I've been going to this theater for years, and I have the same complaints as others I've seen here- ghost town vibes, dirty, slow service, long previews, etc. But the screens and sound are good, and we aren't big on concessions anyways, so we continue to pay for our unlimited pass and come about once a week.
Last night, after a long workweek, we decided to see Beetlejuice. I'm a restaurant manager and after a 10 hour day, I wanted to grab a beer before we went in.
When we approached the bar, there were 2 bartenders (a guy and a girl) and a few people waiting. We had a little time, so we were in no real rush. The guy was making a mixed drink for someone and I overheard him complaining about how gross the themed cocktails were- something about "overly sweet corporate swill"- and thought that this guy probably shouldn't be saying things like that in front of guests, but oh well.
A few more minutes went by and people were starting to line up behind us. The male bartender went over to start very slowly making another mixed drink for someone. While he was working, I heard him complaining to another guest that customers are always trying to hurry him because their movie is about to start, saying "yeah buddy, everyone's movie is about to start." This was halfway down the bar and I could hear him. Not super customer service friendly.
After 12 minutes and two drinks, he finally turns around completely frazzled and has no idea who is next. I said "I just want a modelo" and he put his hands up super defensive and was like "ok ok, a modelo" as if I was being nasty. At this point, my goodwill was out the window and I just wanted to get away.
He brings it over, I pay ($13 for a tall boy that costs $5 at the corner store) and as I'm signing, I ask for a cup. I hate drinking out of cans. He says he can't do that due to Regal policy and slaps some placard down in front of me. I simply said "great," as he continued getting all worked up about Regal being a family theater and him being fined $3000 if he gave me a cup. It was absurd, I wasn't pushing him, I was literally signing the credit card slip silently.
To break the tension, my boyfriend joked "what if I paid you the $3000 for the cup?" The bartender got so angry, started talking about losing their liquor license and talking loudly over my boyfriend who was feebly attempting to tell him he was obviously joking. At this point, I quietly said to my boyfriend "let's just go" and we walked away. As we did, I heard the bartender throw my receipt holder on the counter behind him. Apparently, we had been such awful customers, he had to show his disgust with us. From what I saw, I'm sure he complained to the other guests about us when we left.
Really, Regal? This is who you have serving drinks on a Saturday night? I've been in customer service for 27 years and I would never let a guy like him keep his job. So unprofessional, SO SLOW, and quick to anger at your guests. I used to love this theater so much when it was ArcLight. Getting attitude from a bartender for asking for a cup after waiting 12+ minutes for a $13 tall boy was not something I was expecting, but here we are.
I'd say do better, but from the other reviews here, it's clear that you won't.
