"Vienna's City Hall One of Vienna's most notable structures is its stunning Rathaus, or City Hall. Designed by Friedrich von Schmidt between 1872 and 1883, the imposing Gothic structure is the seat of both the mayor and city council, and is also the backdrop for one of the most popular Christmas markets in the city."

We visited the City Hall during the Christmas market, and it was one of the most wonderful Christmas markets we’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere was colorful and lively, filled with festive energy. There were plenty of food stalls offering a variety of delicious treats, along with charming craft shops showcasing unique handmade items. It truly created a magical and memorable experience, a perfect way to enjoy the holiday spirit.

This neoclassical building represents the city of Vienna in such an authentic way; it makes you realize you are in the city where classicism rules over modernism. Hosting local events, markets, shops and much more; this city hall is like no other. Surrounded by so many more Viennese treasures, you really shouldn't miss the opportunity to see this masterpiece.

Vienna City Hall (Rathaus) becomes pure magic during Christmas! The grand façade, already beautiful, is transformed with lights and decorations that make it feel like a winter fairy tale. The famous Rathausplatz Christmas Market adds to the charm, with dozens of stalls offering handcrafted gifts, mulled wine, and delicious treats. The ice skating rink and carousel create a cozy, festive atmosphere perfect for families and couples. Even if you’ve seen other Christmas markets, this one feels special with the stunning backdrop of the City Hall. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Vienna during the holidays!

Vienna City Hall, or the Wiener Rathaus, is a stunning Neo-Gothic building that serves as the seat of the local government. Its tall spire and detailed façade make it one of the most iconic landmarks in Vienna. When I visited, I only saw it from the outside, but it was during the winter season, and the square in front of the City Hall was transformed into an impressive ice skating rink. It wasn’t just any rink—it was large, beautifully set up, and full of lively energy. Definitely a great spot to visit, even if just to enjoy the festive atmosphere around this magnificent building!

We visited during New Year's Eve and it truly was like a fairy tale land. Everything was meticulously made. Prices were about the same everywhere in the city. There were many areas and options for all ages.

Vienna city hall is the town hall of Vienna, Austria, located in the Innere Stadt on the Rathausplatz, off the Ringstrasse. The Gothic Revival building was designed by Friedrich von Schmidt and constructed between 1872 and 1883. It houses the offices of the Mayor of Vienna, as well as the city and state government. It one of most interesting thing in Vienna and one of most beautiful building in Europe

This Neo-Gothic City Hall must be the most beautiful city hall I have ever seen anywhere. The building is outstandingly intricate and looms over a garden where during Christmas time they hold a Christmas Market for the joy of Viennese people and tourists alike.

Yelp
One of the prettiest ratshall I have seen in Austria or in Germany for that matter. It is a city a hall. Our city halls in MI are far inferior to the likes of this place, by leaps and bounds. The steeples at the top makes it appear more like a cathedral than a city hall, but religious or city matters, it's still a beautiful place to conduct either task. The surrounding area is also fun to wander, take a stroll. It is also the base for their Christmas market, should you be lucky enough to come during the holidays at all.

Yelp
Gorgeous City Hall! Historic site. Unfortunately it was closed today but I had to share it's beauty. And it's beautiful Christmas Market. It's so nice to be surrounded by happy people, especially the children lacing their skates to get a first taste of winter. The Market like all markets selling festive Christmas gifts, food, skate rentals and much more. Throughout the week watching Austria prepare for Christmas was a highlight. Hopefully my pictures capture the beauty and the wonder.

Yelp
Rathaus is Vienna's city hall. They also host the most popular Christmas market right around the back. If you're interested in taking a tour of the building, they offer free tours with audio guides in various languages on Wednesdays at 1. The audio tour is basic but getting to see/sit in rooms where certain events took place was pretty cool. Tip - there's probably a max # of people who can join the tour so it's best to get there early.

Yelp
Yay! Wiener Rathaus, you win the money! It is definitely worth noting that tours are free (in German, but audio guides are available). I am also decently certain that you do need a guided tour to get inside, as it is a public building. Some rooms and areas are definitely more I pressing e Than and average, typical city hall. This includes some of the stairways, and the festival hall (at least I think that's what it's called). The whole building is not like that, but then again, this is a city hall, not a museum. If you do not care for city halls, but are a fan of other experiences...the ground floor has tourist information with plenty of maps and information. If you do take the tour, and they do not show you, ask about the old elevator. A really cool thing to experience with the elevator "cars" going in a nonstop circle. Overall, a great building and experience inside and out, start to finish.

Yelp
Was here for a big reception and it was beautiful to scope out the scene, enjoy jazz music and catered buffet. I highly recommend to anyone looking for event space for 250 or more ppl!

Yelp
We visited the area in December, and the building was lit up beautifully, along with a massive christmas tree, and the christmas market right in front. We went to the market a few times during our 3 night stay in vienna... not only to enjoy the atmosphere, and ambiance, but also the mulled wine, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, etc. Area is nice, and well worth a visit, especially in the evening time, and experience the building transform with the lights.

Yelp
Pretty cool place in Vienna with amazing architecture. It's worth going around the Ring road on the tram and getting off here for a few photos. When we visited in August, they were showing free ballets (on a big screen) in this area so we rocked up, plonked ourselves on a couple of seats, enjoyed a ballet and chilled out. All for free. There were loads of food places in the square just outside but we didn't need to eat as we had just finished dinner.

Yelp
The city hall (Rathaus), the tallest and largest structure in Vienna, is more lavishly arrayed outside and inside than any other municipal building in Europe. The exterior of the city hall looks like the headquarters of an impregnable royal fortress. And its lofty spires and domes resemble those of an imperial church. It is jaw-dropping impressive on the outside. Inside, I was awed by the mammoth yet delicately sculptured chandeliers, the series of bold frescoes depicting civic virtues, and the finely wrought wood ceilings laced with gold. The only drawback was that the English audio guide for each room was very brief--only a couple of minutes, whereas the tour guide spent at least 10 minutes delineating the aspects of each chamber, in German, and very loudly, so much so that I had to leave the group and enter another area to be able to hear my audio guide.
