My dining experience was exceptional, with a meal that exceeded my expectations. The burgers were juicy and flavorful, really good and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The drinks were also tasty, refreshing, and well presented, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Wow! I'm so glad we came here and it was so nice, we had to come back twice! While at a beach in Hilo a local overheard us discussing where to get dinner and suggested Pineapples Island Fresh Cuisine. I'm so glad she recommended this because our large party of 8 (including a child and a few picky eaters) were all thoroughly impressed with our food! The coconut-crusted fresh catch was phenomenal! The best seafood dish I have ever had! The sauces and flavors paired with everything deliciously! Not to mention the alcoholic drinks were so tasty and beautifully presented as well! And to top it all off, the waitresses were an absolute delight! So personable and friendly! 10/10 will definitely be dining here again next trip to the Big Island!

Honestly the service was great, but food was very underwhelming. Our party got three variations of the Fresh Catch based on the good Google Reviews. The fish was gray, tough, and bland. Served with steamed vegetables, also without seasonings. The Pineapple Pow drink was good, but not something I’d recommend. For a $50 meal I would have expected more- lots of other great restaurants in Hilo!

Recommended place. Made reservation for dinner. We were seated immediately. We waited 5 minutes to get drinks ordered as the restaurant was over 80% capacity. A guitarist was playing for the patrons (too loud for me). Drinks arrived 5 minutes later, and food was ordered at that time. Another 10 minutes, our fare arrived. I had fish and chips. The fish was ahi and was lightly battered. It had a light crunch and had two tartar sauces (one spicy) that paired with the fish. The steak fries were unremarkable. The other meal was a ribeye steak. This steak was cooked perfectly, and the quality of the steak was very good. The vegetable medley was also very good. The garlic mashed potatoes were too heavy on the garlic. Parking is street parking and can be challenging. Meal pricing is fair. The restaurant is open-air seating.

Cocktails are yum esp anything tropical themes. On a nice day it's beautiful, sitting in the open aired restaurant and watching people go about their business.

The pineapple hamburger was the best I have had. It had a great flavor and a combination of ingredients. All the alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks were worth the price. If you are in Hilo, it's a must to stop and eat.

Food is always good. Service is great! The hostess is always very helpful and friendly. Staff is always watching to make sure you have everything you need. The manager is so very nice to everyone.

This place was packed the two times we walked by...so of course we had to stop by and try it ourselves. Ambience is great - live music, outdoor section that's covered, and lively conversations! I know the pineapple no-pow kinda feels touristy but I had to get it anyways. Gotta say, every refreshing and the fresh fruit was a nice touch. Good for consuming with your meal! Seafood pasta - all around tasty. Seafood was fresh - I really liked the shrimp! Pasta was well made and the sauce didn't feel too heavy! Service was very friendly from start to finish, and pricing was very reasonable for the portions! Would come back sometime :) PROS: - great ambiance; live music and outdoor section - good amount of menu and drink options - very friendly service - drink was refreshing, seafood pasta was well portioned and delicious - very reasonable prices CONS: - can get busy all thru the day, get on the waitlist early!

If you want to eat at Pineapples it's probably best to have a reservation but even with one you may have to wait 15-20 minutes as well. The first attempt to dine here we did not have a reservation and we were put on a waiting list and we were told it would be about a 30 to 45 minute wait that ended up turning into one and a half hours when they phoned us, but by then we went over to another restaurant to dine in. Definite must tries here is their Volcano shrimp and a flight of mai tais. The service was great and the atmosphere was louder as its an open air restaurant, they had nice music playing. I ordered the flight of Mai Tais that were very pretty and tasted very good. My favorite was the coconut, followed by the likikoi passionfruit, guava, and last pineapple. For an appetizer, my husband and I shared the volcano shrimp which was absolutely amazing. You get four large jumbo shrimp that are battered in furikake and I believe macadamia nuts. These were excellent. For dinner, I enjoyed the Hilo local plate which consisted of ribs, pork, rice with a topping of white wine butter, slaw, and pineapple salsa. My dish was very flavorful. I was not a fan of the ribs just because it's difficult to eat and very small bites of meat on the bone. The pork bites were excellent and tender with a nice tangy sauce. The rice was amazing with that white wine butter sauce drizzled on top. The flavors that threw me off on this dish were the pineapple salsa along with the slaw. I feel they were too many flavors there that didn't mesh well together on the pallet. It was interesting though. Definitely give pineapples a try! That rice and shrimp were top notch! Yum!

Okay- so the catch of the day really threw me off because I really wanted a fish sandwich and instead I got an ahi sandwich since that was the catch fish of the day. Not the servers fault but I didn't expect a tuna sandwich. That really didn't hit the spot. But she was nice enough to switch it out to fish and chips for me. We got the pineapple drink( whole pineapple) with coconut flavor inside. We were just Stopping into town for a bite before heading back to Kona side. Server 3/5 Food 3/5

We arrived at 9:10 PM and they close at 9:30 PM. Sometimes you don't get great service when a place is trying to close down. Nicole was our server and she was wonderful. Fantastic service!! She really took good care of us even with things starting to be cleaned up. The presentation of the food was amazing!! Everything looked fresh and delicious. They didn't seem to skimp on anything even though they were closing. The food tasted just as good as it looked. We would definitely return here to try different dishes. It was a great little outdoor restaurant with top notch service and food. We really enjoyed our dining experience there. I huge thanks for great service and food!!!

Oh my word!! The best fish and chips ever!! Get the sweet potato fries over the steak fries. The Ono fish was moist, tender and so delicious!! The Cole slaw was really unique and tasty. Poke salad fresh and yummy. Had a wonderful Mai Tai as well, friendly staff, fun atmosphere, nice open air seating.

Superb service and staff. The calamari was so good and fresh. Coconut crusted fresh catch was also very good. Would come back again. I even recommended to my local friend from Hilo, which she doesn't know about this place

Incredible service, HUGE portions, flavorful food. We got there a few minutes before they opened and it was packed. Extensive menu with tons of options for lots of ages and preferences. Delish and would happily go again. Portions: Almost no one could finish the meal and leftovers made another meal of it! It was open air with a nice breeze that some folks in our party found nice and others had to run back to the car for jackets fyi

Every time I visit Hilo, I try to stop by Pineapples. The atmosphere is always inviting, and the food never disappoints. I usually go for the Hilo Local Plate--the Kalbi ribs and BBQ pork are consistently tender and packed with flavor. My buddies like their Mai Tai flight; it's the perfect way to unwind while enjoying the live music. I always hope to see Aunty Ro - she got da musical skills! The outdoor seating is a great touch, especially when the weather is nice. The service is friendly and quick, which keeps me coming back. If you're in Hilo, don't miss out on this place! I'll definitely be back on my next trip!

A wonderful find in Hilo! Well cooked, fresh fish; we loved the daiquiri flight (my husband and I each had different favorite flavors, which was ideal!); and great service. I liked the touches of fresh flowers, live music, and the big open lanai. It was just what we were looking for on the last night of our Hawaii trip! I'd definitely return next time I'm on the Big Island.

I'm not really sure how or why this place has 4.5 stars. Upon walking up on the restaurant the chefs had their back door open to the road. We parked next to it. Along the sidewalk were multiple trash cans full of food waste. Also along with the food waste were multiple cockroaches. These roaches were running rampant and inside the chef area. Located along the floor, a mere foot from the roaches were heads of lettuce and bell peppers. I understand roaches are here on the island but that was the most appalling thing I've ever seen. About 10 ft up the sidewalk was the open restaurant itself. Open to the street. Just steps away from a hundred roaches running where the food is cooked. The chefs saw us and scurried to get rid of the trash. It immediately turned me off from wanting to try this place. I couldn't imagine eating here.

Came in during a busy time - told us the wait time for table was 30 minutes so we put our name and phone number down and walked around Food was really yummy and the fish tasted really fresh - we got the dynamite bowl, Kabocha pumpkin curry, seafood pasta, and the BBQ Kalua Pork Sandwich. Enjoyed all of them Service was friendly, warm and quick - no complaints here Ambiance was an open window facing the town with people walking around with a bar seating - dining seating felt slightly crowded but nothing of annoyance. You will have to find street parking when you get here. I enjoyed it so much I felt inclined to do a review

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the volcanoes national park and the line for a table was out the door! Luckily there was open seating at the bar and we got our order in great time before a huge rush of people arrived. The portions are huge and I couldn't get any of the rice or beans down. I was looking forward to the Mai tai flight but the flavor syrups were just TOO sugary. I should have stayed with just traditional Mai tai. I feel that there aren't a lot of good restaurants on the Hilo side so these guys tend to get overwhelmed. Still, I would recommend

I experienced the worst customer service EVER while trying pineapples for the first time -5/5. Let me start by saying I'm a Hilo native, now living in Seattle. While visiting family, I took our party of 8 here for dinner. We were seated right away but didn't see a server again for another 10 minutes. When someone finally came by, they introduced themselves, and as soon as I opened my mouth she put her hand up and said "Im not ready yet" in the rudest tone possible, and walked away. If not for my mother, I would have walked my family out right away. I then watched as she helped other parties seated after us, even seeing them receive their food before our order was taken. When she finally came back to take our order. We waited nearly 45 minutes before our food came out, and it came out in waves, some didn't receive their food till others were half done with their meal. One of our appetisers never showed up and we had finished eating, when I told the waitress to cancel it, she refused and said it's already been put in. I couldn't believe the audacity, I had to explain to her that we were done eating and the app never arrived, she then said she'd see what she could do and disappeared for another 30 minutes (this whole time we are done eating.) I finally got up and walked to the back and spoke with another waitress who was so nice and apologetic. She got us our bill which I promply paid and left. In total we spent 2+ hours here, and only about 30-45 minutes of that was spent eating and drinking. The rest was spent waiting. Never again will I come here. The older woman we got stuck with needs to be retrained. As far as food and ambiance. The ambiance was great, and open air restaurant with live music 5/5. Food wasnt anything special. It all tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. My other family members said that it used to be better so I'm not sure if it's gone down hill or it was just an off night 2.3/5. But all of it was overshadowed by the horrible service.

Awesome experience and service. We got the pineapple drink n it was really good! My husband ordered bruschetta and i hot dynamite bowl. Both dishes were really fresh and good. The service here was top notch and there was good live music. Highly recommend if you're in the area

My in-laws had been here to eat last time they visited the big island, and they were quite emphatic about eating here again. It was a busy Thursday evening, so we host asked if we were alright with two tables of two each, which were next to one another, rather than wait for a larger table for all four of us. That option worked okay, but we maybe should've chosen to wait. We weren't able to converse hardly at all because of the live performer's music speaker being right next to us... it was quite loud. (I'm not sure if live music is common there, but that combined with the noisy bar patrons behind us and all the TVs playing made for a pretty distracting environment and not as enjoyable as it could be, in my opinion.) The menu had many tasty looking options and I was still quite full from our previous meal that day. I'd actually planned to just get dessert, but I didn't see any desserts on the menu... so my husband and I decided to share a plate. Awkwardly this was not timed alongside his parents' meals, so they were served before us and had actually finished their plates before we even got ours... Though, to be fair, my in-laws eat like vacuum cleaners.) But we really enjoyed the taste of ours once it did arrive! Then after we ate, they asked if we wanted dessert... and I was exasperated because I had no room left in my tummy, when I'd wanted dessert in the first place! :( I did get a pineapple mint julep, which sadly was sooo heavy on the mint I couldn't taste the pineapple... It actually sorta tasted like drinking toothpaste... The waiter was a good-humored guy (I say this because I teased him for spilling an entire glass of water on my father-in-law, LOL.). Bathroom was just fine. Parking is a smidge challenging just because you have to grab a parallel spot along the road nearby, as the establishment doesn't have its own parking. I did like that the place was open-air, rather than enclosed inside.

We stopped by Pineapples Island Fresh Cuisine in Hilo for dinner on our way back from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Awesome patio seating, great service, amazing food, and very reasonable pricing. This was probably my favorite dinner spot during our week on the Big Island! They only have street parking, but there seemed to be plenty of parking in the vicinity when we went. The restaurant isn't very large, so expect to wait for your seat. We arrived at 4:30pm on a Tuesday and they still had a 20 minute wait! We hopped over across the street during our wait to Wilson's shaved ice, which has amazing shaved ice but unfortunately closes at 5pm.

This place is amazing ! We were a big group so it's always tough to find a restaurant where everyone agrees. But every one in the group got something different and it was all delicious !! We ordered the mushrooms for appetizers.

Our family of 3 generations simply loved this sweet Hilo restaurant! The food was fantastic. My kids went crazy for the fancy non alcoholic drink in the pineapple with whipped cream and umbrellas. Terrific service. Live local Hawaiian music. Fun vibe. Highly recommended!

We got there with a group of 11 people so we knew it would be hard to find seating for all of us, but they said that they would put the table together and I let them know that it was okay if we sat separately as well so we could avoid the weight, but we were quoted 20 to 30 minutes. We noticed that happy hour was from 3 to 6 PM at the bar for adults only so a few of us opted to do that while the kids sat at the bench since it is all sort of outdoor seating and we could all see each other. The happy hour pricing was exceptional. The drinks were very strong yet delicious and they were only $7.50 and most of the appetizers were five dollars and they were a good size. I honestly really wanted toeat without my family and get drunk for cheap at the bar. The drinks were super delicious and we ended up getting jalapeño poppers which my brother didn't even leave me any for me to take a picture and my mom took the Kalua pork nachos from me because they were good. The server told us that we couldn't take the food from the bar or from the happy hour drinks back to the table so we had to finish them at the bar. My family and I ended up leaving a little over an hour to be seated so as a form of an apology, they offered us two free desserts. That was very nice of them to do. We ended up having two tables so the adults sat at one table, and the children sat at the other table , we had our orders ready since we had plenty of time to look at the menu. Everyone enjoyed their plate and said it was very flavorful. The customer service was beyond amazing and they even sung happy birthday to my cousin. We all enjoyed the experience. It was very fun and the weather was perfect. It was also very close to everything in Hilo with plenty of free parking.

A wonderful Hawaiian dining experience with our friendly server Jess! The live music made our evening extra special and the food was all great! Great ambiance! The teriyaki flank steak was tender, a combination of garlic and pineapple flavors that wowed the palate! The pineapple burger was a 9/10 because the burger was great, the onion rings we could pass on. Tweaking sauce was a delightful addition to the burger! The hilo loco plate, the pork was tender and there was so much food! The kids kids portions were pretty small and the kids were still hungry but likes their meals, the butter pasta marinara and pesto were a hit! Street parking was easy with no wait for 8, but 10 minutes later there was a long line Get the mai tai flight!!! We will be back! Thanks for a great evening!

Our waitress was amazing, we forgot her name forgive us! She had purple and blue colored hair. She was so bubbly and gave the best recommendations on what to eat here. We had the coconut crusted fresh catch and the Hilo local plate. The fresh catch was very delicious. The coconut oils seeped into the fish which gave it an amazing flavor. We would definitely visit this restaurant again.

We yelped for a place nearby and this one looked good. When we got here it looked familiar. It turns out that we had been here before...FIVE Years ago. So we sat at the bar and ordered a beverage whilst we looked at the menu. It's a covered outdoor patio with a bunch of tables and a bar to sit at. It's on street and there is parking on the street. There was a musician, playing music and singing. He was very good. He sang some Hawaiian music and some Hawaiian versions of some popular songs. We ordered some Buffalo wings to start. When they arrived they were very hot (temperature wise) which is always good. The flavor was very good and they had a nice little crunchiness. Excellent! Then, Happy Hour Hit!!! (3:00p) So we ordered some Onion Rings, and Jalapeño Poppers. A LONG time later, we still had not received our items. The waiter came over finally and we asked about our food. She seemed surprised. She went to the kitchen and came back telling there was a problem with "the printer," and it would be just a few minutes. But it still took a long time again. I would think that if my order got messed up, it would be a PRIORITY, apparently not. So when they finally did arrive , they were hot and tasty. The rings are lightly battered and fried just right. The onions a a little sweet tasting and most delicious. The Poppers are LARGE Jalapeño peppers, stuffed with cheese and there's a spicy remoulade sauce on the top! These are REALLY Good. We ordered another beverage (Kona Big Wave) and another order of wings to finish up. They were, again very good. Overall it would have been a GREAT experience had our order not been a problem. It seemed that the waiter was not aware of our order, and wasn't in our area much during that time. And in this reporter's opinion COULD have been rectified more expeditiously.

Every dish coming out of the kitchen looked like a winner. I got the Hilo Local Plate pictured. Delish! Hubby got the coconut ginger muscles also very tasty. We had fun with Mai tai flight pictured. Longboard bottles of beer was a nice cool down from the warm day. I'd definitely come back here next time we're in Hilo!

Such a fun and lively place to go for dinner. We arrived at 6:30 and it was packed but they squeezed my husband, baby, and I into the last free table. Love the fresh seafood , live music, friendly staff, and extensive non-alcoholic drinks list. We had the ahi tower which was amazing with wonton chips. The French onion soup was savory and came with croutons. The seafood pasta was nice with thick seafood chunks but overloaded with cheese. The fresh catch was ono with a light mango sauce.

The restaurant was a vibe. All the windows were open and there was a live band that played very softly it was enjoyable. The service was amazingggggg! I cannot remember my server's name but she was phenomenal I will update when I find her name! (She is in the video handing us the birthday dessert) The food was tasty! For the appetizer we got the pork nachos - not pictured but it was delicious! The Mai tai was yummy! The meat was flavored! My only complaint was it was pretty fatty! My second rib had only a little bit of meat on it. Other than that great time!

Love this place so much, we ate her 2 times last year when we came and today was the first stop on our vacation! Our server, Brittany was amazing! She was so personal and helpful even though they are short handed and busy. All of our food was delicious and came out quickly I would say the teriyaki steak is my absolute favorite thing! Everything was really enjoyed, but we would probably not order the mushrooms again. They didn't taste bad, just really not what we generally are looking for. My son was very happy with his Nonalcoholic piña colada with Lilikoi, and my daughter got the hot and spicy margarita and said it was delicious. I got a slice of Lilikoi pie, but too full to even try it, but it looks great! The music was good and not too loud, and we were right in front of him. This place is the best, but Brittany made it even more special

We had reservations at Pineapples the afternoon we got into Hilo and it was a great welcome to The Big Island. We had come from Maui and we could tell immediately that this was a more authentic feel. From the interactions with the servers and hostess, you could tell that most of the people were locals. We loved the open air atmosphere and the staff was very helpful and friendly. My husband and I both got flights of cocktails and our server suggested flavors. The cocktails were fun and festive and very tasty! When it came to ordering, I asked the server if he suggested the chicken or the Hilo Local Plate and without hesitation, he said the latter. I'm so glad I asked because it was SO GOOD! It had 2 Korean style Kalbi ribs and slow-cooked BBQ Kalua pork served with Jasmine rice and mango chili slaw topped with Teriyaki glaze, buerre blanc, crispy onions and pineapple salsa. All very fresh and very tasty! We liked the restaurant so much, we were going to stop back in a few days later on our way out of town, but the line was too long. Do yourself a favor and make reservations! Totally worth it!

Charming open air atmosphere. Great food and drink options. Friendly service and vibe . We were fortunate enough to have a ukulele, singer as entertainment on Mother's Day Sunday. The pokey tower was fabulous! Such fresh albacore a little bit spicy served with sushi, rice, cucumbers, cabbage, and tomatoes. Also served with some chips.. this was the star of my night. Our party also enjoyed the fish bowl, the Hawaiian plate and the lemon chicken. The flight of coladas is not to be missed. My flavors were cherry, guava, passion fruit, Awesome desserts.

We walked up and were seated pretty quickly. The open air seating and live music helps remind you of the paradise you are in! All the food and drinks hit the spot after a day in VNP. The prices are pretty reasonable for the fancy dishes they offer.

Food - I got the ahi tower - balance of rice and ahi was perfect. The crispy wontons were a great touch. A touch of spice (mild) was perfect. Very fresh! Would definitely get again. For drinks I got the pineapple pow and it was fine. Worth a try for sure but definitely don't think I can drink more than two since it's more like a smoothie in consistency and can be filling. Would definitely return for more. Service - busy but seated in a timely fashion. Attentive waitress and bartender. Ambiance - open space with mix of tables/bar seating/high tables. Live music is which was nice. Overall very chill. Good for small-medium groups

We loved this restaurant! It's super popular and busy, and we had to wait around 30 minutes for our table to be ready. The seating is all outdoors but since the weather in Hawaii is so nice this was not a problem at all. Our server was super friendly and greeted us warmly, and was very accommodating throughout the night. We got the mai tai sampler which lets you choose 4 flavors - we opted for guava, lychee, hibiscus, and lilikoi. Out of all of them my favorite was the guava, but they were all great! Not too strong. I shared the Hilo local plate with a friend, and they actually separated it into 2 separate plates for us, fully presented. I was not expecting this at all and it was such a pleasant surprise! The portion was still super generous and definitely filled us up. The plate itself was delicious - the galbi was probably some of the best I've had - it was so juicy and tender and well marinated! I also loved the pineapple slaw on the side that was super refreshing. Overall, this was a fantastic place to dine at for our first dinner in Hilo! I would definitely recommend coming to check it out.

I had the Hilo Local Plate Lunch. Delicious!! Kalua Pork is great- served with a sweet bbq like sauce. The Kalbi ribs were amazing; delicious, and a good portion considering I got the "combo plate". Mango Chili Slaw also great. The guitarist/singer was great, the staff great. Heck. Everything was great. But to be honest with you, I think the thing I like the best was just being in a wide open restaurant, where two sides are open to the great outdoors.

Fresh local food. Kind service. Great place in the Hilo town. Loved the Mai Tai. Nice presentation. Great tasting drinks. Food is great. I got the Hilo plate. Consist of local favorites. My favorite was local Kalua pork. Thanks for serving great food. Please add more local favorites.

I've gone to Big Island twice in my life and both times, I've had to go here. This is truly a delight. All the food is amazing and fresh. The staff is amazing and they serve quickly. The restaurant has no windows so it's an open air restaurant. Best to get there early because it does get crowded pretty fast. Parking is along the street.

Solid place to go for a filling meal! For drinks, I got a Pineapple Pow. It was delicious with a good amount of alcohol, definitely would recommend sharing it with a friend. Food wise I shared the Poke Tower and got the Hilo Local Plate. The Poke Tower was delicious and something I would order again. The Hilo Local Plate was a little sweet for me but enjoyed how big the portions are! Great service! We were luckily able to be seated relatively fast without a reservation but would recommend making one during peak hours. There was an artist singing while we ate which was really lovely!

The atmosphere was decent, and the service was okay. However, the waitress's recommendations regarding the food were highly misleading. The food lacked any flavor--we tried the fish tacos, wings, and nachos, and all were atrocious. I am very thankful I did not have to pay. A friend from the area had recommended another establishment that we stopped at first, and I'm livid that we didn't stay there. We decided to come here after seeing the 4.7 rating from over 4,700 reviews and hearing positive comments from some people we met earlier at Pololū Lookout and the Hawaiian Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately, the reviews that couple were misleading. How do you have negative taste?

Amazing atmosphere! I could and will try everything on the menu! FOOD ORGASM!!! Great place to People Watch! Cocktails are Amazing! Owner is so freaking delightful Open Air seating is what we (locals) love to experience!! Mahalo

On a cool, sunny day at 11:30 AM any day of the week, THIS is the place to be!! Surrounded by the history of Hilo town, the culture of all the staff (hostess, waiters, bussers). With the right group of people, or other half, this place can be as fun or intimate as you want! Street parking. Right at the start of the town where everything is walking distance. Food? 'ONO! Taco Thursdays? GREAT! Fish tacos, fried artichoke hearts tacos (my personal favorite), taco salad, ALL are must-have choices. I side-eyed the margharitas too! Great presentation, flavor palate, and affordably priced. Entrees were more than enough for a single person. Leftovers too! Take-out containers and side sauces available. I enjoyed everything on the menu that day? Shoutout to Sandy our waitress. Experienced and took care of us! Lots of aloha, cant beat this place!

Drove through Hilo from Kona for the day and stopped for lunch. Great outdoor seating, which we were sat pretty quickly and the place is pretty busy. Sandy was our server, she is awesome. Great knowledge of the menu. Had the pulled pork sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. Definitely I would recommend eating here when you're in Hilo.

Service was excellent. I went there around 4 pm by myself and there were several groups ahead of me. I asked for a counter seat for one. Despite being busy, I was seated within 15 min. My server Chloe, born and raised in Hilo, was friendly and pleasant. I ordered the signature "Pineapple Pow," a pineapple cocktail served in a hollowed-out pineapple. It was great and no shortage of alcohol there! For my late lunch, I ordered the "seared Ahi over salad." The dressing was mild with just a right amount of vinegar. Ahi was seared perfectly on the outside with the raw meat just underneath! I enjoyed the salad The restaurant is located on a corner and has a laidback island feel. Sides facing the street is open and allow nice breeze to reach the entire restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back!!

Absolutely do love the vibe of this place - the exact opposite of the night before at Moon and Turtle, which felt like a fancy restaurant, this felt like *vacation* (I second others in saying the open-air seating is great, it's covered, but it still feels like you're in the tropics.) Great service start to finish, and yes, obviously we ordered a few drinks as well as food, which all arrived quite quickly (to be fair, we were also sitting at my favorite place to get the best service, and also just in general: the bar. Still, it was pretty packed - they know what they're doing.) My wife had the seafood pasta, which I agreed with her, was ok but not really worth almost $30. My $18 burger (the lava burger, obviously) was totally worth $18, especially paired with their cocktails. Legitimately quite large, high quality burger, and some of the best coleslaw I've had - super fresh, *juicy* tropical coleslaw that still also wasn't too sweet. (I probably wouldn't have been as excited to pay $18 for a burger if they *didn't* also make great cocktails, though.) My wife wasn't in a drinking mood that evening, so tried two of their mocktails - the house lychee lemonade (wonderful), and a citrus/coconut water/coconut cream drink for $8 that I would very much like to try to replicate at home. Funny enough, I was originally expecting to order cocktails off their menu, maybe even try the fancy one they're famous for that's served in a pineapple - right until I learned they had a house lychee lemonade, at which point I just ordered two spiked lychee lemonades (one with a wonderful gold rum for $10, another with a great mezcal for $12). If I didn't live several thousand miles away, though, I'd probably be here pretty often for drinks - they had several I would've wanted to try. Anyway, then we made the entirely *regrettable* decision to also order dessert - turns out their "lilikoi pie", while great, was an absolutely *decadent* rich cheesecake square we didn't really have room for, not the much lighter fluffier dessert we were expecting. Tasty though.

Stopped here for a late "happy hour". The Pineapple POW was iconic and we thoroughly enjoyed the live music! Place was poppin!

10/10!! A must try location in Hilo! I went to Hilo, Hawaii for vacation with my friends. We were just passing by one day, noticed the huge line, and figured we had to try it before we left. So we did! We got in line for an early lunch one day and we were not disappointed! I just wished that I had the stomach to hold more food so that I could try more items! Their food was so good - great presentation and tastes even better than it looks! The items were so fresh too! Service was great! Great ambiance! There was live music when we went. It's a pretty casual spot.

Lively, open air spot in town. Hand made mixed drinks. Mixed drink sampler is a good deal but not super strong. Welcoming staff.

This is one of my favorite places to dine when I'm in Hilo. It is also the perfect place to have drinks & delicious food and watch the annual Merrie Monarch Parade go by. We always bring out of town guests here. The food, drinks, service/hospitality is always excellent. Tonight was no exception. I had the fish (ahi) and chips and the Big Island Onion Soup! IMO the best! They also have live entertainment in the evening! I love that it is usually a year between visits but the staff remembers you and welcomes you like family. Small town Hilo vibes!

So delicious! We ordered the seafood pasta and the Hilo local plate. We also loved that they had the alternative non alcoholic version of their drinks! The Pineapple no pow was delicious! My husband ordered the non alcoholic sweet tea and said it was super good! Definitely would return.

Not sure why this place is so popular. What went well - The location is nice. Corner spot with an open setup and clean bathrooms. - Service was pretty good, our waiter was pretty friendly and checked in on my party. What could have been better - The food. They used whatever fish they had as the catch of the day. The fish in the fish and chips were really dry, and the fries were limp and soggy. - The drinks: The POG in a pineapple is a fun gimmick but otherwise nothing special (got the non alcoholic ver). The cocktail flight (you choose a type of cocktail and then the flavors; I chose pina colada with hibiscus, lychee, pineapple, and lillikoi) was REALLY weak. I didn't taste any alcohol nor feel any alcohol which is unusual for me as a lightweight. Essentially $15 for a bunch of sugar drinks.

Pineapple Island Fresh is worth a stop if you're in the area. They have live music, great food, and was very accommodating with adjusting our reservations time. Street parking only but plenty of available parking. For appetizer, we ordered the ahi poke nachos which was very refreshing and delicious. For dinner, We ordered the fish and chips and local Hawaiian plate. Portion was quite large, might be worth sharing. The pineapple non-alcoholic drink is not worth it.
