My visit to Poros was an unforgettable experience that left me longing to return. The island's beauty is immediately apparent as you approach by ferry, with the sight of the traditional white and blue houses set against the lush green hills and the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Have visited Poros twice now and it’s definitely one of our favourite Greek islands. Very picturesque lovely small Sandy bays and coves, clear seas. Very welcoming locals and lots of good restaurants and bars. We hired bicycles and easily explored lovely beaches and local scenery. Love the climb to the clock tower and views across the island. Easy to reach by fast ferry from Athens and you can easily visit Hydra and Spetses too. Absolutely love Poros.

Poros can be divided into (1) the modern port area, (2) the central section, and (3) the tranquil area. There are ferry connections via the Port, but if arriving by car you will enter Poros through, tight, high sided valley rock walls. As you pass through the gorge, if you want the port you turn right, otherwise straight on takes you to a modern, short, promenade with little shops and cafes at the back. The beach is a shingle one. Walking along the promenade (away from the port) it stops near the river, which is dry during the summer and can be crossed. Once you have crossed the river, you will enter an area of Poros that seems to be lost in time. The shoreline is lined with lovely little tavernas, some with tables on the beach. You can walk up the dry river bed from the beach to the metal bridge, which takes you back into the main square of Poros, where you can find several cafes and shops. There are a couple of lovely bakery shops that are well worth a visit.

Very pretty town, with houses on a hill, many restaurants on the warf, several grocery stores and MANY tourists. The harbour is full of chartered and cruising boats.

Beautiful little island, green and surrounded clear blue waters. It's less popular than many other Greek islands which is part of its charm. However things to do is very limited and beaches are small.

Best island of the Saronics Gulf islands. Explore it on a moped or quad if you can all around, enjoy!

A very peaceful and beautiful island. The ideal choice for family vacation and a very nice choice for a small group of people for a few days. Just two hours away from Athens (by car) and 1 hour+ (by ship) it has everything you need to have a peaceful vacation. Small beaches, nice restaurants, scenic hotels and the prices are very good. Definitely pay a visit for a day or more to admire its beauty!
