"No visit to Chatsworth is complete without a swim in the River Derwent. Wander downstream from the main bridge to make sure you're away from the prying eyes of visitors, then it**'** s an easy stroll down the grass bank into the river. Or, if you feel like making more of a splash, jump in via one of the tree swings."

Beautiful little stretch of river. Good for walk along the river in Matlock which is one of a charming place in Derbyshire. A lot of wildlife around if you’re a nature lover. Be aware if out for dog walk, use dog leads as a lot of farmer sheep around.

Lots of foot paths to take along this river. Just follow your nose, close the gates and enjoy the views.

Lovely river with lots of lovely walks along its length 😀 with bits in the countryside and bits in the city and even through some woodland here and there. It is a nice thing to see and offers a variety of pleasant places to relax or picnic.........

As a river I found it pretty underwhelming, mostly all flat bits no rapids, no majestic waterfalls. The rocks along the side were all pretty monotone, not nice mossy ones like I like. The water was the same colour all along meh...there were a few large boulders in it I suppose its got that going for it if you're into that kind of thing, I suppose there's nobody to blame, it was created by God after all. I would give this river two and a half stars if I could mainly down to the boulders and the fact there there weren't many dead branches in it. Thank god for google letting me leave reviws on rivers as if they're flipping theme parks! Happy camping folks. 🏕

One of the best rivers, it has water flowing... what more can I say; walks by this river are always enjoyable. There are nice walk ways and plenty of greenery... lots of dog walkers. Plenty of anglers can be seen on the river banks...

It's a river, a fairly good one, it's wet, flows in one direction only though, a bit of a shortcoming if it wants to become a sea when it grows up. But it's better than a lake. Why on earth I'm reviewing it I don't know.

The river Derwent is beautiful on its own and passes through some idyllic scenery but it also boasts some beautiful architecture which has and still is being painstakingly restored to its former beauty. You should follow the Derwent valley trail which takes in a lot but would recommend ideally breaking it up in order to make the most of what it's got to offer. Most areas are disabled friendly but if you are might be worth contacting before visiting
