Rhody Surf

My son Jacob had the BEST time with Patrick from Rhody surf at his lesson over the weekend! We can't thank you guys enough for the smile you helped to put on our little man's face! We will definitely be signing up for more lessons during our future vacations to Newport! We highly recommend Rhody surf! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a great experience for the whole family!

We had an excellent private lesson with Rhody Surf! The team was so responsive and helpful when I emailed with questions about whether my 7 year old would be old enough to attend class, and I was so amazed and grateful that they coordinated to have a second instructor present to ease my mind. The instructors were fantastic and explained things so well. Both myself and my son were able to successfully catch some waves! The location was great with ample (complementary) parking. I would definitely do a lesson with Rhody Surf again.

Rhody surf is always on our summer list of activities. The instructors are knowledgeable and fun. The staff are helpful and friendly. Surf camp was a great experience for our kiddos this year!

My surfing lesson that I booked with Rhody Surf was the highlight of my trip with my wife to Rhode Island. My only other experience with surfing was about 50 years ago, so my instructor, Charlie, had a tough assignment. She was more than up for this challenge. After an introduction on surfing fundamentals on the beach, we headed to the water to try to catch some waves. After falling off the board multiple times, my instructor's patience and reinforcement of proper technique finally resulted in success. I was able to pop up and get to my feet! I'm pretty sure that another lesson or two will be needed to stay upright with more consistency. Everyone I met at Rhody's that day was friendly, upbeat and encouraging. The positive vibe I experienced was a great atmosphere for learning how to surf. I highly recommend Rhody Surf to anyone who wants to learn how to surf.

Had a great time with our private surfing lesson. The price was reasonable and the instructor was very nice and knowledgeable. I would recommend doing a bit longer than an hour if it’s your first time and want to get up once. My only criticism is that I wish they took photos. I would have paid a bit more for the keepsake.

My private lesson was better than I could have imagined! Isabella was a patient, and fun instructor who gave me so many helpful tips. I booked the lesson looking to become a better surfer, and after the hour of instruction, I am more excited than ever to keep practicing. I definitely recommend this experience!

Rhody Surf was great! I took a lesson for the first time in over 10 years and it was such a great experience. It was the first time I have ever been able to ride a wave and it was the best experience ever! The instructors were so patient and helpful, giving me great tips on how to adjust on the board. I can't wait to go again. Would recommend to all my friends and family.

Had three great lessons with this crew. Super friendly, knowledgable, and professional. I had never been on a surf board before but was standing on day one. One the first day (2 lessons), my instructor mostly put me on the wave and helped me learn to pop up and ride the wave out. On day two, I knew I wanted to get more independent and the instructor walked me through picking a spot and catching the wave on my own. I feel much more confident that I can head out on my own to get some practice after taking lessons with Rhody.

My husband and I wanted to take our first surf lessons as adults at 34 and 35 years old. We were told that Rhode Island would be a great place to give it a try and I found this location through a google search. Signing up was very easy through their online booking platform. We got all of the details through email and showed up the day of ready to go. Our instructor, Chris, took us through the basics before getting in the water and then we got to have the remainder of the time playing on the waves. He helped us get up on a few and gave us opportunities to do it ourselves too before heading back in. We had a great experience and would recommend anyone looking to give lessons a go to say yes!

Stepped on a board for the very first time with Lance and then a few days later with Travis - Both really patient and fun, and also great teachers! Super fun and the experience is seamless -- All you have to do is show up to the beach and everything else is taken care of. Can't wait to go back!

My daughter had a private lesson with Collin and it couldn't have gone better! He was so nice and taught her a lot. Would definitely like to use them again in the future!

My guys did the surf camp and loved every second of it! The surf was perfect to learn and instructors were kind and very skilled. I'd recommend to anyone thinking about signing up for surf camp, even for the day, that it is a great experience for kids and made vacation that much more memorable.

My 16 yr old daughter has been asking for a surf lesson for a couple years. I wa so psyched to see how thorough and cool the instructor was with her. She stood up on the very first try and is now asking for a board for Christmas. Thank you Rhody Surf! We will be back!

My family just returned from a week in New Port and my sons and there friends spent a morning with Rhody Surf at Surf School. for the 4th year in a row they loved it, the staff is fantastic and the overall experience is great. see you guys next summer.....Jamie

My 15 year old daughter decided she wanted to try surfing. So I booked the lesson online. The process was simple. The day of the lesson we were both a little nervous about how it would turn out since neither of us had ever tried surfing. Our instructor Ryan was excellent. The equipment was great. Beautiful day. Really an amazing experience. We both were able to get up and surf. Loved it. Hope to do it again.

SO STOKED! This past weekend a we took a group of 13 students to Rhody Surf for a large group lesson. The trip was fantastic. All of our students had a great time. The staff was extremely positive and helpful. Each student got individual attention at some point and the staff was very mindful of paying a little extra attention to those who needed it. Prior to the trip Bobby made sure that he would have enough staff to have a great staff-student ratio. He was cognizant of the weather and flexible to make sure that when we got in the water there would be some waves for us to catch. The trip went off without a hitch and it was due to the attention and dedication of the Rhody Surf staff. so psyched to go back!
