On the Grid : Memorial Park

"If you just finished your breakfast at Marston's, and need to walk off the french toast, take a stroll around Memorial Park. In the summer there is a free outdoor concert series. Check the calendar to see what is playing, pack a picnic, bring the kids, and a few bottles of wine (in brown paper bags) and settle in for a lovely evening!" - OSSO

This is a nice park down the street a bit from Pasadena City Hall. It's on the smaller side but does have nice walkways around the perimeter. It also houses what remains of the Pasadena City library and has several monuments commemorating those who have served in the military. Ironically, what I enjoyed the most was seeing woodpeckers pecking inssessantly at the tall palm trees along the street. I wonder if there will be any trees left of they keep doing their thing. 🤣

This park has never changed, even compared to when I was growing up. It has always been one of the worst parks in the area, especially since it’s located in Downtown Pasadena. There are many homeless people and individuals with mental health issues wandering around, and there are no clean restrooms. The city has neglected this park for decades. Even during the day, the park can be dangerous, as some individuals with mental illness may act aggressively for no reason. I highly recommend avoiding this park for picnics or recreation. It’s also disappointing that the open colosseum, where free concerts used to be held, is now abandoned and falling apart. The City of Pasadena has failed to invest in resources or programs to help the homeless population access shelters and support.

The Pasadena Memorial Park looks a bit abandoned and could use some more maintenance in general. The grass needs tending in some sections and some areas feel neglected, but it’s still a quiet spot for a break in the city next to the metro station.

Lovely small park. I do see more homeless people than the pasadena’s Central Park but they are quiet and mind their own business. Pretty clean and well maintained. There is an outdoor concert area and a nice playground for kids (5-12).

Beautiful green space near old town Pasadena and by the Golden Line light rail station. There isn't a lot of facilities here besides a playground. The outdoor auditorium is a nice place for people to gather and host some events. There are a few homeless people around when I visited the park.

This is an impressive urban park. Whoever designed this park deserves an award, and whoever cleans and maintains it deserves a raise. It's got a little bit of everything and then some. All the standard amenities, public restroom, playground, paved walking paths, benches, grassy lawns and shade trees. Additionally, there is a nice veterans memorial statue near the center of the park. There is also an amphitheater with a combination of benches and grass in front where free concerts are played in the summer. The park is right next to a Gold Line rail station and has bus stops on the street beside it. It's a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in Old Town. If you are spending the day in Old Town I recommend taking a break to relax and recharge in Memorial Park. Update/Disclaimer: My wife visited this park today and reported that the bathroom was in really poor condition. Almost unusable due to trash in the toilets. So, no guarantee that the bathroom will be in good condition.

Very clean Platform haven't seen any homeless since I've been getting off at this station and very well protected from sun cold and rain that's for sure ☺️☺️

A (Blue line rail) Metro platform area. Park is small but a good benchmark. Walking distance to Old Pasadena. Dining walking distance. Can walk to the Rose Bowl 40 mins. Or meet at a shuttle area just a few blocks west.
