10 Postcards
Bask in upscale vibes at this chic rooftop restaurant atop Restoration Hardware, featuring American classics and stunning skyline views amidst crystal chandeliers.
"RH is named for the fancy furniture store it’s on top of, and if you’re unfamiliar with Restoration Hardware, it’s worth coming here just to walk around and check out couches that cost as much as cars. The menu isn’t super exciting, but they deliver a perfect burrata with grilled tomatoes and a great ribeye sandwich. There’s no hard liquor here, which should be your first indication this isn’t a typical rooftop party restaurant. (Your second indication is that RH closes at 9pm.) Still, this is a good option for fun group dinners when you want to get dressed up." - neha talreja, bryan kim, carina finn koeppicus, hannah albertine
"If you want to fully embrace Meatpacking, go to RH Rooftop, an American spot on the roof of Restoration Hardware. Take the all-glass elevator up past five floors of marble statues, fountains, and beds that cost as much as barely used SUVs. Eventually, you’ll reach the walk-in-only restaurant, with its own fountains and trees, and a chandelier over every table. The food is decent, and if you sit down for lunch or dinner, order the creamy burrata and the shaved ribeye sandwich on a garlic bread baguette. A better use of your time might be to just have drinks on the huge outdoor terrace, which has nice views of the downtown skyline and other rooftop bars in the neighborhood." - neha talreja, bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Pretty much everything about RH Rooftop, the American restaurant on the top floor of Restoration Hardware in Meatpacking, is over the top. From the five floors of really expensive furniture below, to the chandeliers over every table in the dining room, this isn’t the kind of place you’d bring a $12 bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc. So while a $50 corkage fee is pretty steep, this is the kind of place where you should open that magnum of Champagne you got as a gift five years ago. Corkage: $50 per bottle (two bottle maximum)." - matt tervooren
"RH is named for the fancy furniture store it’s on top of, and the dining room has a lot of the same decor as store, with marble surfaces, a chandelier over every table, and big windows looking out over downtown Manhattan. The food is from the people behind Au Cheval, and we’re big fans of the shaved ribeye sandwich on a garlic bread baguette. They allow you to carry your drinks in the store, so you can walk around with a mimosa and try to guess how much it would cost to upgrade your life with a giant distressed mirror. "Here’s something you might not know: RH Rooftop is actually from the same person behind 4 Charles. In terms of atmosphere, it isn’t very similar (it’s a rooftop above a fancy furniture store in the Meatpacking District), but it does have a good burger that’s sort of like a distant, slightly less interesting relative of the one at 4 Charles. Considering this place is walk-in only and much easier to get into, it’s worth checking out. Try it the next time you get a new haircut and need a place with a crowd of people who might notice." - bryan kim
