Where to Slurp Oysters From the Shell in London

"This pleasant little grill and seafood bar runs at Portobello Road Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Which, to all intents and purposes, means: breakfast oysters. Oysters are sourced from Richard Haward’s Oysters and can be bought either freshly dressed, with toppings that range from nduja and honey to a Thai mignonette, or grilled with Irish churnmaster Abernethy’s black garlic butter and parmesan. The latter is grunt-worthy grub." - Lucas Oakeley

"Don’t be deceived by its West London locale. Notting Hill may be one of the city’s poshest neighborhoods but all that is forgotten when it comes to its outdoor flea market. Portobello Market is mainly known for its impressive collection of antiques but you can also shop for fresh food and score some unbeatable deals on clothing. I walked away with £5 dresses on more than one occasion. To get here, take the Tube to Notting Hill Gate, which is on the District, Circle, and Central lines. By Megan Eileen McDonough"

"Here, a seemingly endless row of stalls is packed with everything from antiques and china to books, furniture, and vintage clothes; in addition, there's a section where you can buy beautiful fresh produce and delicious prepared food. It gets busy on weekends, but squeezing through the crowds on this adorable old street is an essential London experience."

I have visited London so many times in my life and lived in London for 7 years but I'd actually only been here once before. This market is so cool, filled with art, excellent food, original products and so much more. Such a must visit for anyone visiting London.

Google
Portobello Market is a great visit for foodies and shoppers alike. The road is just under 1 mile long and you will find hundreds of antique shops , souvenir shops, clothes shops and many food stalls, restaurants and cafes as well as bars and pubs. Especially Friday to Sunday on good weather days it gets very busy.

A Must-Visit Spot in London! Portobello Road Market is such a fun and vibrant place to explore. There’s a great mix of food, local products, vintage finds, and unique little shops. One of the highlights for me was discovering an interesting vegan bakery – full of creative and delicious options that are hard to find elsewhere. The fresh fruit stands were also impressive – everything looked super fresh and was noticeably cheaper than in supermarkets. It’s a great spot to grab some snacks or ingredients for the week. I love the energy of the area, and there’s always something new to see. I’ll definitely be coming back again – it’s perfect for a relaxed weekend stroll, especially if you enjoy good food and local vibes.

It’s such a lovely street. When I visited on a weekday, it wasn’t too crowded. In the second photo I shared the two pieces I found: a vintage watch and an Italian links charm bracelet. As a memento of leaving the UK, I chose one with a little Union Jack charm. The last photo was taken in a jewelry shop whose name I, unfortunately, forgot—it’s just a little past shop no.141. The owner, an Afghan merchant, struck up a long conversation with me after I told him I was leaving the UK for China that night. He said he often travels to Guangzhou and Chengdu for business, and he showed me all the jewelry in his shop. He even introduced me to his nephews who were helping outside, and they all came to say hello. We had such a pleasant chat that, before I left, he wanted to gift me a piece of jewelry. I told him it was too expensive for me to accept, so in the end he gave me a small ring as a gift, saying it matched my bracelet perfectly. I think I will always remember that day.

Google
Fun spot, but antiques would be a stretch. There are a few shops, but most were simply tourist trap junk. It's still quite an awesome town and fun place to wander.

Google
My 5 stars are not for the products found in Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill, but for the structure, the operation of the market and the fact that it manages to attract daily thousands of visitors, overshadowing museums or many other tourist sites. A very beautiful place, not so much for shopping but to spend your day shopping in romantic Notting Hill

Google
An artistic town with many shops selling crystals; costume jewelry ; handicrafts. Cafes. Wanted to catch the street festival every Sunday and Monday at 3pm however… somehow I didn’t see it happening when I was there on 4th August 3pm… perhaps I’m confused with the schedule. The final missing star was for the street festival.

A very nice and unique market, especially for those who love vintage shops and rare finds. The food options are also diverse and definitely worth trying. It does get very crowded, especially during peak hours, but despite the crowd the overall experience is enjoyable and worth it. I recommend visiting for a different vibe and shopping experienc

Yelp
We loved this market. We went on Saturday, which I believe it is open only on Friday and Saturday. Much less crowded than the Borough Market, which you can barely move through certain sections during peak hours (though great selection). I enjoyed a quiche. My daughters enjoyed strawberries topped with Nutella. We all shared a fish and chips meal from Poppie's which I highly recommend. Probably the best fish and chips we had while in London. There are olive bars and paella and all sorts of amazing foods to enjoy. Also pick up a Notting Hill bookstore linen tote while you are there.

Yelp
Wonderful place to wander. The prices have gone far out of my reach, but we had fun window shopping and chatting with people. There is something for anyone to see and buy.

Yelp
The market is an institution in London and fri - sun is a must visit especially on a nice summer day. Loads of antique and thrift shops as well as merchandise just set up on street table to browse. Towards the end of the market are food stalls selling everything from pizza to Malay and Chinese street food.

Yelp
I could have Spent a whole day in this part of town. The streets are lined with vintage second hand stores and beautiful boutiques from items around the world. Lots of shops and food options. On the weekends, are busier and more vendors set up. The houses are fun colors. Be sure to give yourself time to spend walking all if this area!!

Yelp
While exploring Notting Hill, we decided to stop by the Portobello road market and check out a few of the stores. First off, it is way less crowded/crazy and less touristy than the Camden market, which I very much appreciated. Still, you have lots of stores selling anything from quirky postcards to vintage books to clothes/jewelry/vinyls to antiques and such. There are also a couple of cute book stores with a great selection.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Warning: it is very very crowded during prime weekend hours. Do not go expecting to walk through it quickly. You will likely need to queue for most food stands and the crowds can be overwhelming. With that said, this and Borough Market are my two favourite things to do in London. Borough Market is a foodie's heaven, while Portobello Road has so many cool vintage vendors, oddities, jewellery, and more. The vintage shops are a bit on the pricey side for the most part but you can find some good values here and there. I loved seeing all of the old books, stamps, coins, etc being sold. One booth had old British coins dating back to the late 1800s. There are lots of art sellers too if you need prints for your flat. Really nice vibe. Extra special shout-out to the olive stand. I asked if I could purchase just the brine (I use it for martinis) and the woman gave me a large container for free! It was a small thing but I was touched. Overall a great way to spend an afternoon in a lovely neighbourhood.

Yelp
Always a joy to walk along Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill when I visit. Ample food choices, nice clothing/jewelry being sold, affordable.

Yelp
Saturday has the most things open which was when we went. Expect lots of people. There are a lot of things you will see at multiple stalls. The shops are also open. The stalls are grouped so that all things of one category might be found in a specific area. The farmers market items seemed fresh. There were antiques, clothing, food items, collectibles, Notting Hill themed items and more. One stall had sugarcane juice with lemon or lime flavoring. There were a number of bakery items. There were a couple of crepe stalls. There were stalls and stores with old records, books, or art work. Something for anyone. The road is closed except for cross streets. It's on a hill with a slight slope. There is lots to see including people watching. I was glad to have seen it though didn't find anything I couldn't live without.
google avatar

AJ R.

Yelp
I don't know if I had too high expectations, but I found it underwhelming, in terms of the shopping experience. It was very small and not that much variety. However, there were some good vintage and antique pieces, but you need to be willing to dig through the stalls. Prices weren't super enticing, but I didn't get the vibe that you could bargain. The food stands, on the other hand, blew my mind. I wanted to buy something from every stand.

Leslie M.

Yelp
What an amazing place to find unique new and vintage clothes, artisan jewelry, home decor and crafts. Plus there is a hot chocolate shop to die for as well as many restaurants to stop for a bite and /or cocktail, if you are looking for an off the beaten path place to spend an afternoon shopping-this is your market!

Yelp
"Portobello road! Portobello road! Street where the riches of ages are stowed! Anything and everything a chap can unload, is sold off the barrow in Portobello road. You'll find what you want in the Portobello road." If you know the song referenced above (from the Disney movie "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"), you've likely wanted to travel here to search for secret spellbooks hidden amongst the carts and booths. While the real Portobello Road is far less mysterious than its cinematic counterpart, this open-air street marked, and adjacent storefronts, is still somewhat of a Mecca for artists, antique-seekers, bookworms and even the casual souvenir-hunting tourist. And despite its somewhat deceptive namesake, the sprawl of the market extends far beyond its namesake into the side streets, in all directions. The actual street "market" operates only on Saturdays, and like most places in London, it gets thick with people in a pinch, so get their early, and be prepared to wade through a sea of souls to do your shopping. The amount of goods here will be utterly overwhelming, and you could easily spend half a day or more here, particularly if you're on the hunt for something unique, rare or exotic. In the end, I didn't find a book of spells, but I did find a vintage copy of one of my favorite books, "The Great Gatsby", which contains enough magic for me.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
It's a great big market with loads of stalls selling all sorts of things including some great food. It's well known and loads of locals and tourists flock here to check it and reminisce about the movie with Hugh Grant.

Yelp
One of the many fun things to do in London as a tourist is to visit the various markets for souvenirs, browsing, and most importantly, food! We've been to three over the course of a week: Old Spitalfields (4 stars), Borough Market (5 stars), and Portobello Road (3 stars). Of these markets, Portobello resembles a large, outdoor flea market the most, with lots of shopping stands on both sides of Portobello Road. The market includes a Farmer's Market and Green Market. You can access the market from a short walk from Ladbroke Grove Tube Station. The Food Court is all outdoors, and is one of the best parts of the market. You can have cuisine from virtually every country and they give free samples! We enjoyed the Thai Street Food stand with a robust red curry chicken over noodles. They also have a small beer garden with limited seating. Note the market is crowded and the streets are pretty narrow, so not that easy to walk around nor find places to sit and rest. Another major downside is that the market does not have easy access to clean restrooms. I saw a few Porta-Potties near the food court, but you best bet is to head to the Pret a Manger near Ladbroke Grove, buy a coffee, and get the access code to their unisex restroom.

Yelp
The Portobello Road Market was everything I wanted it to be. It's approximately 1/3 "antiques", 1/3 food stalls and 1/3 flea market tat. The stalls are actually pretty well segregated with the antiques but closer to the Notting Hill stop, the tat closer to the Ladbroke stop and the food in the center. The market obviously attracts a shitload of tourists (see: yours truly) so keep a hand on your wallet & don't expect giant bargains. Along the way there are tons of interesting little shops to check out - some focus on antiques, some offer quirky gifts like Pylones or you can check out the many small design & vintage places. Food stalls range wildly - you can get homemade donuts, tasty spring rolls, Ethiopian food and pretty much everything in between. Personally, I have MAJOR regrets about passing up the commemorative Charles & Di wedding mug at just £5. Next time, my precious.
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
Crowded! Why do they let the cars stay parked on the street during the market? it makes no sense. The stalls are great. Lots to see, but get rid of the cars!
google avatar

Bianca B.

Yelp
A paradise for anyone who loves antiques and arts. Street food, street vendors, souvenirs, painting...lot's to do and see in Portobello Road. This is a fabulous place to visit in London. For some reason it gave me a 70s vibe. I just loved it! Stop by the colorful houses in Notting hills for a picture and to take in all the beautiful colors. The stores are pretty small. I was shocked how crowded and small was a store that sells tea cups. I was so scared of breaking something. Can't wait to go back to this unique market.
google avatar

Delilah S.

Yelp
overrated! not sure why this was on every single guide of a first time visit to london, but totally skip-able! my idea of vintage does not line up with the shops here so i was pretty disappointed :/ extremely crowded for what it is. overall, would not recommend.
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
Whether a bargain hunter or just a bargain browser, this is the place for you! Tons of small stores and stalls to peruse: antiques, collectibles, clothing, souvenirs, fruits and veggies, odds-and-ends - you're sure to come across something you'll find irresistable! For my wife, it was the cheap and stunningly delicious fruits (strawberries, peaches, apricots); for one of my daughters, a peignoir; my other daughters, souvenirs for themselves and friends; as for myself, it was just fun to people-watch and take in the scenery. We went early in the week, so didn't experience the market in full swing with the street lined with stalls and packed with shoppers, but it was still quite enjoyable. Although not every single store was open, the crowds were less which made it easier to navigate around and take your time. Bring cash for the small stuff - though many of the vendors take credit cards too.
google avatar

Candace L.

Yelp
AN ABSOLUTE MUST! THE END. Oh and my most sincere apologies to the my bank account for the hit you took, but I just couldn't leave without a couple once in a lifetime vintage treasures that I'll cherish forever! Oh and yea, the food is ridic as well - wander WAY down there to street eats (about 9-12 not to be missed selections) you will NOT be disappointed.
google avatar

Cara M.

Yelp
Such a cute market with loads of choices of authentic cuisine from all over the world. There were also vendors who sell clothes and cute accessories to buy. I got freshly made french fries with British aged cheddar cheese and a creamy pepper sauce. The desserts also looked good.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely place to just wonder around and take everything in. Lots of unique items on offer and plenty to eat and drink. Not your typical market which is great

Yelp
Great street fair with antique, food and of course the Notting Hill book store from the movie. We decided to join the London locals and shop for some rare hard to find antiques. The Portobello Road Market is filled with fascinating stuff from silverwares to rare memorabilia's and vintage goodies. I sure had a great time comparing the similarities and differences between the American antique markets vs. the Brit's. Let's just say, BUYERS BEWARE :) And I will leave the rest for you to decide. I got really lucky coming here because this particular day was sunny and breezy which is very rare for March in London. The fresh cut flowers and fresh fruits were the most attractive. The crowd was pleasant and there were a good mix of locals and tourists coming to this weekly event. It got really crowed by the time we left (around 10:45am). So go there early. And bargain hard. haha. I'd definitely visit here when I visit London. Highly recommend it if you are into vintage antiques and farmers market.

Yelp
Loved.....loved Portobello Market! Had a great time shopping, eating, browsing through the stores!
google avatar

Dara H.

Yelp
This was on my London bucket list and it was just as I imagined. There was everything. The stores were quaint and meticulously kept and the food stalls were overflowing. I wanted to take everything back to America with me- one store owner did offer to ship to us so that was nice. Loved my Blue Door bag, everyone asks me where it came from. Don't miss this when you go to London.
google avatar

Monique L.

Yelp
Must go here!! If you love history, culture, being outdoors, seeing, touching and tasting things and don't mind crazy large crowds (Saturdays) this is the best place to take it all in. My favorites; Blue Door from the Julia Roberts movie Notting Hill, finding an antique pair of sterling silver earrings, eating tradition street food prepared to taste in big drums. There's something for everyone here. Enjoy!
google avatar

Addy C.

Yelp
For me, a case of too high expectations when everyone said we needed to visit this market. I did know it was mostly antiques - hoped I might score something very cool but nothing caught my eye ... expect maybe the silver clawfoot tub soap dishes. Saw lots of antique silverware sets, jewelry, clothes, souvenir shops. For food -- crepes, falafel, churros w/ chocolate, potato-on-stick and fruits/veggies. Maybe there were more fun things to see but we did get there late and saw only one side of the street. Shops close 6pm on Sat night. Our favorite shop was Pylones, a little French gift shop w/ all kind of cute clever gift ideas. We bought several items there. https://www.pylones.com/en/ Nearest tube station is Notting Hill Gate. Nice walk thru the gorgeous Notting Hill neighborhood to get to Portobello market. Closed Sundays.
google avatar

Karen P.

Yelp
Extremely crowded on a Saturday. Get to the middle section and there's some great finds/vendors!
google avatar

Vika S.

Yelp
Portobello Market is literally my favorite thing to do when I get to London. I also recommend that you try to book a hotel or an air Bnb in this area because its absolutely fabulous and you will not be disappointed. I took my best friend here the day after her birthday and she loved it! Just be prepared to drop hella money because some items are expensive. In addition, the shops sell vintage clothing/items from all around the world that you definitely couldn't find anywhere else. Honestly, I prefer to shop here than going to Oxford street or Camden Market because of the quality of the clothing/material. In other words..Just GO! See and explore for yourself. You will not be disappointed. 5 STARS! (See pics below)
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Got to love a good market. And portobello rd is one of the best. Antiques, design, food, clothes and much more. Awesome people watching and a fantastic vibe with music and art everywhere. Not sure how many bargains are to be had but there is not shortage of things to tempt u.
google avatar

Kel P.

Yelp
An extremely long/big market that you should definitely visit! Don't be fooled by the seemingly boring entrances! Once you get pass a street or two you will realise this market has lots to offer and almost look like it never ends! I found the best Viet food I've had in London here!!
google avatar

Marian M.

Yelp
You need to come here during weekends when it all happens. It's the typical market on the neighborhood with antiques, artisans, painters. Tienen que venir durante los fines de semana donde todo sucede. Es el mercado típico del barrio con antigüedades, artesanos y pintores.
google avatar

Adrienne G.

Yelp
Knowing Saturday is *THE DAY* to come to Portobello Market, I made sure I dumped off luggage & immediately headed out for a rainy Saturday visit Walking through a smorgasbord of stands from: Vintage Clothing - PUJ ( people's used junk ) Antiques - PEUJ ( people's expensive used junk ) Jewelry - mass produced, turn your skin green variety Food - breads & cheeses, crepes, sandwiches, hot dogs / brats / sausages, pastries & cakes (to name a few) This is all in addition to the permanent stores that spill out into the street, tempting you to come in & browse I found a cute 1-of-a-kind purse in one if these stores, as well as a scarf & sweater in another store. The stands? Nothing tempted me I actually prefer Spitalfields for their easier-to-maneuver atmosphere & their originals & onsite designers' wares - but then again, I've never been a flea market type of girl.... Inclement weather or not, the place was PACKED & I'm just not into getting pushed & bumped & walked over - so overall assessment is that Notting Hill is a cool neighborhood & I'm a fan of the Portobello Market concept. This might be considered a rite of passage for all London visitors, it's just not the place for me
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Great place to people watch, search for that special find, and spend an afternoon. A huge variety of shops - from maps to clocks, from real antiques to fake antiques, clothing, silver, and on and on. Lots of food stalls that are well laid out and little places to get a bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Living about a 10 minute walk from Portobello Road, I honestly would never be able to express my love in a Yelp review. Portobello Road is famous. People know the song in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. People know of the antique markets. And yes, Hugh Grant in the movie, Notting Hill, helped with the recognition of the name. Saturday is the big day of the market as the other reviews mentioned. If you are alone either running errands or searching for something, put the headphones on. If you are with friends, enjoy looking at anything you could possibly find. In general, be patient. It's crowded. It's a market. My recommendation is to start at the top and work your way down. Stop for cupcakes at Gail's or Hummingbird Bakery. Yes, cliches aside...they are good. Browse the arcades for the antiques that may or may not be antiques. Ladies, the cheap jewelry copies the latest trends; you can't beat that! Take time to visit some of the stores as well. I highly recommend trying every single food being prepared. Even if you can't eat for days, it is so good. It's the experience after all! As a side note, there are several key filming locations for Notting Hill and Love Actually on the street and off the side streets, Google ahead of time for those! If you go earlier in the week, you will still find treasures. Yet, go Saturday for the real experience!

Stanley S.

Yelp
A nice day out even though it was raining. A lot of interesting stalls and shops on this almost 2 mile long run. It is in a nice neighborhood, Notting Hill, which bleeds into a not so nice area (not bad, just not as nice). No heavy handed push to buy stuff, the range of goods runs the gamut. It is a nice stroll with several eateries along the way. Antiques shops line the beginning running more into clothing, trinkets, etc. Some junk shops too selling touristy stuff. Best time to go is Saturday when all the shops are open. We also took a side stop to infamous 27 St. Lukes Mews of Love Actually. A nice early day out with enough time left over to make other stops to visit.
google avatar

Jenny O.

Yelp
Portobello Road Market is one of the loveliest street markets that I have ever been to. It literally has everything that you need for a lazy Saturday, weekend after weekend. There are antiques from china to artwork for any and all shopping needs, including memorabilia to bring back with you if you are visiting. There are street performers to offer sweet music to your ears. There are dozens of food vendors, ranging from paella to sandwiches. My seafood paella (7.5 pounds) had heaps of calamari, shrimp, and mussels. The rice was cooked to perfection and rendered so flavorful and comforting. To top it all off, the market goes on for blocks. I really feel like "the more, the merrier" applies to vendors at a street market because you can never run out of things to taste, see, and admire.
google avatar

Vincent N.

Yelp
This is for German food tent: The ladies chefs may throw some attitude your way, but it's more like the motherly love type attitude. Plus, they are being sarcastic. Get the Schnitzel: battered, fried, and put in a bread. Lather it with sauerkraut to balance the heaviness of the meat. I enjoyed, you probably will to if you can find these awesome ladies!
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
I absolutely loved being on Portobello Road. It's sorta ironic since each time I think of portobello, I cringe because I hate mushrooms! Anyways, on this street, I saw a ton of little stands selling jewelry, tourist souvenirs, hats, toys, etc. Even though I didn't find anything remotely useful here, I do thoroughly enjoy browsing through random nick-nacks and antiques. I also enjoys perusing through the vintage stores along the street. My favorite part of the street were the houses. OMG. I found my future house. Sure, it might cost about £300,000, but I'm sure I can one day afford to live on this beautiful street (I can probably save up enough by the age of 70). The houses are cute and colorful, reminding me of an assortment of skittles. Pepto bismol pink houses, mint green houses, cream houses. My future house is the cream colored house with the hot pink door. LOVE. Portobello Road, this is not the end. I will be back, and you will be mine!
google avatar

Mandy M.

Yelp
I love the eclectic charm of Notting Hill! The colors of the doors and each house uniquely it's own! It is so fun to stroll through the stalls at Portobello Market! Antiques, food stalls and fresh produce! I grabbed a fresh doughnut and browsed through some antiques! I have two regrets from our day at the market: 1. We spent way too long looking in the stores leading up to the market and had to rush through the stalls! 2. I didn't buy the Moroccan Leather Pouf that I loved...life regrets I usually try to spend a day in Notting Hill every time I'm in London!
google avatar

Kasia G.

Yelp
On a beautiful Saturday morning the market was busy when I visited. The crowds made it difficult to shuffle forward or at times stop and admire the merchant goods. However, once you catch the flow of the crowd, it becomes slightly easier to navigate. There is a huge variety of product at the market, from antiques, to artwork, to gorgeous flowers, fresh produce, and mouthwatering prepared multicultural dishes. This makes the market an experience anyone can appreciate. The walk to the market through gorgeous Notting Hill is a pleasant experience on its own. Hint: bring cash
google avatar

Jacqueline K.

Yelp
This was a pretty fun experience when in London. The walk over was already interesting with all of the pastel apartments. Once you get the the market things get interesting. Whether you're in the market for antique lighters, fur coats or old books, there's something for everyone. I was able to get my mom an actual vintage pearl necklace and grabbed a few books for myself.

Robert M.

Yelp
Wow, what can you say but miles of cool stuff you can't possibly take home, because it won't fit in a suitcase. My only gripe for the land of the 20p pee, is insufficient public conveniences. Other than that, it was lovely.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I really enjoy visiting this market. The lovely, quaint and colorful setting of Notting Hill offsets the crowds of people who gather around the road of shops and stands selling everything from antique items like jewelry and monocles to old children's book prints (love!) to figurines to vintage clothes and more. It's large and popular, but can also feel small and intimate - it's actually not overwhelming to walk through (unlike Camden Market), despite all the people. It's a place you'll enjoy more if you take your time, and a good way to get a feel of the neighborhood. This is definitely something to do in London on Saturday mornings, easy to wander around the area and see what catches your eye!
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
The best place to purchase vintage and antique items! I love Portobello Road Market! I try to come here when I'm in London on the weekends. Lots of food stalls and occasional music entertainment. There are so much to see here from English porcelain to Bansky Art. The market goes on for blocks!
google avatar

Becky T.

Yelp
Very interesting market that was not exactly what I expected, but still enjoyable. For expectations, many if the stalls, particularly those with vintage-looking items, were significantly more expensive than I anticipated. I did think that some would be pricey, but all stores seemed to be above my expected threshold (for pictures, boxes, knick knacks, etc.) For food, if you exit the Notting Hill Gate underground stop, keep going several blocks into the market until you see food stalls. We ate at a cafe along the way, since we thought it was just a few stands here or there, but there is a very large food stall area beyond these.

Yelp
We took the #52 bus to the Stanley Gardens stop, which is just around the corner from the beginning (south end) of the Portobello Rd. Market. (Intersection of Portobello Rd. & Chepstow Villas) we walked to the end which was Golborne Rd. We noticed that the farther you walked, some of the prices got cheaper. Just north of the overhead road Westway, once you walk under that road, the food tents are on a side road on the right. At this point, you're not far from the northern end of the market. At the next road you cross (Raddington Rd.) after continuing North from the food tents, this is where the market turned into more of a "yard sale", which my wife loved. Random items on tables, or laying on the street near the table. My wife bought an old English rotary phone. At the Northern end, stop at Cockney's Pie & Mash for lunch. Ask for the brown gravy on the pie (beef). We went on a Friday, but Saturday is the most busy.

Yelp
First of all, Nottinghill is a wonderful neighborhood to visit. This market is a street filled with shops. Very fun to wander and explore on the weekend! We missed the food stalls and stands but the street was still lively with all the shops!

Yelp
Living just off Portobello Rd I thought to write a few tips. However, given the abundance of reviews offering worthwhile and detailed description of the market I am just going to highlight my all time favourites: My mushroom man: This amazing and knowledgeable dude took over the family business of selling mushrooms (his father used to sell mushrooms, his grandfather sold mushrooms.. You know what I'm saying?) For me, he is a mushroom encyclopaedia being very modest about it too always underlining that he is still a novice in the wonderful world of mushrooms. Get amazing quality and good value. The falafel stand (the one closest to coffee plant): this is one of the best falafels I've ever had - especially with grilled aubergine. So delicious, so mouthwatering, so addictive. Yum! I'll make sure to write more to the list, but right now I'm heading out for some falafel!

Yelp
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! While we have farmers markets and fleas markets in America, I have never seen anything like this! I am so glad that we decided to make the trek over to Notting Hill on our last Saturday in London. The market felt like it was miles and miles long. The food was so fresh and looking through all of the antique and new goods was pure joy. AND the setting was amazing. It was so lovely to see so many people out just enjoying the sunshine. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun just walking and browsing.
