I had booked a stay at El Convento and was relocated here when they overbooked. This property is adults only and small, and we rarely ran into other guests, except at the pool. The property overall is clean and has a lot of seating options throughout (a game/reading room, tables/chairs throughout, the courtyard, etc), so it's a nice little refuge from the busyness of Old San Juan. It's conveniently located right off the Plaza de Armas, so everything in Old San Juan is close by.
The layout of some of the rooms was confusing. In order to access our room, we had to open a door off the main corridor which listed three rooms. Within the next space, there was one labeled room and then a second door, so it seemed like only two rooms were there. But we had to enter through the second door which then led to another space where you could access two rooms. If someone booked a suite or connecting room (not sure if that's an option) that might make sense, but it wasn't explained to us and we were nervous we would be walking into someone else's room. Also, the doors stuck and had to be shoved open using a shoulder.
A major con was that our shower leaked. As in, would flood the bathroom every time because the seal at the bottom of the door was broken. So we would try to take short showers to avoid having to mop the whole bathroom since the drain wasn't fast enough and the seal didn't work.
Housekeeping was seemingly nonexistent. We left one day and came back around 3pm and housekeeping hadn't made it to our room yet. By the time they made it to our room, we didn't want to leave again, so we just accepted fresh towels. However, we were disturbed a little bit later because the housekeeper had put her phone in the stack of towels that she had handed to us.
There are a lot of benefits to staying at this property and overall, it was nice. However, they still have some kinks to work out (doors sticking, showers flooding, housekeeping, etc). Once they do, it would be a really lovely property to return to.
