Nestled in Hollywood, Osteria Mozza dazzles with upscale Italian fare by chef Nancy Silverton, boasting a lively atmosphere and a must-try mozzarella bar.
"Walking in and sitting at the bar at Osteria Mozza rewards you with a few things: relatively immediate seating, the full menu of solid Italian food, and the off-chance of getting a front-row seat to watch Nancy Silverton in her preferred habitat of pulling mozzarella cheese for the masses. Order the ricotta and egg raviolo that’s covered in a brown butter sauce and a glass of Sicilian red, and watch as the Hancock Park old guard trickle in from their mansions. " - brant cox
"The classic Italian restaurant at Melrose and Highland is doing a special V-Day menu for two that costs $200. The package includes several courses such as their famous chopped salad, pasta rotolo, roast chicken, tiramisu, and olive oil cake, plus an entire “Apertivo Hour” that includes snacks and a bottle of prosecco. If that’s not enough, they also throw in a vase of flowers. Pickup only." - brant cox

"If you’re into Italian wine (or think you’d like to be into Italian wine), Osteria Mozza is where you should be drinking it. The wine list here is 68 pages deep, with bottles from across the country ranging from affordable to four-figure prices. They also have a selection of wines that come by the carafe (about a third of a bottle), so you can order a different one with each of the five courses of pasta you ordered." - jess basser sanders
"You've probably heard about famed California-cuisine pioneer Nancy Silverton's Michelin-starred Mozza—with to-die-for pasta and a mozzarella bar that's rich in burrata. The lighting is dim and moody. The crowd (and staff) is nicely dressed and perfectly coiffed. The music volume is just the right decibel of loud. It's buzzy, and there's a pulsating energy in the air; it might just be that everyone came in hungry, and expectations are high. It's unlikely that anyone walked off the street and got a table, and as such, it's clear that coming for a meal here is a bit of an event. There are plenty of Gen X-ers and Millennials, mostly in groups rather than on dates. (And few Gen Z-ers, with their parents probably footing the bill.) In addition to the pasta and antipasi, there's perfectly grilled and seasoned fish, and decadent desserts. This iconic L.A. restaurant shows no signs of slowing down." - Hugh Garvey, Celeste Moure, Krista Simmons
