Solid 4. Had a fun Saturday night with friends at this Mexican restaurant on Hermosa beaches boardwalk which was very busy and happening on Saturday. We sat outside in a semi booth with a fire pit which was very nice and cozy. The weather was great. The service was also great. We had their ceviche trio and guacamole for appetizers. They were great tasting but the ceviches was too small for all of us to get a good taste. I ordered the carnitas which the server also recommended. Unlike other places the meat is not shredded but rather is in pieces. It was good but as expected there were a few chucks of fat. It was a great deal at $28. My wife got the tostado which was huge. Overall the food was great. The ambiance is good too as long as you don’t mind the heavy rock music sound coming from across the street. This is quite a bit different than the Palmilla in Newport Beach which is more romantic.

Nice location with some live music from another joint across the walkway. The food was good, I really enjoyed the homemade tortilla, ceviche, and plantain chips really stood out for us. Had no complaints and would visit again.

The Food is fresh and very flavorful, great location close to the beach and weather is fantastic in September. The shrimp and crab enchiladas are so delicious 😋😋😋😋😋. That fried ice cream oh yes I want more. Keep up the great cooking.

The best part of the spot is the vibe. I love the fusion take on Mexican cuisine and all the fresh ingredients. They also have some very interesting and fun cocktails. It's cute and cozy. We did not sit by the fire pit in the front, but I'd love to do that next time. The staff was the star of the show. We asked our waiters to choose our dishes for us and they did not disappoint.

Amazing location fantastic vibes. We got a table without a reservation. Food was tasty. They do get really busy in summer month and during weekends. Would recommend a reservation.

Got seated right away without any reservation. The place was so packed, the waiters could barely get through to bring food. That was the only downside though. The food was very affordable and fulfilling in my opinion. I got the steam tacos, and the tasted amazing. I know this is mainly an alcoholic drink place, but they should try to work on their non-alcoholic beverages as well. Other than that, I had a good experience.

Yummy! It’s right by hermosa beach. Great veggitarian options. We ordered veggie tacos and vegan enchiladas. Drinks looked good but we didn’t order any.

I got there just before the dinner rush. The outside tables were filling up, and the bar was full. Great Service. The most amazing food. They gave complimentary homemade flour tortillas, butter, red salsa, and green avocado salsa. Wow best tortillas I ever had. Then finish off with the three most flavorful De Filet Mignon Tacos that just melted in my mouth. The meat is very tender, and the flavors are like a bite of heaven with every bite. JD the GM runs the place very well.

Geesh, where do I start!! This was probably the BEST birthday I have ever had. My heart is so full of gratitude. First and foremost Austin took EXCELLENT care of us. His service, attention to detail, drinks and organization are top notch. JD, the GM, is the man! His enthusiasm is infectious and you can tell he has a deep passion for hospitality. Abbey and Corey up at the main bar will give you the best service you've ever experienced. The food was delicious! Filet mignon, appetizers that ranged from fresh made guacamole, queso fandido, YUM!!! Don't forget to add the chorizo to the queso. All their drinks have fresh made juices and hand muddled to your specifications. I chose the cucumber, cilantro, mezcal margarita with the tajin rim and WOW! Thank you again Palmilla and their amazing staff. You're the BEST!

Keep in mind when reading my review, we went on a Saturday @ 11am. Food: you get complimentary (warm) tortillas that are very good. They also come with hot salsa, honey cinnamon butter and avocado salsa. I ordered the pollo asado, while my wife ordered the papas raja hash with short rib. My tacos were good - however, if you don't eat them quick the sauce will make the tortilla really soggy/ it'll rip apart. That said, the taquitos we ordered for our son were really good (super crispy with braised short rib). My wife's hash she said was also amazing and a perfect mix of savory and "fresh" due to the avocado. It's also a pretty big portion where she was able to only eat half since it's so dense. Service: quick, friendly service. Once again, we went early so your mileage may vary depending when you come. That said, no reservations were necessary. Ambiance: definitely a fun looking spot. We've seen it on the pier before and it always seems to be lively and they have a nice outside patio. All in all a good spot, with more than fair prices, that we would be definitely happy returning back.

I love Palmilla! A beautifully decorated, super fun vibe! We ordered the ceviche, short rib taquitos and steak tacos. The food and cocktails were just as delightful as the service we received from the bartender, Jenna. She was funny, SOOOOOOO cute and super fast behind the bar. The only downside is she's a Ravens fan. Other than that, she and the rest staff were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. 12/10 def recommend!!

Yummy elevated Mexican food! The patio on Pier Avenue is wonderful with comfy booths. The salsas were amazing the fresh flour tortillas were warm and delicious. The tacos and verde enchiladas were perfection. Yummy margaritas!! Some of the best Mexican out there. Pricey, but worth it!

I love this place just as much as I love their sister company, Escalante Cantina! I stopped by around 6:30 to pick up a to-go order of my favorites: the chicken suizas enchiladas and shrimp taquitos. While I waited, I treated myself to a passionfruit lemon drop. The bartender was incredibly engaging--truly the life of the party. It was a nice crowd, and with food this good, you really don't need much else. I've added some pictures for you to check out. I highly recommend visiting this spot. It's conveniently located right off the pier, with the water just steps away. Great food, lively vibes--you can't go wrong!

Hey Guys.... Went to Palmilla in Hermosa Beach and had the best short rib tacos..... and our server Ryan was so helpful in helping me to choose my meal.... As everything on the menu look delicious. Strongly recommend Palmilla, the decor was pleasing, the margaritas were excellent and if you snag Ryan as your server you will be not be disappointed!

Outstanding brunch menu, fast service, and fun atmosphere. There's a drink and bread cart that goes around that you can add on to your order. I will definitely be back.

our server was great very friendly. Gave some suggestions when we asked. I Came here with a group of friends. we each order something and a pancake dish to share. Everything was very delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly not dry or overcooked.. You can taste the flavor and sauce on it. The French toast and pancakes were delicious. Not overly sweet, but just right and moist. The small pan had the most delicious sauces for it. It went really well with the chorizo and eggs underneath. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we came so we were seated to our table right away. The table comes with complimentary bread and sauce.

I've always wanted to try this place and we finally went on Thanksgiving. We sat inside and they started us off with complimentary tortillas with salsas and honey butter. The tortillas were hot/fresh and I had to stop myself from filling up on them. I got a margarita which was great and then we shared short rib taquitos and I had the shrimp enchiladas. I really enjoyed the taquitos and my enchiladas were good but the cheese sauce inside was rather salty and so were the rice and beans. I had a bite of the chicken tacos and those were very good and not overly salty/saucy. Overall, they had good drinks, decent food, portions and excellent service.

Came for a special dinner - ambience is nice, it's a smaller restaurant. We got guacamole, veggie tacos and enchiladas. Here are my ratings - Guacamole- standard guacamole, nothing special but good (4/5) - Veggie Tacos - these were decent, the spicy sauce on top is delicious (4/5) - Veggie Enchiladas - these were average, nothing special; vegan meat was chewy and tasted weird Overall, this is a nice spot but not the place for authentic tasting mexican food. Would come back perhaps for drinks but looking for a more authentic tasting restaurant in the area next time.

New favorite spot for my wife and I after catching a sunset in Hermosa! The food is delicious with high quality ingredients. The fresh tortillas and their house butter is the best starter! The tortillas are like roti style so they're a little thicker than usual. The nachos came out piping hot and the shrimp and Dungeness crab were tasty and fresh. The enchiladas were cooked perfectly and the rice and beans were very flavorful! Will definitely be back to try other dishes!

Took my parents here a few months ago and while our server was incredibly rude and ignored our table (maybe because we had a baby?), our busboy Bryson (he told us the spelling but I can't remember if that's right ) helped us so much and took great care of my family and I. He went and got us the appetizer tortillas since our waiter didn't get them for us, got us additional toppings when our dishes were a little dry, and was always checking up on us like a real waiter should. We hope to go back soon and this time see Bryson promoted to a waiter instead of a busboy! Thanks again! Without Bryson we may not have enjoyed Palmilla as much.

Lovely place. Was seated right away. Seemed very fast paced. It was nice atmosphere. I'll have to say the food was decent. Not going to say over the top but flavorful. The service was okay. The server seemed more occupied with getting in order in than actually engaging or giving suggestions. He was nice just no personality. I'll say the drinks were delicious. Loved the mezcal cocktail. Food was good. I would go back just to taste other food items and drinks. The tortillas with the salsa and cream, delicious.

Palmilla undeniably has some of the best vegetarian tacos that I've ever had, beans and rice included. Their plantain chips, fresh tortilla starter and margaritas are also exceptional. Besides the wet vegetarian burrito, any dishes that include fresh cheese comes cold and not melted. Generally, I don't want cold shreds of cheese in my Mexican food. That considered, the vegetarian dishes that I usually get are incredible!

Every time I come here, I wonder to myself why I don't come more often. Food is always tasty. I am not a vegan, but I love their vegan options. I dream of the tortillas here. Service never disappoints. Great location right on the plaza area. My favorite spot to sit is outside for people watching and other views. The inside decor inspires me. One of my favorite places in Hermosa!

First off, I'd like to admonish reviewers who use the words awesome or amazing as descriptors in their reviews. These words have become meaningless at this point, and indicate a poor vocabulary on the part of the reviewer. Now to the review. While the food is certainly quite tasty, and portions very big, there are issues with this place that should be mentioned that caused the lower rating. The noise level coming from the restaurant with the waiters and staff yelling was off-putting. There is a noticeable stink coming from the restrooms that the inside tables can smell. Best to sit outside. The inside benches are comfortable with soft back cushions. Cocktails are quite good, and unique in their appearance. The enchiladas were very nice to look at, and plentiful in terms of portion size. Disappointing in flavor due to a lack of onions in the sauce Ranchera Pollo is a great choice, and the cup of corn is quite tasty. Rice is so-so in taste, but the chicken is excellent. The burrito is also above average. Detractions such as the constant noise caused by the noisy staff and the bathroom smell were factors that led to the three star rating. Decor is interesting but strange. Our waiter was a real professional, and knowledgeable as to menu items and their preparation.

Although this is located in a busy touristy area, the food is fantastic and I thought it was reasonably priced. I had a smoky margarita that was $15 but it was very good for dinner. I had the Chile Relleno with the short rib enchilada for $19 I thought that was worth every penny. The chile Relleno was especially delicious. Service was OK. They don't do separate checks. Sitting outside was a nice touch. I definitely would go back here.

In the mood for Birthday Margaritas with great Mexican food and this restaurant did not disappoint! Ryan helped with decisions (amazing short rib tacos which he recommended) and the best margaritas in town! Ryan made our celebration so fun and I will definitely ask for him next time and trust me, there will be many next times!

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint! They were very accommodating from the second we arrived and our server, Peter, was phenomenal. The cocktails were unique and amazing, particularly the Clara Piña Colada. The food was so delicious and the ambiance was magical!

This place was absolutely amazing. The service and the food were incredible! We had the short rib taquitos to start off, lobster tacos and the short rib salad. Everything was tasty and delicious. We were seated by the bar area and there were some obnoxiously loud people who seemed to be on their first outing after being caged in for a decade. It wasn't a huge deal, but it would've been nice to not have a bunch of drunks screaming and laughing like dying hyenas a few steps away from you. Aside from that we had great time.

I chose this place for my 31st birthday celebration, saw amazing reviews and thought I'd give it a try. I loved the fact that it was right near the beach, and it was a nice summery day. First things first, I do appreciate that they were able to squeeze me in for reservations and gave me the option to eat inside or outside. I chose to eat inside, but when I got there for my reservations they sat me outside. And the table that was chosen didn't look clean or appealing and it was in the corner right by the hostess. Very tight space that was chosen, and it was extremely busy so it was pretty tight restaurant and night to dine to even begin with. We waited for at least 25 minutes for our waiter to finally pay us any type of attention after he walked past our table and looked at our group more than once. We got served the very delicious homemade tortillas and salsa, just know the first round of tortillas are free and then after you are charged $3.00 for more. We ended up moving because of how tight the space was, luckily there was a table that opened up that they were nice enough to let us move. And I felt so much better after that. The night finally was able to get started. We moved and waited another 10 minutes for our server to pay us any attention, and when he finally came to take our order. He was on his phone, and just extremely distracted and honestly I thought that was quite rude. I understand you may have other things you may be dealing with outside of work, but take care of that when you aren't taking care of your customers. It comes off as if you aren't even interested in providing us with great customer service. He takes our order and then as soon as he does he walks immediately out the restaurant and took care of whatever that was bothering him. He immediately took a phone call. I will just have to say, honestly my waiter was the reason why I gave you all 3 stars. He wasn't great. He wasn't personable and didn't make me feel comfortable being serviced by him. The food was pretty damn good and I really enjoy the ingredients were pretty fresh and the salsa was good too.

White washed mexican food and its cramped in the inside. I had a good time though because my friend and i havent seen each other in so long. My margarita was nasty though and i had forced myself to finish it. Service is friendly and good though! Just didnt like the food or drinks haha

I took my mom for Mothers Day and I must say from start to finish we received great service. The food was amazing and everything was well seasoned! Not watered down Mexican food like most places. The ambiance was moody and picture worthy. This spot is definitely worth it and my mom loved it!

Food and margaritas here are incredible. It's fairly priced for a higher end spot too. That said it's impressive enough to bring anyone here. Also, there tortillas wit their homemade butter is really delicious!

Palmilla is definitely delicious! They start you off with some freshly made soft tortillas with a honey butter, guacamole salsa, and a red salsa...they are amazing! I ordered the street tacos with carne asada and they are the best tasting tacos I've had! Highly recommend this place. The service was awesome! Our waiter was nice, tentative, professional, and friendly! It made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. I love the decor and ambiance of this place. The decor and detailing of the walls and ceiling lights added a nice touch to the location. I'm looking forward to trying the Palmilla in Newport Beach. They have their second location there which is closer to where I live.

5 stars for the service alone. The waiters were all so attentive and nice. The venue is right on the pier so the ambiance is great when dining outside. I ordered cocktails here and a plate with a crispy taco, enchilada, and Chile relleno. The drinks tasted excellent as did the food. I'd definitely come back here when I'm craving Mexican food by the beach.

We always make a point to eat at Palmilla when we're in town. Incredible food, the best drinks (get the Cadillac Margarita and Pineapple Serrano Margarita). Peter and Maria took good care of us - we always had what we needed! Ocean front views didn't hurt either ;). 5/5!!

I have been here a lot over the years, on our most recent visit we had Peter as our server and he was the best. Peter is the kind of server that checks in often, has great suggestions, checks back after food has been served,*at the right time* to make sure the entire table is pleased. He makes sure water/drinks are full, clean flatware, plates and any extras are taken care of. Also, as a person who loves cuisines from the southwest, the chile rellenos are a fun dish to share family style, in fact I prefer sharing family style here. Request Peter if he's available!

My first time here, we sat in the outside area it was nice! HOWEVER we all kept getting bit up on our feet/legs by bugs but it felt like a sting or a needle!! Don't know what's going on there but wear bug spray if you go and sit outside or just think twice before sitting outside!!! My taco was very juicy & my lemonade was nice and sweet. I did get bottom of the pan rice so it was kinda or hard and crunchy. My server was very kind.

I am a flight attendant for a major airline and EVERY time I have this layover I eat here. Not only is the food amazing, the view is to die for but also the service. Peter was phenomenal. His customer service went above and beyond and make sure you ask for him

Once again, Jenna made our day!! We told her what flavors we were craving and she concocted the most delicious drinks ever!! The food is always outstanding, I've never had a bad meal in the dozens of times I've been here. The service is beyond good, always so friendly and sweet. Thanks Jenna for the cocktails, food and company. There's a reason why I always bring friends here!

We came on a busy Saturday night with reservations for 6. Thanks to DJ for getting my mom's birthday reservation- we enjoyed the evening! We got three appetizers: guacamole, short rib taquitos and the queso fundido flameado. Those homemade tortillas are so good! The short rib was an all star Very trendy bar feel inside, but we sat outside with our big party. There was a flame centerpiece and heat lamps so we actually got kind of warm but they were able to turn off the flame table. #1- the filet mignon enchiladas were very good. I thought the seafood was ok. There was a very salty taste which some people at our table didn't like but I did like. The charred corn was especially yummy. Definitely worth coming back for some appetizers and good drinks.

The menu is fresh with delicious twists on the classics and the food is amazingly well prepared and flavorful The service is off the charts and the staff seem very proud of the place. Ryan was informative and pleasant. We'll be going back

100% rating for music and ambience. The kind of place you want to hang out for a fun Friday/Sat evening. Gets super crowded so recommend making reservations. Food is excellent but is definitely more fusion..would still eat here again. Bunch of us had the combo options (enchillada+taco) which was really good and filling - we all took away leftovers. The bartenders are the best. Half the crowd on our table wasn't drinking alcohol that night, and the bartender came up with the really tasty mocktail alternatives. Again, this is not your hole-in-the-wall authentic mexican food...its just not. But the drinks, decor and the atmosphere make up for the food.

We celebrated my 50th bday here but we asked for 2 tables since we were 8 of us one of them was round table and the was a square table can you imagine how 8 people were sitting on a booth, plus two chairs on those tables? It was really uncomfortable. I saw another 3 parties sitting outside two and their tables were both square. The food was ok, I think we love the entrees more than then main food, the drinks was good, but please do something about the menu they are HUGE, big piece of wood and they just take all the space on the table. We brought our own cake, the waiter just came drop it off but didn't even stay to sing happy birthday which a thought it was rude. Oh! Out the tables had no table cloth either but the other tables did! Overall, not a good experience at all.

Food/ drinks we ordered: * La Asada con Salsa - 4/5 - delicious and well-prepared - green salsa is the same that comes with complimentary tortillas - comes with choice of side * Ceviche de pescado black - 4.5/5 - fish itself was fresh and prepared well - plantain chip portion was large but overcooked and flavor was overpowering to the ceviche; if this were fixed, would otherwise be fantastic * Braised short rib taquitos - 4/5 - delicious and with generous portions - a bit oily, but perhaps expected from taquitos * Pepino Diablo - 5/5 - their most popular drink for a reason, delicious! - recommend trying the rim with Tajín * Classic Mojito - 2.5/5 - bland and not flavorful, could not taste the mint or lime, would not order again

The food at Palmilla Covina is absolutely amazing!! I will definitely add it to must go spots. Compliments to the chefs. Peter, our server and the rest of the staff were very professional. I hope Peter and the staff receive recognition from other customers as well.

The good: I've walked by this place a few times and always noticed that it is popping. The best thing about this place is the ambience and location right by Hermosa Beach Pier. Sitting outside, you can people watch and enjoy the beach breeze. I tried the relleno de langosta and camaron as well as enchiladas. I liked the smokey smell they had indoors of foods that they smoked. The interior is very trendy with chains on the wall and interesting tables. The cocktails definitely looked nice but I'm pregnant and couldn't enjoy those. They have a kids menu and also open very late. They do take reservations. The bad: I thought the dishes were all just okay. The dishes are pricey. The portion isn't that large. The seafood tasted fishy and less fresh. The salsa had no kick. All of the dishes were underwhelming for me. The interesting: Some of the workers were scanty clothing. They have another location in Newport Beach.

This is my second time here and we had Ryan as our waiter and he was phenomenal! My favorite item rn is the pollo y hongo and it's so delicious and they now have a rose rosé sangria so refreshing.

Was a random Beach day - wanted to go bike riding and find a Resturant for lunch. Spotted this gem because of their tequila sign lol Resturant has a relaxed atmosphere, decor was simple, service was good, and the food was delicious. Everything was good! ** Service : comes with Warm Tortillas With Honey Butter And Salsas ! ** if you ask for extra tortillas to finish your dipping sauce, they'll charge you $1 each. We ordered : * Ceviche De Pescado Blanco Seabass, grape tomato, jalapeno, fresh avocado, tortilla chips - fresh plump fish good seasoning 5/5 * Ceviche De Aji Amarillo Seabass, lime, ginger, aji amarillo, crispy plantain chips - fresh plump fish good seasoning, Plantain chips were actually good crispy with a sprinkle of salt - 4/5 ( a bit too small for sharing in a big group ) * Playa Shrimp Taquitos fresno aioli, jalapeno crema, queso fresco - 5/5!!! - So good! Large prawns crispy with good session *** * Two Crispy Tacos Chicken machcaca or short rib crispy taco with queso blanco, lettuce, pico de gallo. Served with Spanish rice and refritos blancos with queso blanco 4/5 ** Got the short rib** * 3 soft Tacos 4/5 Drinks - mango margarita 5/5! Watermelon Cilantro Cooler 3.5/5 ( it was ok .. watermelon and cilantro basically decor. Wouldn't order again. will definitely be back !

I went there for birthday. The handmade tortillas was were great. 6 adults,2kids, 4 margaritas, 2 beers, soup, nachos, 3 fish street tacos & a burrito meal came to $450. It was good, but not that good. The $$ is deceiving. Over priced

Amazing food and incredible service within walking distance to the beach. Need I say more? We've tried: -the burrito, well made but probably the least exciting of everything we've tried -chicken with mushroom sauce, so unique, smothered with a. Caramelized onion cream sauce and served along side perfectly roasted carrots and broccolini with lime rice -halibut tacos, 3 generous tacos stuffed with fresh fix, cabbage and a creamy sauce -potato taquitos, the mashed potato was divine, it has some crispy edges and the filling is mixed with cheese, then rolled up into a perfectly crisp bite drizzled with 2 differently sauces. Some of the best potato taquitos I've had! -Achilles salmon, my favorite, this tasted like a dish you'd enjoy at a fine dining restaurant. The bottom is a crispy and sweet corn cake, with a perfectly cooked salmon filet kissed with a hint of smoky spicy placed atop it. So unique and well done, I'm obsessed with this dish Their fruity margaritas are delicious as well. Can't wait to come back!
