A breezy eatery serving up fantastic seasonal Hawaiian dishes and refreshing infused water, all while live music and friendly vibes fill the air.
"We’d very happily eat at Nalu’s three times a day, which is saying quite a lot. It’s a perfect spot to bring a group or a family that includes kids because of the casual open-air setting and the large tables inside and on the patio. (And for adults, there’s a full bar with one of our favorite drinks on the island, their kimchi Bloody Mary.) And if your morning beach walk turned into a morning beach nap, breakfast items are available until 2:30pm, with some, like the loco moco and the chicken and waffles, on the menu all day." - martha cheng, team infatuation

"When tragedy strikes—like the Paris terrorist attacks or the Parkland mass shooting—Nalu’s South Shore Grill creates mile-long leis from local ti leaves for those affected. Representatives then present the leis to the victims personally, while offering chants for healing. Oftentimes, the restaurant also creates the leis to celebrate accomplishments, like the return of the Hawaiian canoe Hōkūleʻa after its three-year, round-the-world voyage. Aside from being a beacon of humanitarian light, Nalu’s is a favorite for local dishes like poke bowls, island-style beef short ribs, and loco moco (a ground beef patty served over brown rice and topped with eggs, homemade gravy, and black lava salt). If you want to give back, order the roasted beet and goat cheese salad and 50 percent of the purchase price will go to charity."
"Breakfast at Nalu's consists of hearty, soul-satisfying comfort food; take the loco moco, made with local eggs, grass-fed beef from Makaweli Ranch, and homemade gravy. Other breakfast standouts include the Black and Blue ahi Benedict, topped with fresh-caught ahi tuna and local mushrooms, and the world’s fluffiest pineapple-banana pancakes, which satisfy, but still leave room for malasadas—breakfast-dessert is a thing, right? The restaurant sources seasonal ingredients directly from local farms, and you can taste that freshness in every dish." - Kris Fordham
