Prime 112 is the quintessential Miami Beach steakhouse, vibrant with a lively crowd and renowned for its generous portions of seafood and meat in a chic setting.
"Not unlike iguanas or professional athletes enjoying their offseason, Miami is saturated with sceney steakhouses. But few of them do it better than the city’s original sceney steakhouse: Prime 112. And this institution is still one of Miami’s best places to dress up and spend too much money on steak and dangerously spillable martinis. Prime 112 is a reminder of how Miami used to do see-and-be-seen restaurants, back when reservations had to be made over the phone and celebrities ate in the same dining rooms as civilians." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"There are many places in South Beach trying hard to be fun—and failing at almost every level. While there’s nothing particularly new or trendy about Prime 112, the steakhouse is still one of our favorite places to dress up and eat next to famous people. This place is stuck in 2004—but not in a lame way. Rather, in a way that makes it feel like an uncle who’s committed to a particular decade. There’s complimentary bacon you can enjoy at the bar while you wait for your table, very spillable martinis, and good steaks. Also, NBA players love it here. There’s a good chance you end up waiting in line for the bathroom behind a point guard." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"One of our favorite things to do in South Beach is sit at the Prime 112 bar, have a martini, and enjoy the complimentary bar bacon. Since the early 2000s, this South of Fifth steakhouse has been the place for celebrities (and people who have convinced themselves they are celebrities) in search of a big night out involving steak and a stiff cocktail. The restaurant still has an old-school electricity to it—and its dark dining room, brick pillars, and seared steaks undeniably evoke a martini mood." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"For special occasions, Dwyane Wade prefers the rooftop of Prime 112, as it is romantic at night and holds special memories for him and Gabrielle Union from early in their dating stages." - Olee Fowler
"Prime 112 is a South Beach classic that’s been doing the sceney steakhouse thing long before it was so ubiquitous. This place is a favorite of NBA and NFL players visiting Miami, so there is a chance you’ll sit near a power forward or ESPN talking head. Muscular celebrities aside, the people watching is great and even getting sent to the bar to wait for your table (inevitable if you’re visiting on the weekend) is enjoyable thanks to the free bar bacon. Even if you couldn’t care less about the fact that Shaq is sitting 15 feet away, you will be excited about the perfectly cooked ribeye in the center of the table, surrounded by good steakhouse staples served in hilariously large portions.
