This is where you find the Basilica di San Marco and remarkable Museo di San Marco located within the basilica convent. Otherwise, the square itself is fairly small and unremarkable. There is a bronze monument to General Mandfredo Fanti that is worth a quick look-see before or after your visit to the Basilica and Museum. Then time to make way elsewhere. You will encounter numerous other public squares that are more attractive, interesting elsewhere around the city centre.

Beautifully restored after the addition of the Tramvia line. The trees and shrubs enhance the space, and you barely notice trains and buses. People smile while waiting or alighting. Great Design.

Nice square in Florence ...busier with traffic than most. Looked to have a few restaurants and a beautiful church to explore. There is a historical statue in the center of the square and great seating to stop and take a break from walking. Watch traffic when crossing anywhere here..very busy.

This is considered as city center. I was there waiting to go on a tour that never happened, but there are a lot of little restaurants around to grab a quick bite to eat. I later found out that I was close to shops and the sites to see that I could have toured solo.

It right in the city of Florence. A walking distance to all the attractions in Florence and a lot of bus connections too. There is a lot of restaurants to choose from. The museum is magnificent. I will recommend a visit to enjoy the beauty inside the chapel.

Completely underrated Church. Very beautiful and has the remains of St Antonio, Bishop of Florence 560 years ago that you can venerate.

A nice small piazza from the busy areas around. A short distance from the train station, the Duomo and next door to the Accademia Gallery. Therefore it's an usual meeting place for tours. (July 2022)

A lovely busy square bustling with people coming and going. Mostly bus traffic but lots of students and visitors to the museum and church nearby.

Yelp
The Piazza San Marco in Florence is a fairly unimpressive square which is located in the Northern zone of the historic center of the city. However, it was the primary drop off point for the bus line which we arrived at when coming into the city center on a daily basis via public transportation during our week-long visit to Florence in March 2012. The Piazza San Marco has become somewhat of a transit center for several bus lines, and also a place to pick up a taxi when the bus times are inconvenient. Taxis will not stop for you in Florence if you try to hail one in typical American fashion. Rather, Taxis can only be picked up either by phone call (which can be a problem if your US cell phone won't work in Italy, or only where you can pick up wireless service), . . . or alternatively if you know where a Taxi Stand or other regular pickup point like the Piazza San Marco is located. The Piazza San Marco is located near the Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, and its attractions include the Basilica of San Marco, the main offices of the University of Florence and the renowned Academy of Fine Arts of Florence.

Yelp
The only reason I was at this square was because it was the starting place of our Florence Art Walking Tour, and this place is located fairly close to the gallery that houses the famous David Statue. Otherwise it's just a typical Tuscany square, with a church, stature in the middle, pigeons, park benches and some cafes.

Yelp
Piazza San Marco is a very busy place as it is surrounded by roads and you see many cars and buses going by. The Piazza San Marco is located near the Piazza della Santissima Annunziata (a quiet little Piazza). There are some beautiful building surrounding it such as Galleria Dell'Accademia, Basilica Della SS. Anuziata, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Spedale Degli Innocenti. Not much to see but there are few cafes nearby and if you are in the area it's a good place to rest and grab a bite.
