Herbivore by Locavore

A must visit in Ubud. As someone who’s been fortunate to visit a number of Michelin starred restaurants, this felt up there with experiences I’ve had at 2 star ⭐.. it was that good. I’m normally pretty sceptical about veggie only restaurants but this opened our minds to just how good this food can be. Incredibly bold but balanced flavours, stunning presentation and matched with an impressive rice-based alcohol pairing. It’s definitely not the cheapest food you’ll find in Ubud, but it’s a brand new menu that I’d highly recommend if you can make it.

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Herbivore by Locavore in May, and I was blown away by the experience! I opted for the long menu with a non-alcoholic drink pairing, and every dish was a delightful surprise. The creativity in using local ingredients was astounding; the tempeh main was absolutely exquisite, and the desserts were not only delicious but also visually stunning. The atmosphere was inviting—relaxed yet refined, making it the perfect spot to enjoy such amazing food. The staff were warm and welcoming, and it was a nice touch to have the chef come out to present the last dish. His passion for his craft was evident and added a personal touch to the experience. Thank you, Herbivore, for bringing such an interesting cuisine to Ubud. It’s a unique voyage through incredible flavors, all made with local and vegan products—what an admirable challenge! The result is nothing short of mind-blowing. Highly recommended!

Phenomenal dining experience. Dishes made from local sourced plant based ingredients, were flavorful, creative and just gorgeous. This was better than some of the Michelin starred places I’ve tried, so won’t be surprised if they get one soon. Happy to see plant based in such high level of fine dining. Bravo 👏

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Herbivore Ubud, what an amazing vegan restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere, while it’s on a busy street it’s very peaceful inside. It was easily the best food we had in Ubud! I am vegan, so we tried many vegan restaurants during our holiday. For me, the main with the tempeh was the standout. The desserts were also delicious and visually very beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, vegan or not, you won’t be disappointed!

A wonderful vegan experience in the heart of Bali. Loved the pairing options. The service team was very friendly and the chef came to present the last dish. You could feel his passion for his art. Thank you for bringing such an interesting cuisine here so we can celebrate our special occasions with a unique voyage through amazing new flavors. Only local and vegan products is an admirable challenge. The result is mind-blowing. Bravo! Highly recommended.

This has got to be one of the best meals I've had. Neither am I sober nor plant based and the non alcoholic pairing with the degustation highlighted the dishes on another level. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience overall. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive, atmosphere cosy and the food is simply divine. The care, attention and effort is tasted in every morsel. There was even a nice surprise at the end of the meal. Highly recommend!

This is on the pricy side for sure. But if you’re into vegan food and are looking for a fine dining experience, you should definitely give it a try. Every dishes are meticulously crafted and sourced locally. We ordered their 7-course set, and we loved it! 👍🏼👍🏼

After eating some amazing meals at Locavore, and always taking their vegetarian option, I was excited to dine at Locavore’s new incarnation as ‘Herbivore.’ The experience — and the meal was as much an aesthetic performance as a culinary experience — did not disappoint. This was a great evening. Three hours went by in a flash. I loved it as a vegetarian and so did my non-vegetarian guests. There’s lots of good vegan food in Ubud, but this is in a class of its own.
