"Getting the Hang(eul) of It The Korean alphabet, known as hangeul, is the only alphabet in the world where the letters were created to resemble the shape the mouth makes as you voice them. Created by King Sejong in the mid 15th century as a way to educate the illiterate, the language is now as beloved in the ROK as the saccharine strains of K-Pop floating through the kimchi-scented air. With the recent opening of the National Hangeul Museum in Seoul , logophiles can nerd-out over hangeul history, art and even a hangeul inspired playground for adults. 139, Seobinggo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, +82-2-1330"

Had a wonderful time learning the history of hangeul and the presentation and preservation of regional dialects. The artifacts and exhibits were presented in ways that were engaging, interactive and even interactive. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and also learn a lot. The is a small gift shop with many tempting items and a cafe with drinks and snacks. A great place to spend 1-2 hours. A wonderful place to bring kids.

Extensively provides insight into how Hangul, the Korean alphabet, was created. The permanent exhibit provides information about the history, development, and cultural significance, while the temporary exhibits explore more linguistic aspects. It's a rather small museum and free to visit! Note that the temporary exhibits are all in Korean but the main exhibit has both English and Korean!

A fascinating place to learn about the history of Hangeul, the Korean Alphabet. I had a great time here. The surrounding grounds were also beautiful to explore! Highly recommended especially if you're interested in Korean history, script, and languages. Most of the signs/placards were translated in English. Free admission.

I loved this place, trust me, it's a must if you love Korean culture, free charge for the entrance, takes you like 2 or 3 hours to enjoy the permanent exhibition.

Another great musuem in Seoul about their national language/alphabet and how it came about. I love how they take a lot of pride in their Korean alphabet and its much deeper than a bunch of letters and how there's so much history to it. Learned a lot

Small but pleasant museum to spend a hour or so. See together with the National Museum and enjoy the gardens after.

A must visit museum for anyone who is interested in the Korean language and writing system Hangeul (한글) and for all Korean learners. A remarkable place that shows the history of Hangeul and how its invention has influenced and impacted the Korean society to enable even people with limited access to education to read and write. I come visit the place whenever I‘m in Korea as they always have new and interesting temporary exhibitions.
