Oitavos Dunes Golf Course

We have loved to play this very smoothly contoured golf course with wide fairways and sometimes demanding deep bunkers. The fairways are perfectly maintained like large putting greens. The views to the sea are sometimes amazing. The greens are in perfect shape and are on the fast side of the scale. One has to transport the bags to the clubhouse and back again, this is a little bit demanding. The friendly staff has offered to support the transport. The plates on the course and especially near the clubhouse cannot be read very well. We surely will again play this nice course.

We played this as part of a golf holiday and it was definitely the best of all. Really professional, helpful & friendly staff. The course is enjoyable mainly because it was not overly difficult (at least from yellows) and it gives you plenty opportunity to score. The greens were shiny and scary quick. Overall conditions were excellent and many holes are stunning to look at although somewhat similar looking. I enjoyed the fact that most holes are played on their own as you cannot see any other fairway or tee box. Driving range and practice facilities are worth visiting just on their own, truly fantastic. Clubhouse is tidy and bar has good service.

Fantastic golf course. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The greens are undulating and the costal wind makes it a very challenging but enjoyable golf course.

Neat course, happy to play once. Short buggies, which is normal and I walk but when asked to bring mom along got a hard no. No water for drinking available in the clubhouse or on the course which really crushed our walking group. Also, no benches and only saw the beverage cart once. Great course but overpriced and poor amenities.

Beautiful course. Only issues are there is no water to drink anywhere on the course and nowhere in clubhouse to fill a water bottle. Cart was 65 USD, no gps or anything. It’s a great course but inclined to say very overpriced, especially considering lack of amenities.

Did not like the layout at all. The wide open moorland type holes lack any definition and are boring. You can be way off intended line and get away with. Bach to back dinky par 3s not for me. The front of clubhouse looks scruffy and needs attention. Greens and fairways are in good order.

Our group really enjoyed this golf course. A wonderful Arthur Hill design and what I envisioned a Portuguese seaside course to look like. A challenging (but fair) layout especially if there is any wind. Now the downside. Our experience was very similar to previous reviews. Except for our starter who was very friendly and engaging, the staff is not friendly or helpful at all. This is a very walkable golf course especially with a trolley (they do have some electric trolleys as well), but if you want buggies reserve them in advance. We did not and ended up walking and it was a great experience. Consistent with previous reviews there is no water on the golf course so bring your water bottles and fill them up ahead of time. In our experience the “buggie bar” is very inconsistent (we saw it early on the front and then 16). Definitely a must play if you are in the area despite the downsides.

Great course for the money! Felt like we played in a top quality course. The cart service was spotty as they only showed up twice while we are playing- but we were too engrossed in playing that we didn’t care. Pace of play was pretty good. Just a little bit of surprise for us when we started when they snuck in a 2 member walking group in front of us saying that they have to accommodate members- felt odd. But the members went pretty fast and we were able to get going. Every hole was well maintained with good fairways and the greens definitely was interesting as you had to pay attention to where the sea was to see if you are playing against the grain or with the grain. The views were great and I wish I took more photos - was just too busy playing and enjoying this course! The clubhouse was under construction so they said hotel lobby bar was it - hotel lobby was very good and the hotel looked cool as well. If I play here next time, I may just stay in the hotel.
