On the Grid : Panta Rhei

"Panta Rhei is basically heaven for bibliophiles and lovers of the visual arts. Since the year 2000, it has sold an enormous selection of books on design, art, photography, fashion, and more. It also happens to house a gallery where they regularly put on exhibitions, a publishing house, and a pair of adorable pet dogs." - Half & Twice

"This crowded bookshop specializes in the visual arts—you can rely on them to carry publications from recent exhibitions or monographs from living artists, shelved alongside books on graphic design, marketing, art, and fashion. The emphasis on visuals is well complemented by the in-house gallery, which shows different works by Spanish illustrators every few months. It won't come as a surprise that the children's section is stocked with some of the most stunning kids books we've ever seen. "

In few words | One of the best bookstores in Madrid. Stylish and full of quality books and graphic novels. Staff is extra nice!!! Also great for literature gifting. You will also find Illustration books, books for kids and "alternative reading" that you won't find in a conventional bookstore.

Favorite design and creative book store in Madrid! The staff is incredibly friendly every time I go in! If they don’t have the book you’re looking for they can even try and order you a copy! I’ve been able to get books in both English and Spanish.

Yelp
I've been a reader and writer for, well, many years, and hands down this is the best book store I have ever been to, anywhere. They have the most unusual, worthwhile, amazing books--not only in the bindings and illustrations, but in the subject matter, rareity, etc. I picked up an illustrated guide to 19th century illnesses, it is gorgeous, three chapbook style poetry books of "micro poems" in Spanish that are hilarious and irreverent (probably my two favorite descriptors in life), and an amazing illustrated copy of Alessandro Baricco's "Silk" in Spanish (Seda). Incredible. It made my trip to Madrid completely worthwhile. Another worthwhile mention is the graphic novel style biography of Egon Schiele I spotted!

Yelp
Great bookshop with an extremely well edited selection of books in both English and Spanish. The focus is on art and design. I visited several times on my trip and found something new each time. Highly recommended.
