National Museum of Tajikistan

Much better than the other museum in town. There are 4 floors, each with a specific exhibition (ancient history, modern history, nature and art). And then....the ubiquitous propaganda of course. Ticket is 35 somoni (plus 20 for photos).

A large collection of artifacts, art, historical objects, and Tajikistan flora and fauna. It requires extensive time to be able to see everything spanning several floors.

I spent 2.5 hours in the company of a male guide for the first floor exhibition and female guide for the other floors. They knew their subject matter well (but were less good at fielding unscripted questions) and spoke perfect English. It was a great way to see the highlights of the museum and understand Tajikistan better before starting my tour of this country. Sadly, you have to go to the British Museum to see the Oxus Treasure.

Just visited yesterday. Wonderful place. You need to pay 5 Simoni to enter, but it’s worth it! There is an exhibition dedicated to Tajik embroidery now. Honestly, I have never seen anything like this before. I’m going to share some pictures, but I totally recommend you to visit and see it with your 👀 👍🏼👍🏼
