Praia do Porto do Seixal

Had a fun afternoon on the black sand beach. Managed to park ok ( out of season!) Probably struggle if it was summer. Really appreciate the free showers to rinse off. It is very shaded though so can be colder than other beaches.

Black sand beach with a view of waterfalls. Overall, it’s not as big as it appears in some promotional videos and not very clean either (visited in January, so maybe it’s cleaner in the summer months). A nice spot, but definitely not in my top 3 Madeira attractions.

beautiful black sand beach with calm waters, great for swimming or relaxing. The views of the cliffs and surrounding scenery are stunning, and it’s a peaceful spot to spend some time. There are facilities nearby, so it’s convenient as well. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area

A dark sand beautiful beach and not only…stunning view of mountain, waterfalls and Atlantic Ocean. We managed to dip into the ocean even in mid February so this is definitely all season long place that can be enjoyed by everyone. There is also parking lots close by and all the way up to the hill which are free of charge.

The beach was pretty nice with a breathtaking view. I visited off season, however still didn’t manage to beat the crowds - it’s a really popular spot so be prepared. The city is pretty dirty and I also didn’t bump into any nice spots to eat at or to have a coffee. It did have some amazing little natural pools around, so I can definitely recommend that.

Probably the most famous beach and I can see why. It’s really stunning. It has nice soft black sand and a waterfall. It’s definitely worth visiting but be prepared for a lots of tourists. Even in not that great weather it’s crowded but still enjoyable. I recommend visiting even just for a while.

Place that you should never skip on the map of Madeira. Stunning, calm beach, super fine black sand, surrounded by high mountains with breathtaking views. Tip: come here for the sunrise, you’ll thank me later ;)

One of the only natural sand beaches on the island, and the fact that it's very fine black sand, it's a must stop when you're visiting Madeira. Parking can be a challenge, you'll need to take a lengthy walk down to the sand, and the beach can be small and crowded based on the tide, but it's all so worth it. Not many places where you feel playful and like a kid again, but you sure will here. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking as you come out of the water, or just relaxing on the sand. The colors of the ocean colliding with the black sands...is something you won't soon forget.
