, and has worked in a variety of trades and for awhile was refurbishing older neon signs for people, but says he loved making original pieces and it was his passion, so he put everything else aside and started to focus. And now he's got a successful business and has really famous clients -- one of his signs made up the cover of a Kings of Leon album. Todd was gracious enough to let me take his portrait before a left, and gave me a list of other great curated and creative shops to stop by while I'm in the area. Very cool local artist and biz owner, definitely stop in if you originally only planned to see the mural outside!

Yelp
Pretty sure they were rude to me due to my age. I'm only 25 and was definitely looking for a great staple to take home back to the east coast. Definitely disappointed with the service I received.

Yelp
Neon SignWorks - hand crafted, beautiful and sturdy. RoadHouse Relics is an awesome studio and shop, the owner is a really talented, genuine guy - who also live a few blocks away from me. They use a number of weathering techniques to create faux vintage neon - and the quality of the work is amazing. If you find yourself shopping along south first, stick your head in for a few minutes and look around. If you need some awesome neon for your home or office go see them - you'll be pleased.

Yelp
Retro-neon in the heart of Texas with hand a hand forged studio and an owner as friendly as his works are fantastic. Considered by some to be kitsch or 'faux vintage' but in reality a well crafted amalgam of oldschool signs and modern neon this is the sort of 'pop-art' seen far too infrequently in the craft scene today. Not at all cheap but at the same time not one bit 'common' suffice it to say that this is a must stop on a tour of Texas' capital city.

Yelp
Todd is a true Austin icon, and so is the "Greetings from Austin" mural that he and some other artists painstakingly created years ago. Dozens of people line up most days to take pictures in front of the mural, and he never charges a dime for it! It's a gift to Austin and makes people happy. If you have never visited his gallery, GO SEE IT! It's an amazing space, and the backyard area is this hidden "gem" that no one knows about, even people that grew up in Austin. This is the most unique, cool place I have ever visited and I love going there!

Yelp
wow. lot's of cool vintage-esque neon art. but guess what? they aren't vintage at all. todd just does an awesome job of making them look used and beat up. check out the showroom to see a little bit of austin movie history. you will also find out where those cool austin eateries get their neon from. don't forget to take your picture at the austin mural. it's on the left side of the building. the website takes online orders. sweet.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place and the owner. What a perfect place for Austin. Who ever said that they charge for photos is lying. One of the most creative and inspiring studios I've ever seen. Don't miss it if you are in town.

Sarah T.

Yelp
When I moved to Austin I had an empty apartment and nothing on the walls. Day 2 I had a fabulous neon sign on my wall from Roadhouse Relics. This place is a true Austin original and must see on any visitor lists.

Rod C.

Yelp
I know Todd's family well. Todd has been one who subscribes to giving back to the community of Austin and he is a phenomenal artist who creates joy for people fortunate enough to view his work. He represents what Austin is all about. Sour grapes Carla has it all wrong and should spend more time whacking folks who deserve it not someone of Todd's character and good will.

Dee R.

Yelp
Great artist, but an even greater guy! I've visited the shop numerous times, and each time I've had a great time. I can't wait to go back!

Jen P.

Yelp
Roadhouse Relics and Todd Saunders are one of the great supporters of the arts and Austin! His contributions to the community are numerous, but the mural on the side of the building was just repainted with a host of youngsters and is the most photographed icon of Austin-there for locals, visitors and anyone who wants to enjoy the wonders of our town!!
