Radisson Collection Hotel, Grand Place Brussels

This is simply a spectacular hotel. Location is perfect and within walking distance to Grand Place, St. Michael’s and Central Station. Every member of staff with whom I interacted was pleasant and helpful. The comforter on the bed was the perfect for feeling cosy and not hot. The pillows likewise were fantastic. No loud fans from heating/cooling unit. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty for the price. The only downfall was I became addicted to the front desk candy! If you are considering this hotel, book it!

The room was very spacious and had a fully stocked mini fridge with drinks and snacks (of course at an extra charge, however it was all decent prices for these items). However, these are the only positives of the stay. Our room was very stuffy and the air con wasn't the best so we were quite uncomfortable during the night. The pillows also were very soft and although they provide 3 for you, it still makes for quite an uncomfortable sleep. Additionally, the hotel is very loud during the night with lots of banging and loud speaking, it is not sound proofed at all so we did not get a full night's sleep for 4 nights in a row. It was also a strange layout as the rooms looked out into the hotel itself, not to the outside so there were no windows and it felt very dark. We also found a cockroach in our room. We told the hotel staff who were apologetic and sent up housekeeping to have a look but the housekeeper tried to blame us and said we could be dirty or eating loads to bring in the cockroach. (I will say however, that the reception staff were lovely and swapped us to a different room). Having said this, the next room we were given was more adequetly stocked up than the previous room, and as we were allowed to check in at 9am (despite check in normally at 3pm) it makes us believe that the first room was not actually ready for us. We also asked the staff for toilet roll which we never received so we ended up buying our own. Overall, not value for money and, despite a few positives, we would not stay again.

I expected more for the price. Minibar is daylight robbery and you cannot touch anything in it because of sensors. Breakfast was excellent. However the scrambled eggs were completely cold, as were the mushrooms. I advise people to order fresh poached eggs. Also didn’t appreciate housekeeping knocking at the door at 9am on a Saturday.

Having to wait until after 3.00 pm to check in is pretty terrible when you’re travelling, you’re tired and just want to rest, but you have to hang around in the lobby for 2 hours. So we tried to get a drink in the bar and were told no alcohol until after 5pm! Wow!! Finally in the room we went to put some drinks and cheese in the fridge, only to discover that they’re going to charge 7.50 Euros PER DAY to use the fridge! WTH??? What a scam! Greedy way to make more money. So after walking around all day and feeling tired wanting to rest, they’re still cleaning rooms at 4.30 in the afternoon. So I get ready for a shower, no towels anywhere to be found, despite us hanging them on the hook to reuse them as per the little sign in the bathroom informing us that if we reuse the towel, they donate water to children in vulnerable countries. I don’t believe they do any of that. So we asked the cleaning person in the hallway for towels, no English, even though we were pointing at the towels on the trolley, we practically had to beg for them. The toilet paper roll was also left nearly empty, and we’re currently waiting for some to be brought to our room. In the morning, when other rooms are having showers, the pipes sound like jack hammers. Great location, room looks nice enough and it’s clean, but 5 star service it is definitely not! Oh and it’s 6 Euros for a water in the fridge that you can’t afford to use. It’s unfortunate that the bad things outweigh the good.

For a Deluxe Double Room price the room is too small and dark, also bathroom needs better clean. Not sound proof.The breakfast is alright, but my poached egg was undercooked and there are fruit flies in the breakfast area everywhere. The only good thing is location and the design of the bar.

From Midi train station, I got a taxi; the price was €15. When I arrived, the staff were extremely helpful and happy to assist. The room was on the 6th floor and was beautiful. It was about a 5-minute walk to the main part of Brussels. If you are staying for a week or a long weekend, it is worth the money spent. If I ever go back, I will stay there. Nice rooms. Large comfortable bed with nice pillows. Bathroom is good with shower and a decent sink. Lots of towels and a nice bathrobe. The breakfast is good but not as great as the best. The breakfast staff is not very attentive when it comes to cleaning off tables so you can expect to find ha half empty breakfast room with all the vacant tables occupied with dirty plates. Good location a few blocks Grand Place, calling it Radisson Grand Place is however stretching it a bit. It is on what could be described as back street, a few minutes away from shops and restaurants.

An awful stay that ruined our trip to Brussels. We will never stay at a Radisson anywhere in the world. We arrive and check in was fine, then get up to our room to see there is only a minibar with sensors in it. We needed the fridge so we asked if they could empty it, they said they could bring us a mini fridge, for 5€ per night. We ask if they could just empty the mini bar to use that, we don't need an additional fridge, they say yes but they'll charge 7.5€ per night. We ask why, they tell us for insurance in case it breaks as they don't actually own the mini bars in the room. We ask them why we should be charged for a amenity listed at booking, they tell us it is our only option and don't elaborate further. When pushed further they openly mocked us for booking a room because of a fridge, which we did. If the room didn't have a fridge, we would not have booked the room, it was crucial to us. We leave for a few hours and come back to ask again, no better. We had to pay because we had items that would go bad that were worth more than the cost of the fridge over a few days. Other than that, we had other issues. We saw they had water downstairs but it was empty. So we asked about it and they said it was 9.5€ for water - absurd. We complained three times about the temperature in the room which was way too warm and the air in the room never turned on, despite what the thermostat said. The last option they gave us was to open the window, which they made us sign a form before they would unlock the window. The window being open didn't help much since it was a window inside, and because of the bar downstairs now it was very slightly cooler, but loud. And lastly, my wife and I came back to the hotel after a long day of walking and she needed a bandage, and they give us one, but only after opening it and peeling off one side of the adhesive strips, so we had to very carefully carry it upstairs with our things and apply it upstairs. TL;DR They will try to squeeze money out of you at every chance, from sensors in the room that automatically charge, to amenities you already paid for, to the most basic necessities. Stay somewhere else and avoid such a cheap hotel.
