"More Than Your Neighborhood Bar Welcome to the Neighbourhood: the old Bondi FM radio station that's been reinvented as a local watering hole with an equal dose of style and heart. The space is a hodgepodge of brick, upcycled wood, old crates, and reclaimed light fixtures, and there's even a DJ booth in the middle that recently relaunched Bondi Radio, streamed 24 hours a day and often broadcast at the bar. Ex Porteno barkeep Simon McGoram created a well-rounded drink menu that includes 12 eclectic-yet-smooth cocktails such as a margarita with grilled pineapple and habanero salt. Order it with the smoky mac and cheese or the cheeseburger jaffle (a sandwich toasted in a jaffle iron), which, to my surprise, didn't include any burger. Even after the bar closes, you can stream Bondi Radio from home and keep the party going."

We thoroughly enjoyed this venue. It had a great menu and a wide variety of beverages to choose from. Options of indoor or outdoor to enjoy. We had the Tacos - fish and chicken which were fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and we loved the rules of entry. Do yourself a favour and check this place out...

Not my style. Very dark (need flash) and too rustic. The food was ok. It had a lot of flavours that were quite strong burger was very salty, the rice was sauced up.

Hands down best roast I’ve had in Sydney! Kicking myself for not going earlier!! Everything was cooked to perfection, the beef was that tender it melted in my mouth and the Yorkshire pudding hit the nail on the head and tasted as good as it looked! Venue has a great chilled vibe, all the staff were super friendly and provided great customer service. Will definitely be back to try out the different cocktails! 10/10 would recommend! Forgot to mention the banging playlist!!

Rather disappointing if you're not vegetarian - food looked nice, but steak wasn't made properly, portion was very small and having paid $30 I pretty much ledt the restaurant hungry. Vegetarian options ordered by my colleague looked better tho

If I could rate this place a zero I would. The cocktails ordered we waited for 20-30 minutes just to receive the worst cocktails I have ever tasted in my life. The Mary was so spicy I could barely drink it and the mezcal was overpowering. It tasted like pete. My partner ordered the lychee cocktail which tasted like dish soap. No form of citrus whatsoever. We still hadn’t even received table water and I had to ask 3 times. It’s been a 30 degree day. The food came faster than the cocktails. We were told there was a ‘typo’ on the menu and ended up saying we were okay with ordering 26 (originally 16) dollar royales. Strange typo if you ask me. When we bit into the burger they were raw on the inside. Literally red and oozing blood. Not to mention we spotted a server testing and lighting the blow torch inside. We explained that we didn’t finish our food and the server apologised and gave us a discount. Of 16 dollars. From 98…. To 82. Some discount. I’m appalled at the service, the food, the drinks and I won’t ever be coming back here. It’s a scam.

It's been a while but Neighborhood is still just as great as always. Great list of drinks, great jaffles and beat of all, the staff are still legends. It's dog friendly too. Longer visit required asap.

If you are a fan of craft cocktail...this is your place. The mixologist can handle anything you ask for and it is all done with an understated flair. That is hard to do when you are a master of your craft. The food is solid and really a bonus to the menu as the cocktails are the reason I love the place. The total bonus - no touristy vibe in the place. Do it, you know you want to.

Yelp
So was wrapping up a day trip to Bondi and after the rigorous hike around to catch all the views of the coastline, I decided that lunch was in order before heading back to the heart of Sydney. There is no shortage of places to check out across the main street but I wanted to grab some grub at a joint off the hustle and bustle of the main street as I tend to uncover good food with less crowding. I went down Gould and after a bit of twist and turns I stumbled upon Neighbourhood as they were beginning to open up for lunch. The joint itself has some seating outside and then a bar the moment you walk in with some high tops on the left side. They also have more tables in the back of the restaurant but I wanted to catch all the action and people watch so chose a table near the front with a view of the windows. The bartenders and waitress were super friendly here and they struck up lively conversation as I perused the menu. This joint offers up a standard menu with a bunch of entrees and appetizers but also seems to offer a bbq type menu in the back which seems to be limited supply. I was not looking to get stuffed completely but instead wanted some bites so focused my attention on the entrees and appetizers. The menu here has a Louisiana or dirty south feel to it which was a welcome sight for me cos who can hate on a delicious piece of fried chicken. I started by perusing the drinks menu and my attention was caught by the "Hood's Zombie" because it said strictly one per customer next to it. I mean who can turn down a drink that is limited to one per person. The drink is packed with a lot of adult goodness including absinthe and I thought was delicious. It's a shame because I really wanted a second one.. but I digress. For the grub, we decided to have an order of the fried chicken and the tater tots with cheese and jalapeno. Clearly going for the healthy lunch. The tots were out and they were nice and crisp with the bacon being a delicious protein on top. I wish they had put more jalapenos but the ones I was able to snag were a delicious plus on the tots. The chicken was next and it was tender and juicy with the skin being fried to a nice light crisp. The aioli sauce they provide is a nice accompaniment to the chicken and provides flavor complexity. All in all, this is a great spot and I can see it be hopping at night with their drink menus, friendly service, and upscale bar food. Definitely a positive in my book and worth recommending to those in the Bondi area.

Yelp
We met up with a friend that's been living in the Bondi area for the past few years so we let her choose where to eat. This ended up being Neighbourhood, a local hipster spot, which she's been to several times for drinks. It was pretty bumping for a Wednesday evening (around 7:15pm). We were able to snag a more secluded table between the kitchen and backyard area. This place is loud and there were lots of large groups but it made for a good atmosphere. Just be prepared for the noise and music. The menu is split into daily deals (Monday nights are burgers & beer for $15.00 AUD), drinks (cocktails, wines, beer and cider), small plates, mains, sides, burgers and desserts. Apparently, there a Sunday roast ($30.00 AUD) that sounds promising. FYI: there's a 10% service charge on Sundays and holidays. Staff were friendly and continuously brought out water jugs. - Mac 'n' cini ($12.00 AUD for 5) - came with a side of blue cheese sauce. Actually, not too heavy, lightly fried but I wouldn't want to eat this if it was just me. - Marinated eggplant san choy bau ($12.00 AUD for 3) - gem lettuce cups, mixed herbs, house pickles, Sriracha mayo and crispy shallots. This was a better small plate. A tasty vegetarian spin on lettuce wraps. - Black angus rump steak ($15.00 AUD for 250g) - I added a glass of red ($5.00 AUD) as this was their Wednesday special. Pretty good deal in my books! Came with a small piece of roasted corn and potato fries. A bit weird that they didn't ask how I wanted my steak cooked but it all worked out. A tender, just before well done steak with an addictive jus sauce. - Alabama slammer ($14.00 AUD) - southern fried chicken with burger cheese, bourbon BBQ sauce, blue cheese mayo and slaw. I had a bite and the sauce is on the sweet side. Decent but not the biggest burger. Doesn't come with any sides either. It's casual but a pretty reasonable spot to grab a drink and a few bites in the Bondi hood. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Luckily enough I ended up at Neighborhood tonight, it was one of few places open on a Monday that had burgers and beer. It a winning combo. What made this a better combo is that on Mondays they have a burger and beer for $15. Bargain mate. The cafe/bar has an American fancy diner feel to it which means perfect for a casual meal or date. I had the v- burger which was their signature veggie burger. It was a satay tofu patty with slaw and a jalapeño dressing. The satay and spice balanced each other perfectly. The bun was super soft and melted in your mouth as you at it. You would think with a $15 beer and burger deal you would get stuck with some basic house larger... WRONG ... we were given an American Atomic pale ale, which was surprising really good. It had its citrus floral notes as you get with a good pale ale, which means easy to drink and complimented any burger on the menu. Service was ok, the food and quality of beer and atmosphere definitely made up for it. Would definitely go again and try out the rest of the menu and cocktails.

Yelp
They couldn't have chosen a better name for this local spot, and on a dreary, rain-drenched Sunday night, it seemed everyone in Bondi had finally found a place to call their local. I practically expected the Cheers theme to commence at any moment (although it would have been drowned out by the resident DJ). And so much of Neighbourhood is just right. The fit out, the cocktail list (and execution), the gourmet comfort food (special shout outs to the wings and the mac 'n' cheese), the various seating options - it's the exact kind of place everyone wants to live down the street from and I have no doubt that with an offering this solid, this spot will make a permanent mark on Bondi's dining and nightlife scene. It will also likely make a permanent mark on my waistline, but that's another story. The one thing they still need to sort out is the service. While it's clear these guys were hustling - literally running from the back to the front of the restaurant like they were at Olympic time trials - getting them to stop by our table was an Olympic feat in itself. It quickly evolved from the head-turned, intense eye-staring, use-the-force tactics to the hand-waving, credit card hurling, star jumping methods. Finally, we just had to head to the nearest register to get their attention. The place was packed, so it was not due to a lack of hard work, but rather a kink in server sectioning, perhaps. I predict you'll find me here during their quieter hours, saddled up at the bar with a fresh squeezed blood orange juice and a big basket of wings.

Yelp
The king is dead, long live the king. I was a mad sick fan of Bondi FM and lamented its passing (with whisky, lots of whisky) until seeing the phoenix that sprung up - hipster-like! - from its ashes. And it's good. It's reals good, mister. Everyone is prettier and cooler than you are but it doesn't matter because they're so damned nice and chatty, and I ran into at least five friends here that I hadn't seen for ages. And hey look, there's Kings Cross nightclub guy Adam Freeman in the corner table. And there's Dom Le Toullec, fitness and video model. And who's that at the bar? It's Jezza from West Winds gin laughing like an emperor while holding a tray of shots. This is the kinda place that brings people together. That makes things happen. It was jammed up and heaving on the Sunday night we went there and the service staff were getting slammed, so while there was some delays on the food when it did come it was damned fine - sticky ribs, seasoned chips, pulled pork toasties and a jalapeno salt-encrusted margarita that had me sitting up and begging for buttermilk. Get on down to party town.

Yelp
Wings, ceviche, pulled pork, Mac n cheese Jaffles... Jaffles!!! Whoever came up with the genius idea to serve old school jaffles with well crafted and boozy cocktails should be given some kind of humanitarian award. The smoked BBQ margarita was excellent. My table of six probably would've ordered more had we been able to find a staff member. Perhaps they're still finding their feet, but it seemed to me as if there weren't strict service plans in place, with staff popping between sections and no one or two people responsible for our section. This wouldn't turn me off from heading back at a future date and devouring more of both the solid and liquid menus.

Yelp
VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! Arrived at 8.15, we were seated in the back of the restaurant and received minimal service. We ordered our drinks and when they were served we ordered our starters. We received our starters at 9pm. As soon as they arrived we tried to place our order for mains. Yet to our dismay we were told the kitchen had closed at 9pm. I checked my phone and it was 9.04pm. No staff had told us the time of kitchen closing, and to make matters worse we were ready to place our orders for mains for several minutes with no one paying us attention. The waitress gave us bad attitude and was overtly rude when we made this problem aware. I would not recommend this place as staff are rude, and service is WHACK!

Yelp
On a rainy Sunday eve, we found comfort in the back dining room of Neighbourhood. Not being a Bondi local I was told confidently it was a welcome addition to the area and you could tell by the number of people beginning to heave from the bar area you need to walk through to grab a table out the back. They've crafted a menu Ron Swanson would be proud of - BBQ Margaritas, Philly cheesesteak jaffles, addictive buffalo wings to name but a few. The food was fast and dirty (in a comfort food-preparing for a hangover-no need to be delicate kind of way) and excellent for sharing amongst our group of six or more. The service was intermittent but as I mentioned above, they were packed on this particular Sunday night.

Yelp
Great service. Fantastic drinks. But the French fries... Oh the French fries. They were all far too small. Not in quantity, of that they were ever so rich. Bit in size!! They were oh, so minor. The largest weighing no longer than 11mm. I could hardly dip them in my ketchup without wetting my fingers. An otherwise 5 star performance.

Yelp

Yelp
I stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. The by the glass wine menu is not very big - one choice of Riesling, one choice of Pinot Gris, one Sauvignon Blanc and one Chardonnay for the whites. I opted for the Sauv Blanc and it was a good drop. Nice wooden tables give the place a nice feel. There are tables in the front and also out the back in the courtyard.

Carlos D.

Yelp
Best toasties in town, courtyard out back is great for a rainy day. Funky music and amazing cocktails . Steak night on Wednesday not to be missed either. Get yourself there for lunch or dinner and you won't go wanting for relaxed fun. My fave place in Bondi

Paula H.

Yelp
Service comes (when they bother to serve you) with HUGE attitude. Thanks but no thanks. The staff argued with us when they got the order wrong and included those items on the bill. They never came to the table, we had to get up constantly to grab their attention.

Yelp
absolute fav! Simple, well crafted meals and cocktails in a chic, well decorated bar/restaurant. The staff are lovely and never too busy to make sure you've got everything you need. The fries at this place are fantastic - I normally only have a few when they come with meals, but whatever seasoning they use had me licking the crumbs off the plate! Good pricing for a place so close to the beach in Bondi. Love it!
