The North Star Diner is a cozy spot serving up hearty comfort food with a unique vibe, featuring funky decor and a lively bar scene perfect for a casual hangout.
"North Star is the coolest diner in the city. It has glittery gold booth cushions as well as an entire wall dedicated to framed portraits of real astronauts. Most importantly, their breakfast food—particularly the terrific buttermilk pancakes—are great. Pair your biscuits and gravy or scrambled egg chimichanga with a Pimm’s cup or Irish coffee, and in the warmer months, trade your view of several dozen space-suited cadets for fresh air on their patio." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"North Star is the coolest diner in the city. It’s open from 8am-9pm, and has gold glittery booth cushions as well as an entire wall dedicated to framed portraits of real astronauts. Most importantly, their food—like textbook-example buttermilk pancakes or a chimichanga stuffed with carnitas, hash browns, and scrambled eggs—is simply restorative after rolling out of bed. That's especially true if you stayed out for hours last night having “one more drink” four times. The best part is, you could come back after work to their adjoining bar, which has karaoke four days a week." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"We love when a breakfast sandwich features a six-inch oval sausage patty that’s ever so much thicker than the fried egg. And it’s what's happening here at North Star in Greenwood, along with melted american on your choice of english muffin or biscuit. (You want the biscuit.) In a city absolutely overrun with complicated topping combinations and snooty sauces, we appreciate the four-ingredient simplicity of this one." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"North Star Diner is one of the best spots in town for a classic American breakfast, and by breakfast, that means anything from a stack of pancakes to a patty melt chased with a milkshake. The patio feels more like a beer garden, complete with picnic tables and a big fence, but it’s an enjoyable outdoor spot to eat diner food without worrying about sweaty legs getting stuck to a booth. "An obsession with Pacific Northwest murders is not required to enjoy Greenwood’s (formerly) best-kept secret, a combination 24/7 diner and karaoke lounge with shockingly good cocktails and bartenders skilled enough to carry a Prince tune while simultaneously pouring beers. But according to Bourdain, who’s borderline obsessed with the serial killers of the PNW, “Crab, bacon, and melted cheese is, when discussing dumpsites and ligature marks, a must.”" - Dylan Joffe
