This hip, brick-lined bar in Downtown Miami dishes out Instagram-worthy cocktails and brunch with a lively, friendly vibe that makes you want to return.
"Over Under has a self-deprecating sense of humor, an unbothered attitude, and likes to throw dance parties until well past most reasonable bedtimes. But it also takes its food very seriously, and this place is sneakily one of Miami’s most consistently delicious restaurants. If you want something reliably amazing between bread, perhaps paired with an excellent cocktail, this is where you want to be. The cheeseburger is as great as everyone says, but so are more recent additions to the menu like the catfish po’boy and blackened shrimp slathered in chili butter and served with roti. Yes, Over Under is still the most fun place to be in Downtown at 1am on a Saturday night. But don’t forget about them next time you’re making dinner plans." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Alright, before you launch your angry email/comment/messenger pigeon our way: we know. This is not a key lime pie. But Over Under’s sour orange pie does taste like a spiritual cousin to the key lime pie—the menu description for it states, “Picture key lime pie, except with a fruit that we actually get from Florida.” It’s got a very similar flavor profile. Plus, it’s so good. The sour orange gives off a perfect tartness. It's topped with a glob of torched meringue and built on a salty crust made from crushed Saltines. We actually like this better than about 96 percent of South Florida's key lime pies." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"There are a lot of occasions that could justify going to Over Under, a small cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Downtown. It’s a good place to bring a date or catch up with a few friends over some strong (and delicious) cocktails. They make an awesome cheeseburger, have oysters, and have great Happy Hour specials in case you’re trying to drink efficiently. And if you're a martini person, they make an oyster shell-infused version that might be our favorite martini in town." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Is Over Under a bar or a restaurant? Yes. And that’s why it’s so fun. Roll up to the narrow Downtown spot on a Saturday night and the place will be split between people dancing and people wiping cheeseburger debris from their chin. It’s a beautiful chaos that works as long as you don’t mind shouting or bumping into strangers on the way to the bathroom. But the menu here is no afterthought. Their Florida-focused bar food is great. The later you stay here, the wilder things get (and they don’t close till 3am Wednesday through Saturday)." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"There are many occasions that justify going to Over Under, a narrow cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Downtown. But being in the mood for a martini is one of them—because this place makes what might just be our favorite martini in town. It's called the shell-tini, and it's a perfectly briny martini with oyster shell-infused gin. It truly deserves whatever the martini equivalent of a Nobel Prize is. Plus, you can drink it beneath the glow of a neon mosquito, which proudly hangs on the wall." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
