Nestled within The Slanted Door, this casual takeout kiosk serves up vibrant Vietnamese dishes—perfect for grabbing a meal on the go.
"Too many restaurants in San Francisco have all the energy of intermission at a Josh Groban concert. OTD is a different story. It feels kind of like walking into the opening “Out to Dinner” montage of The Hills meets The City, by which we mean there are attractive people in the room who look like they’re having a great time. But we’re in San Francisco, so everyone’s still wearing flats and wrapping up dinner by 9:45 at the latest. The upscale Vietnamese food is consistent, and all the dishes are made for sharing – great for a Marina Girl birthday or a date (snag the bar seats overlooking the kitchen if you can). Out The Door is an offshoot of The Slanted Door, and like its older sibling, the menu could use a little freshening up. But it’s still a fun time. More fun than Josh Groban, if you can believe it." - Taylor Abrams
"This is the Slanted Door's more casual but equally delicious offshoot. At this location, take-out is the only option. In Pacific Heights, you can actually sidle up to a communal table or counter for an excellent lunch of Asian-inflected small plates or a weekend brunch (the 5-spice scramble is pretty special). None of the dishes feel too heavy and all go really well with a glass of house wine."
"This spot is owned by the same people as The Slanted Door, and while there’s a full-service Out The Door across town, this one is much more of a grab-and-go scenario, with things like spring rolls, noodles, and pork buns. If you work near the Ferry Building, this is a good spot to come for lunch." - Will Kamensky
