Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is a cherished Greenpoint gem serving up delicious, old-school donuts and breakfast sandwiches since the '50s.
"High chairs: No This 1950s Greenpoint bakery is especially great for kids, and not just because the donuts are delicious. Sit at the counter for a throwback experience—you can check out the seasonal decorations in the windows and talk about the fact that the place is technically part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Worth bragging about at school the next morning.) Peter Pan’s sour cream and apple crumb are our favorites, but rainbow-sprinkle purists won’t be disappointed either." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick
"The Dish: Sour Cream Donut This Greenpoint shop feels like a 1950s time capsule, from the counter seating to the staff's mint-green uniforms. But there's nothing stale about their donuts, figuratively or otherwise. The apple crumb and the red velvet are first-ballot hall of famers, but the sour cream donut in particular is simple perfection. We love the contrast of textures in every bite: the soft, moist interior, the crispy crust, and the sweet (but not too sweet) glaze." - bryan kim, sonal shah, willa moore, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, neha talreja
"Ask anyone who knows their Brooklyn food bonafides where to get the best donuts, and they’ll tell you Peter Pan. If they don’t say Peter Pan, they’ll say Moe’s (more on that below). This Greenpoint spot has been open since the 1950s, and their donuts are old school, but still draw a line that's usually out the door. Order a box (make sure this includes the apple crumb) or sit inside and pair your donut with a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. "Peter Pan is a Greenpoint institution where servers wear teal and pink, the doughnuts are laughably inexpensive, and there are always a few regulars perched at the counter. The red velvet doughnuts are commendable, but the best options are even simpler. Go for the pillowy honey dip, or the craggy sour cream cake doughnut." - Eater Staff
"Peter Pan is located on a bustling stretch of Manhattan Avenue, and is the benchmark of quality donuts. This Polish owned bakery offers a huge variety of freshly baked donuts, bagels, and bialys every morning, but don’t be too late or everything will be gone. While many people claim they know of the ‘best donut in town’, Peter Pan is a serious contender for the title. They are incredible. Not only that, but they are ridiculously well priced. Don't be late or they'll all be gone." - Milkshake
