I recently celebrated my birthday at a restaurant called Neighborhood, which is known for its talented chef, David Lai. David Lai has been awarded one Michelin star and has been recognized in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list since 2018. Being in Hong Kong for seven years, I had been planning to visit this restaurant for a long time, and my wife finally took me there on my birthday. We had an incredible experience at Neighborhood. The menu offered a wide range of dishes that were simply amazing. Each dish was a perfect match and had a perfect balance of flavors. The attention to detail and the presentation of the food were outstanding. I highly recommend visiting Neighborhood for a special occasion or simply to indulge in some exquisite culinary delights. The restaurant's reputation and the skills of Chef David Lai make it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts in Hong Kong.

Terrible Meal at Neighborhood I had a very bad experience just now. The mussels were not fresh, and the food had a second-rate taste despite being overpriced. Our main dishes came out 20 minutes apart. The staff kept telling us to leave - the waiter and manager came to our table 4 times and rushed us out. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not go back.

Food was ok but not exceptional. My only problem with this restaurant is that they would recommend way more than you need. They would specifically recommend you would need an additional few dishes on top of a big portion chicken rice. You could easily see every table would have at least a dish or two to take away.

Different table different service, just our table have time limited for two hours. The sever said other table who were close friends and pay extra to stay longer and she was lying. Service so bad, reminded us to leave at 8:30pm every 10mins, main course came at 8:10pm, gave us the bill at 8:20pm, asking us to pack to take away. Foods just soso, extremely over priced. Potato costed $300 Peas costed $240.

Fourth time here and I always order the roast beef (love!) and pre-order the chicken for out-of-town guests as they’re always curious about the hype Service is always very strange. Perhaps good service is reserved for F&B industry friends and influencers? First visit was ok Second visit - host was maybe having a bad day and gave us attitude all night, this was a taint to a celebration dinner Third visit - couldn’t get the order right, couldn’t serve the 3 onion soups at once and all 3 came out in different quality Fourth visit - 8:30pm seating. It was strange that they recommended us to add another paella to our existing order of appetizers, roast beef, chicken, desserts, and bottle of wine for a party of 4. Please update the operating hours so we know what to expect, because it is surely not midnight. Rather than telling us when they are closing, they were sweeping the floors and putting chairs on the tables around 11:20-11:30pm. Definitely not expecting this type of passive aggressive hospitality at a HKD 1,000+ per person restaurant.

Well executed dishes with fresh ingredients. Every dish was delicious. The wine list is meager and just okay. May be worthwhile to bring your own. Service level is good, but I think one was training. There were some awkward moments like when they brought someone else’s dish and he forgot to get our replacement napkin when he picked it up off the floor. Overall, very good for groups up to 8 that appreciate good food!

The food was mostly quite good, especially the baby squid in the appetizer section. But I don’t understand the value proposition of this place - this place is easily 1k plus per person, but they use ikea plates, don’t really change your plates, and don’t even have dessert spoons. Plus, they recommended a 800+ white wine that tasted like a 80 dollar wine from the convenience store and kept trying to recommend a fish appetizer that costs 1k.

First I have to say the address here is just as a reference. When I arrived at the place according to the address it wasn't a restaurant and I was stunned. You have got it 50% right because the restaurant is right behind the shop. You have to locate the slope between the shop and the mural wall, walk down and see the narrow stairs on the left and walk in and you will see the restaurant in front of the playground next to the bar. Not a very big restaurant, an intimate dining space. Don't be fooled by the flimsy 1 page menu, just go with an open mind and ask the staff for recommendations instead. Just let them know your preference and also they will let you know what's special for the day. The only thing you have to do before you want to visit this restaurant is to (1) remember to make a reservation and (2) there are 2 pre order rice dishes in the menu so remember to pick any one as one of the mains. The price may sound expensive but it actually boils down to the serving, like the price for the salt baked chicken is for one whole chicken so for 2 persons you might just take half and the price will be approximately half. We tried picking dishes from the menu randomly just by looking at some of the ingredients we liked and mostly based on the recommendations of the staff. Ended up trying quite a bit of the dishes. The Crudo we had was special of the day not in the menu and we loved how the fish was well executed with the flavours of the spices, sauces and vegetables. Was the 1st dish and it was very appetizing with some tinge of sourness. Then we had some pretty good dishes like the hokkaido cod fish with cauliflower gratin and the black sausage with trumpet mushrooms. Of course the highlight was the pre ordered dish which we ordered the salt baked chicken. It was so good we enjoyed it a lot and initially we thought half chicken might be too much for 2 but we finished everything clean. Save some space for dessert because we liked their french toast too! Do not worry as the size of the french toast is not the original size, probably just a quarter of it. So good we thought it would be nicer if it was bigger! A truly enjoyable meal and price was slightly steep but was definitely worth it. Would recommend visiting but remember to make a reservation!

This restaurant is pretty good, all meals are fresh and delicious ! The place is small, and all the ingredients are freshly prepared on the day, so most of the menu will be determined the day before and purchased on the day. Their dinner is divided into two echelons, 6:30 or 8:30, be sure to make an appointment in advance to order dishes! Very relaxed environment, first-class service!

Neighborhood is a bit tough to find but is well worth your trouble. Like most restaurants in HK, Neighborhood is a cozy place That seats 30 people. Ax. You will need to book in advance. The signature dishes also require pre-ordering so it's best to book at least a week in advance. Food: 4.5 stars Environment/service: 4 stars Value: 4 stars Recommendations: Pin Chuan chicken with morel mushrooms (whole chicken so best to share) The pin chuan chicken dish is a must order. It is baked in salt and served with mushrooms in a cream sauce over rice cooked in cast iron casserole dish. There isn't much description on the menu items so I would suggest taking some time to speak with the staff to understand what to order or to do some research ahead of time. I particularly enjoyed the frog legs, pasta dishes, and chocolate dessert.

This place is a bit hard to find. The address is 31 Hollywood road, central but the restaurant is actually located in the little alley behind Hollywood road. Love the ambiance. It's a hidden spot but well decorated, simple, modern and homey. The menu is relative limited and they have exotic items like boar, deer, gooseneck, escargots, beef tripe, so be ready for it if you are up for some adventure. The menu also has steak, salads, paella, pastas, etc. Overall, food was good but not mind blowing. We had the beef/osyter tartare, beef trip gratin, pigeon eggs with escargot butter and finch toast with truffle with black truffle. Flavours are unique and complex but not mind blowing for me.

You have so many Italian/French restaurants gems in HK, I would NOT be going to this place again. Sure you have a quaint location, decor. It's a good place to have a quiet dinner and catch up, seemed like there were a few tables on dates there, or bring your mistress here? Dim lighting so everyone is easy on the eyes. The service was horrible. We had the early 7pm seating and basically, they would remind us non-stop that they need the table back by 8:30 once our mains were on the table. Hello? You have empty tables in the backroom and you are already rushing us out? WTF? Presentation - clean. Nothing good nor bad. Your steak tartare - mediocre. We ordered truffles to make it better. Frog legs - over seasoned. Good batter but too salty for me. Your fish of the day - FISHY! Not even fresh. Now i see why you are rushing us out, we might get a bad tummy ache after this meal? Pasta with truffles - meh, I've had better in this city Chocolate cake dessert - hey, not bad! Pretty rich, we are happy the 3 of us shared it. Value for money sure, it's fine but why would I waste my calorie quota on this place again? Wait, I won't be coming back!

Neighborhood is found down a side little alley off Peel Street where a few casual little bars reside. Small but nice ambience, and the French/italian menu changes every week. The dishes are small, which means we get to try a wider variety！My favorites were the daily roast - pigeon; garganelli with summer truffle; Black Forest white asparagus with morel and egg; and when you think Caesar salad can't get any better, it does! Special mention is the 36 mo Comte we finished the meal with. Yum.

Really well done, simple and elegantly. Food, service, and atmosphere - all of this at reasonable price. Definitely will be back for date nights and small group gatherings.

My friend and I arrived at 7 with reservation. A bit hard to find because it's off the road but the waitress was patiently told us the way to go on the phone. We sat down and the waitress started introducing their menu to us. It's interesting that their menu changes every week. We ordered frog leg, fish in soup paste, beef risotto, organic salad and daily meet. Every single dish is extraordinarily. Delicious frog leg, best taste with wine. Sour fish fillet. Daily meat was duck which taste so good. We did not order dessert but they served us their complimentary chocolate cake. Remember to ask them to serve slower. One dish by one dish. That way you would have a better experience.
