Oitavos Dunes Golf Course

Amazing course, very well kept, stunning scenery, wouldn’t say the greens were super fast because they felt well watered. A couple of things I wish were communicated: - the driving range was under maintenance, which is really annoying to pay that much for a round and not hit a few balls before. We could have been emailed prior? - Very few buggy’s for the amount of players on the course. So don’t count on booking one on the day. Despite this I’d really recommend this course, just a shame I couldn’t get the full experience.

This is a very beautiful golf course but very challenging with the wind, no no, not wind, but storm! 🌪️ The staff told me that this course is used to be windy, but the day I played is extremely windy. I can see my ball flying from the left to right because of the wind. Even it is windy, it’s still very enjoyable. The speed of green is v v fast, I feel like putting on a piece of glass. The staff is very very helpful and friendly. They help you carry your bag from the drop off to the starter. This is a unique experience playing in this course, I would recommend to keen golfers!!

We have loved to play this very smoothly contoured golf course with wide fairways and sometimes demanding deep bunkers. The fairways are perfectly maintained like large putting greens. The views to the sea are sometimes amazing. The greens are in perfect shape and are on the fast side of the scale. One has to transport the bags to the clubhouse and back again, this is a little bit demanding. The friendly staff has offered to support the transport. The plates on the course and especially near the clubhouse cannot be read very well. We surely will again play this nice course.

Reasonably challenging golf course with a couple of tough holes. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Magnificent views. Enjoyed playing a round there.

We played this as part of a golf holiday and it was definitely the best of all. Really professional, helpful & friendly staff. The course is enjoyable mainly because it was not overly difficult (at least from yellows) and it gives you plenty opportunity to score. The greens were shiny and scary quick. Overall conditions were excellent and many holes are stunning to look at although somewhat similar looking. I enjoyed the fact that most holes are played on their own as you cannot see any other fairway or tee box. Driving range and practice facilities are worth visiting just on their own, truly fantastic. Clubhouse is tidy and bar has good service.

A little over priced. A good course but a windy days makes it unbearable on most holes. Did not have carts available at 3pm which was annoying.

By far the worst course we played in Portugal. It was the worst check in experience with arrogant and unhelpful people. They have very few buggies - only course in Portugal who did not have one available for us. One player in our group has a medical condition so cannot walk a course. The course refused to refund his green fees even though he could not play. It was the only course we booked that we had this problem and the course blamed the incapacitated player for not booking a cart ahead of time. As you can see from other reviews, it would not have mattered. Also , they come across as cold and money grabbers. The layout was poor. After walking 9, you are trapped with having to continue through 18 as there is no easy back to the clubhouse. The clubhouse and restaurant were dated. Gives the impression that it’s an incomplete renovation! It is much better to go for drinks/food in Cascais if you do play here, as the people there were much nicer, views much better and you can take your golf clubs with you. We were frankly stunned that this course was rated in the top 100 in the world having played top courses in Portugal, Spain, Scotland, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, singapore, USA, Canada , Mexico among other countries. Does a real disservice to the much better Portuguese courses like Quinta do Lago, Monte Rei, Penha Lonha, Dundas Dunes - all top level courses with great customer service and appreciation. By far the worst golfing experience in Europe for members of our foursome. We would not return or advise our friends or families to visit or play this course. Waste of time, only downer on our 3 week trip!

Wow, just wow. What a stunning course this is. #16 in Continental Europe and #65 in the world. And those ratings are true! Service here was impeccable we got free driving range tokens included in greenfee. Clubs were brought to where you start practicing etc. Really great course! TIP: go there in the off season. Only costs 65 euro.

We had 12:30pm tee time. Arrived at 11:20am to find out that driving range and cafe was closed. No place to get any food so we had to drive somewhere else to buy drinks and food before the round. Restrooms were impossible to find at the course. They charge 5 euros to buy bag of tees. Overrated course in my opinion. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The photos do not do justice to this breathtaking course. Although windy on some holes, the views are worth it. Interesting, challenging and fun holes. Very fair tees for women. Very walkable course. Two of us walked and finished in 3.5 hours. Absolutely a must play if you visit this part of Portugal.

This hotel does not meet the criteria for luxury or five stars. The lack of hospitality was concerning and left us very uncomfortable during our stay. We arrived early (8am) after a long red eye flight and the hotel refused us early check-in despite it being very quiet there. Our expectation would be to get into a room shortly after others had checked out at 11am. We waited in the lounge for nearly seven hours without any offer to accommodate us in any way. Surely a room was available given checkout is typically prior to 11am. There were many people tidying up everywhere. Staff did not appear to be an issue. The reception staff were aware that we had not slept in over a day and weren't feeling well. No one offered us water, food, suggestions of where to go or what to do or even a tour of the property. This was shocking to us for a five star hotel. In fact we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome sitting in the lounge for so long. Once we finally got to the room and began to sleep, an employee walked into our room without notice and startled us. He apologized and left. He then came back less than an hour later and knocked and announced himself. We asked that he please leave so we could rest. There was a daily charge to use the spa, gym and indoor pool/jacuzzi. The hotel has little charm and felt cold. The room was large but essentially four concrete walls with glass doors and walls for the bathroom and shower. I don't recommend staying with anyone other than close partners or family members. Overall staff seemed arrogant and unwilling to be helpful. The accommodations were simply not luxury or five star. I would not recommend a stay here especially with so many other local and luxury hotels in the area.
